Notes:
This style-defying brew blends West Coast hop sensibilities with Belgian malt and yeast character. Black with a ruby core, this ale is hoppy, spicy, and slightly roasty with a dry malt finish.

On tap at the Rose and Crown in Palo Alto.

A: Black with reddish-brown tinged around the edges. A finger of dense tan head and good lacing.

S: Big rush of strong pine hops, along with a healthy helping of grapefruit. Chocolate malts come in for balance.

T: Similar to the smell for the most part, but a bit stronger and more enjoyable. Quite powerful for the ABV. Balance is definitely in favor of the hops as you might expect; long lingering bitter finish with a bit of chocolate/caramel flavor persisting.

M: Sticky body, very syrupy. Moderate body and carbonation with a dry finish, begs for another sip.

O: Enjoyable offering from Bear Republic, my glass went down pretty fast. Hoping to see this one again.
