From bottle. Date says best after 01/29/11
A- very dark brown rust, thin lingering head
S- booze, rasin, and a touch of molasses
T- dark fruits, maple, a touch of oak and booze
M- think this is the best part of the beer. Real nice and Smooth
O- a very nice beer but a real boozer. Doesn't hide the 10% at all. Nice to sip on but not worth the ten year wait.

Decided to finally crack open my bottle after seeing the thread that this is going downhill really fast. Never tried it fresh and traded for it >6 months ago. Poured into Lawson's tulip, served at cellar temparature.
A- Pours a dark but translucent ruby red/mahogony brown with about a half finger of brownish/yellowish slightly yeasty looking off-white head that has about average retention and recedes to a flat top leaving some light spotty lacing. Not overly carbonated, but nice consistency.
S- Dark fruits of cherries, raspberries, plums, grapes, chardonnay, and a nice rich malt backbone. Fairly aromatic and smells fairly pleasant with absolutely no alcohol present. For a strong ale the nose on this is fantastic.
T- Dark fruits, cherries, plums, molasses, raisins, dark malts, finishes with cherries and plums with a hint of alcohol and a faint presence of oxidation. I never had this fresh, but I can't imagine this has gone downhill too much since being released. All the flavors were still nicely pronounced and the slight oxidation didn't detract too much from the beer.
M- Very smooth for a strong ale, medium bodied, fairly low carbonation, light syrupiness that doesn't impede drinkability at all.
O- I decided to finally crack this open after never having had it fresh and I wasn't dissapointed at all. There was a hint of oxidation but plenty of flavor (especially in the nose) of dark fruits, molasses, etc.- pretty much everything that I love in a strong ale. It might just be personal preference, but I don't mind a bit of oxidation. This beer is still definitely worth checking out but I don't think it will improve much.

Appearance. Pours a deep brown with some nice red at the edges and topped with almost a finger of orange-tan head.
Smell. Caramel, red wine, a little cherry and chocolate.
Taste. Caramel, raisins, coffee, red wine and dark berries, woody vanilla, slight oxidation.
Mouthfeel. Fuller body, sticky on the lips, low carbonation.
Overall. This one was a little oxidized. I thought it was built for the long haul, but I'm glad I didn't wait any longer to drink it.
