Very highly recommended...

A: Moderate pour of muddy copper into a tulip glass. Brutally awesome head. Thick, ridiculous head that extends half an inch above the glass. Excellent retention. Beautiful pint.

S: For a beer named Hop Trip, I find it strange that the immediate nose is malt. Toffee, caramel, perhaps a touch of cinnamon. Spicy hops, tropical, stone and citrus. Mainly stone and tropical, though.

T: Not at all hop aggressive. Hops are noticeable, but not nearly to the level of even the moderately bruising IPA these days. Malt plays a huge role in the flavor of this beer. Slightly spicy (think noble), with an awesome malt sweetness that is accentuated by the fruit forward nature of these hops. Finishes fairly dry, with a bit of ash like bitterness and a slightly resinous twang.

M: Beautifully full bodied while still maintaining session like qualities. The best aspect of this beer. Nice balance.

O: Maybe it's my preconceived notions, but I was definitely expecting more of a punch with this. I mean, it's got a truck full of hops on the label. Regardless, this is a damn fine APA and a testament that more does not always mean merrier.
