Pours dull copper with a scant head, but good lace.
Honeyed malt and some grassy notes , as well as some caramel in the nose.
Malt forward, a bit thin and watery, but sweetness of malt helps. Mild bitterness, some sweet bread, a little fruit. Mild soft malt and light bitter in the finish.
Medium body, but seems thin.
Overall, ok. Highly drinkable as there are no harsh edges. Would tire of these after two, but still worth trying.

Poured from the bottle into a stange glass.
A very dark Keller, and quite clear actually. Dark brown chestnut like amber, with a light coffee tan like head of about a finger. Settles to a nice puck very slowly. This looks more like an Altbier to me though. Maybe something new variety wise here!
A nice aromatic caramel, but very light and clean. Light sweetness of clove sense and nutmeg, very light brown spices and brown toasted bread. Interesting.
Very light palate, with a clean clove and sweet caramel flavor. Lightly carbonated with a the mid palate forming with some good toasty aromas and sweetness. A solid palate fills with a little bit of raisin character and dark dried fruits. Kind of a nutty brown ale sense to this also, with dark fruit estery tastes.
This sort of reminds me of Dampfbier a bit but a lighter sweetness which is more noticeable and a good fruity character to it also. However, this is not what I normally want out of a Keller.

Poured from a bottle at das bierhaus, Burlington vt
Pours a deep amber with red hues. Little bits of light brown dissipate immediately. Great color. No bubbles
Very mild aroma. Light fruit and toasted nut with whole wheat bread.
Taste starts watery, then hits with flavors of whole wheat bread, slight toffee and a hint of raisin. Finishes with a lovely caramel/mild stone fruit flavor.
Light bodied, low carbonation, one of the cleanest finishes on a beer I've ever had.
Very nice, easy drinking beer that I'd gladly indulge in again.

look: 3.75 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 2.75 | overall: 3.25
Appearance: Not much of a head (though it left several shards behind) and the liquid is clear but what is most notable is the color - the best comparison is the color of Scotch
Smell: Yeasty, with a strong caramel character
Taste: Malt heavy, with toast and caramel flavors dominating the front end; a smidge of grassy hop influence arrives in the middle, but the finish is a return to the form anticipated up front
Mouthfeel: Medium body with low carbonation
Overall: I can't get very excited by this beer - way too malty for my palate and the mouthfeel was flabby

Poured from 500mL swing top bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: medium brown hue with a haze-free body and a moderately strong effervescence. Head pours a finger of frothy ivory foam but dissipates pretty quickly. Not too bad.
Smell: sweet caramel malt aroma with a light dose of noble hops. Mild, but actually pretty well-composed.
Taste: caramel malt flavor with a lagery character. There's a hint of something plasticy right at the beginning; it's kind of off-putting.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a decent level of carbonation and an active, refreshing texture, if not exactly creamy. Not bad.
Overall: an interesting beer, worth a try if you're into the style. That weird flavor right up front, though, is a bit of a turn-off for me. There are better examples of the style.

Poured from a poptop covered brown bottle. Large bubbled head that settles to a single layer of tight foam. Some spots of lace on the glass. The broth is light brown and crystal clear.
Strong iron smell. There's a mildly sweet caramel malt aroma as well.
Lots of malt sugars in this beer--like dissolving a malt ball in the beer. Very little hop. The body is thin, the carbonation high. The iron is also in the taste. Think watered down Scotch Ale, even though this is a lager.

A - light brown and clear. I was expecting yellow and hazy.
A - Bread crust and yeast... It's like a loaf of bread before it hits the oven. The yeast throws no fruit or spice.
T - Yeasty, kinda soapy in the finish. Nondescript. Reminds me more of a poorly executed English Bitter than a more flavorful Pilsner.
M - Kinda lean, there's some substance there. Lack of carbonation makes this feel thinner than it has to feel. I know that's lack of carbonation is feature of the style, but in this offering it conveys weakness in the brewing.
O - Kinda fun to try, but leaves me unimpressed. I'll try it again it warmer months, when I'm sure it'll be reprieve from the lawn-mower beers. But there's not much good I can say about it now.

