July 31st, 2016 - This must have been very experimental brew, because I've never seen it again after this tasting. A dark foxy red (almost mahogany), it's got a light, sweet and floral scent, wth some orange juice and a touch of lime. The flavor is similar, with a medium body and good carbonation bolstering the citrus taste, and accenting the light, sweet and floral touches.

[Original rating 2015-04-24] Not bad but not too good. Aroma is not pleasant, I get wet cardboard and metal. Taste is a little citrus with a bready finish.

Must be noted that this is a 1 year-old bottle.
Appearance: Nice bone white head and spotty lace.
Aroma: Malts and hops in unison here. Pine notes. Solid.
Taste: Hops do seem muted, but all still works out well on the palate. Balanced still and delightful to drink. Must be top-tier when fresh.

Dark, weathered copper orange in color with a light haze. Poured with a moderate off-white, creamy foam with nice lacings and good retention. Medium light malty aromas with medium light minty, herbal and light floral notes. Medium bodied with medium, stinging carbonation and a creamy smooth feel. Light warming toward the finish. Medium caramel malty flavors. Medium minty and herbal hop flavors followed by medium high hop bitterness through the middle. Bitterness slowly tapers followed by bready and caramel malt flavors toward the end. Finished semi-dryly with light minty hop flavors and a lager-like cleanness. Aromas and flavors were well balanced with a just a touch of hop bitter intensity. Great malt character is the highlight and makes this subtly complex and easy drinking. Very enjoyable.

The appearance was a nice hazy amber to brown color with a decent transparency about it. The head was about a finger’s worth of white foaminess that stuck around for a good minute before it actually dissipated. The smell had a nice allocation of bitter citrusy yet somewhat earthy hops to allow a nice sweet malt setting to come in and burst through. The taste was a super nice amount of bittersweetness combined all the way through and leading to a nice sticky sweet aftertaste and yet still gave a somewhat of a dry bittersweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body and had a fairly good sessionable quality about it. The carbonation seems a bit lighter than some APA’s, but its nothing off. Overall, pretty nice APA that I would have again.
