Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.
I find red chairs in my living room to be a bit gaudy... Anyway, this stuff pours a clear copper topped by over a finger of cream foam. The nose comprises pine needles, grapefruit zest, orange peel, a touch of tangerine, and a hint of honey. The taste brings in more of the same, slightly rindier than before, but still pretty bright and enjoyable. A bit of grass is tossed in for good measure. Thee body is a rather light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, a very nice pale ale, one of the best Deschutes offering I've yet had.

Into a pint glass:
A: clear amber almost brown body with a one finger white foamy head that leaves some strong foamy clingy lacing
S: sweet malty/biscuitiness and a grassy sort of hops, some slight floral notes come through as it warms
T: sweet through the previously mentioned flavors and has a grainy yet somewhat malty aftertaste and a sweet sticky finish
M: medium, sessionable, adequate carbonation, smooth
O: is this an American Red Ale? though labeled as an APA (seems just too malty/sweet for an APA) and it shows more characteristics towards a red ale. I still liked it and would have it again.

12 oz brown bottle with a freshness date.
Pours a hazy orangish light amber. Chill haze clears as the beer warms to a clearer light copper. Thick head that slowly sinks into some great lacing. Smells a little bready with caramel malt and floral hops that are not to aggressive. Taste is a sweat caramel malt up front with great hop balance through the middle and a clear bitter finish that lingers on the palate. Mouthfeel is slightly slippery with medium-low carbonation.
Overall a great american pale ale with good hop presence and a great balance of malts. My first beer from Deschutes and definitely not my last.