Pours with a bubbly head more appropriate for soft drinks than beer, with a color approximate to weak, gas station coffee. This is not impressing me.
Scents of cereal, vanilla and yeast.
Taste is a nice combination of rye and oats, with a soft finish close to grapefruit. Quite drinkable, without any aggressive carbonation. Pleasant!

I got a 500mL bottle of this from Woodman's in Rockford, IL for $3.29 in Early 2012.
Pours a dark amber color with a fluffy head that leaves lacing clinging to the glass. Scents of barley and yeast are the most noticeable. You can really find the barley as it is very grainy tasting. Quite earthy and mellow flavor that gives this beer great drinkability. Some attributes that I can see people pointing out is I do find the volume to be a little too thin and the after taste is not as good as it could be as it is sort of chalky.

Bottle to Mug
500 ML swing top
Thanks to Jazzpatel for the freebie
App- A mixed color of deep orange and light brown. A small 1/2 finger of head formed and was gone in an instant. No cling or lace.
Smell- A bit like a bowl of cereal with some oats and some grain. A bit sweet caramel and some doughy malts. A bit damp.
Taste- Its a bit like a cross between a brown/amber ale. A little creamy with some damp bready malts and a bit sweet. Not really what I thought it would be. TThe last flavors come as a bit of lemon.
Mouth- A light medium body with a soft carbonation level. I feel its fell off a bit. Lemon, malts, bread, cereal.
Drink- For a style I've never had it was a bit of a let down as the bottle I feel has fallen off a little bit. I'd like to trade for a Surly hell to compare

500mL bottle into short stemmed pilsner glass.
A: this is such a deep gold it looks more like an amber. a very light amber. crystal clear. head is white and bubbly but with O.K. retention and lacing.
S: bready and and pilsner malt. gentle yeast components. not finding anything hoppy here which is unfortunate.
T: yeasty. hints of sulfur. the malt is fulfilling, however, similar to the nose the hops are a bit too absent for me. otherwise, pretty clean lager flavors.
M: mellow carbonation on a light body. a little too mellow.
D: i thought these werent supposed to be clear? regardless, drinkable and tasty. clean. not a wow-er, but still an easy drinking lager.

A. Pours amber with some orange and yellow highlights. A tiny wisp of a white head that hardly exists.
S. Some light caramel malt, and some honey/ oat - a bit like honey nut cheerios.
T. Honey nut cheerios, but some banana comes out as it warms.
M. Light body with high biting carbonation.
D. A very light beer with high carbonation level. An easy drinker that would go down well over the summer.

500mL bottle poured into a Rastel Hefeweizen glass. Date is best by October...something. Year doesn't appear to be marked - hope it's 2011.
Appearance: Translucent coppery-orange-brown on the table, clearer coppery-orange when held up to the light. Very little head upon pouring - died back quickly to a thin white ring at the edge with the occasional island of lacing that wasn't very persistent.
Smell: Hint of yeast, with malt and some metallic notes. With a swirl, a bit musty and some herbal hops.
Taste: Quite bready, but not sweet. Like a good homebaked white bread. The yeast definitely comes through in that bready flavor. There is a faint hint of hops at the end, but it's hard to tease out.
Mouthfeel: Mild carbonation, slick and doesn't cling to the teeth. Just a bit thicker than water but not by much.
Overall: Interesting style - and it grew on me as I finished it off. I do wonder though if this was fresh. I'll have to revisit this style again when I know for sure the beer is fresh and see if my review changes any. Not an outstanding beer - definitely above average but nothing special, but again, the bready flavor grew on me after awhile hence my slightly higher rating on the overall category.

Pours a crystal clear orange with a 1 inch bone colored head that fades to a small cap. Small rings of lacing drip back down into the remaining beer. Smells of caramel/toffee and biscuit-like malt. Taste is the same as the smell with a hint of hops coming in on the finish. Very slight bitterness on the palate after each sip quickly fades. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp and clean mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good German beer and my first of both the style and from this brewery. I had been searching everywhere for a beer of this style so I am glad I finally got to try one.
