500 ml. bottle, porus a small brown head, amber colour. Smells of caramel, chocolate, banana and dark fruits, with hints of vanilla. Very sweet palate, though I found the body too light. Taste of dark fruits, chocolate, xerry or port wine and a hint of coffee in the end, though it keeps the sweetness.

500 ML bottle poured into a pint glass. No bottling date.
Pours a medium brown color with a light white head. Smell is typical for the style - very malty with caramel, toffee and other similar notes. Taste is more of the same, and again very true to the style. very malty and a tad sweet. toasty. Mouthfeel is medium. maybe a bit lacking in this area as it doesnt go down smoothly. medium carbonation.
overall this is a very good representation of what a doppel bock is supposed to be. its not outstanding and wont blow you away, but if youre a fan of this style that not a lot of american breweries do right, then this beer will suffice nicely.

This beer was an unexpected surprise. Good looking deep-copper colour.
Thin head that rapidly cleared to the thinnest peripheral head of bubbles.
Fat molasses flavour rolling over the tongue. Smokey rich molasses, which at times can threaten to become a bit too too rich to my dry-favouring palette.
Would enjoy this again, but it's a bit too full-on for me to make this a session beer. People who favour the richer/stronger end of the spectrum might find it very interesting though.

Poured from the bottle into a tall pilsner glass.
Great mix of cola and fine carbonation through a fantastic looking red and burnt brown amber body. Head is off tan and very creamy and billows up to three fingers easily, and slowly settles with some ice cream whipped like character.
Nose smells classic doppelbock great. Lots of clove and caramel like sweetness, but that really great spicy character. Hints of black licorice hide just a little bit but comes out more malt sweet.
The mouthfeel on this is nearly perfect. A velvety big, but not thick and syrupy, creamy rich body, almost like ice cream lets the sweet malts carry throughout the palate. Clean finishing with a large density and chewy character. Creamy palate continues, with not much of the licorice sense coming, but balancing the spicy character out nicely. Some banana like esters a bit with hints of cream mingle also.
Overall just very impressed with this one, real tasty doppelbock.

Very good beer. Glad to have gotten it from Let's Pour. Poured at a good temperature with a decent light tan head that soon settled down and a bit of lace. Color is a clear amber cherry with some bubble trails. Aroma is a pleasing blend of toffee, caramel, malt, roast, fruit. Flavor's much like nose plus coffee, toast, and just enough bitter and carbonic tang to balance. Body is great while carbonation is perhaps a touch light. Finish is average length and very easy drinking although after a bit some booze comes thru. Wish I could get more.

Poured into an extra large beer mug
A- Pours a dark brownish red. Formed a good head, and lacing is evident.
S- Smells sweet, like toffee, and a little toasty. You can smell some of the alcohol.
T- Toasty, reminiscent of a sweet bread, with some notes of toffee and chocolate. Not much of an alcohol flavor, but it's there.
M- Full and a little heavy.
O- A good one, goes down pretty easy, but I think next time I see this brewery in a liquor store I'll give one of their other beers a try.

A - Deep amber brown body. Excellent clarity. Pours large creamy head that quickly dissipates. Almost no lacing.
S - Strong malts with melanoidins present. Slight toasty note. A hop presence is detectable (Noble?). No fruity esters, chocolate, or 'burned' aroma.
T - Sweet malt presence with toasty flavor. Ever slight presence of chocolate. Slight pale finish is hidden by toasty notes. Alcohol flavor minimal with dry finish.
M - Medium body, moderate carbonation. Low astringency.
O - Strong, rich, sweet lager. A very textbook example of a German Doppelbock.
---
NOTES: Paid around $4.20 for this half-liter bottle with flip top - a solid value in my opinion if you are looking for an excellent German Doppelbock.

Had at The Soup Cellar in Leavenworth, WA, flip top bottle. Explosive pour. Ruby brown with giant bubbly tan head. Strong smells of fruity malt and alcohol. Quite a bit of malt sweetness and rather creamy. Very warming, definately a big beer. Towards the end it was a bit rich. I loved it but don't think I could drink two.
