Is this the Super Jubel in a bottle? Please, beer gods, say yes! Poured into my favorite gigantic snifter which I tend to use for all of my 22oz bottle purposes, I didn't even think of chilling this beauty as I pull it right off the shelf and begin pouring. Man, this thing is so brown it's almost black! The head swelled up and has produced an excellent stable lacing around the edge that sticks as though made of a thin bubble paste. The nose of a malt nut with slight brown sugar and spice invade my senses as i begin imbibing this amazing offering. I cannot describe the taste. I can only believe noises similar to those of orgasmic whales would suffice to cover the way this beer makes my mouth react. Anything that can be this beautiful to drink simply deserves to be crowned. I can chug this. I can sip this. I can cook with this. I can pair this with anything. I can wholeheartedly recommend buying a case of this and having one now, and one every year to follow until they brew another one. Thank you, Deschutes. I love you.

Best after 01/29/11

A - Pours a super dark amber, almost brown with a soapy dark tan head with good retention.

S - Toffee, dark fruit, maybe a touch oxidized.

T - Carmel, toffee, raisin, brown sugar, ripe fruits.

D - Lower carbonation with a surprisingly thin body.

O - A bit past it's prime, but still drinkable and fun.

Poured from a bomber into a pint glass

A- pours a very dark red, nearly black, with a paper thin offwhite head that looks pretty much nonexistent. Disappointing

S- booze. Just straight booze. Even at two years out, this smells hot as hell

T- cherries, red wine, tobacco. Not exactly exploding with flavor, but it's clearly a very nuanced beer that may have sat for a little too long.

M- medium bodied. Body isn't as thick as I'd expect. Nice

O- this beer confuses me. I don't know what it wants to be, but then again, the generic "strong ale" category lets it be whatever it wants for the mostpart

Bomber poured into a snifter

A - Dark ruby red. Very little to no head.

S - Pretty darn good. Chocolate, cherries, barrel, wine. Somebody below wrote about it smelling like cough syrup in a good way, I see what they mean. Pretty unique smell.

T - Liquor soaked black cherries with chocolate. I have no idea what it was like fresh, but everything is well blended together 2 years out. Lots of subtle flavors, with the dark cherry being the only stand out. I like it quite a bit.

M - Solid. Just on the thicker side of medium, very low carb.

O - This does not remind me of jubelale at all. Havent done a side by side, but 2010 seems significantly different. Great unique beer. I'm not a huge fan of wine barrel treatments, but I really like this one.
