On-tap at Hollingshead's in a half-liter mug, on to the beer:
If you've had this style of beer before, you don't need me to tell you that it's shimmering straw yellow in color with a big billowy head on top. Also, if you've had a fresh German lager on-tap, you don't need me to tell you that it tastes pretty good too. Lovely mix of floral, grass, sweetish pale malt notes, with a subtle citrus finish. Great thirst quencher too, even after riding my bike 6 miles in the afternoon to get to the establishment.

500ml bottle at Das Alpenhaus. Cloudy amber pour, foamy head dissipates. Aroma is caramel malts and some yeasty funk. Malty taste, sweet, caramel, with a faint sourness, which I recognize from roggenbiers.

Sampling right now on 8/3/14. Comes in a nice 500ml (16.9 ounce) bottle. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a 'Urhel' tulip glass.
Pours a slight hazy golden in color with a good 1-finger white foamy head that settles down to a nice layering along the sides of the glass. A good amount of lacing is seen with each sip. The aroma is of sweet cereal grains with a hint of honey. Lots going on with the taste with the sweet malts with some honey and even orange mixed in. Medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation but not overly done. No harsh or bitter aftertaste either as this brew went down pretty easy. Overall a good brew.

Draft at Gourmet Haus Staudt.
Milky straw yellow topped by an inch of dense, sticky froth.
Malty, grainy, clean aroma. Lager yeast is evident, bringing a mild sulfuric note.
There's more sweetness than the aroma suggests, though it's by no means a rich beer. Bready pale malt backed by mild fruitiness, honey, spicy noble hops. On the sweet side for a helles, a bit creamy in texture with very little bite in the finish. Medium body, perhaps a bit heavier than I like for the style. Very good on the whole, but a step down from their stadl-bier.

Transcribed from undated notes.
The pour produced a finger of bone-white head with great retention, eventually resulting in some nice lacing. Color was a hazy lemon-yellow. Nose was slightly lager-sweet, but frankly rather muted from what one might expect from the style. Mouthfeel was medium with a definite honey-lager sweetness on the tongue. Finish was mellow, lager-like, tasty. Nothing terribly notable, but not bad, either.

Picked up a swing-top bottle from Abe's for $4. I wish I knew the age of this beer, but there's no date on it. The aroma and flavor have a nearly cidery caramel bread taste with only a hint of bitterness. This beer is a bit sweet, but is otherwise smooth and drinkable. It just doesn't taste like a good example of the style.

A: Hazy golden ale. Thin white head.
S: Raisin-like cereal grain. Also, honey aroma.
T: Bran and dried fruit, somewhat oxydized flavors throughout. No good hop flavor to speak of.
M: Not bad, medium light body with full carbonation.
D: Odd flavors for me. Not something I care to look for again. Maybe just a bad example.
