Appearance has a dark ruby red with a firm fluffy head that dissapates slowly leaving nill lace. Smell is lightly roasted with not much else as it is in the Taste as well, also having grain and light caramel with moderate hops. Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. Not a bad dark heff, but could use a little more compexity.

A- Love the artwork on the label...full props! The brew itself pours a lovely partially yeast hazed coppery brown color. The head is slightly caramel in color and starts off about a finger in thickness, eventually settling down to a thin foamy layer. There appears to be modest carbonation lumbering to the top of my glass, and the lacing is quite impressive, leaving behind thick shapely pieces of soapy foam all around the inside of my glass. Very nice looking beer overall!
S- This brew has a rich, mellow, and malty aroma overall. More specifically, the malt sweetness smells like a combination of sweet toffee and/or chocolate. The richness has a yeasty quality, something like what fresh raw dough would smell like. I also smell an earthy hopped finish that gives this a well rounded aroma profile.
T- The flavors follow the aromas fairly well, with mellow sweet flavors of toffee/molasses, chocolate, and a yeasty rich flavor that is slightly fruity....bananas to be exact....nothing too ripe however. The finish comes across more crispy bitter on the palate than the aroma let on. Overall nothing really stands out....just a nice mellow and flavorful ale!
M- This is a very nice creamy ale! The carbonation is really plentiful yet the bubbles are very small individually....really allowing the flavors to burst on the palate properly! Overall this reminds me of enjoying the type of dessert that I really enjoy....complex and not super sweet.
O- This is a very highly drinkable ale in my humble opinion! I would have no problem enjoying this beer over the course of an evening and appreciate the well balanced nature of the brew! The alcohol is very well hidden, it's very flavorful and rich, yet it's also a very smooth and light on the palate. Now I can understand how this was brewed in Bavaria and won awards so many awards! I highly recommend this!

Served from a 12 ounce bottle into a standard pint glass. The label features a fire-breathing dragon. I'm not sure of the symbolism, if any.
Appearance: A not-very-aggressive pour produces a one inch pale brown creamy, billowy, sticky head, which is unusual for this brewery. The color is a pale reddish-brown with thin haze.
Smell: Malt, yeast, perhaps some dark fruit- raisins or prunes. The hop aroma is very subdued.
Taste: Sweet malt, with subdued earthy hops. Perhaps some rye bread, molasses- like the stuff they put on horse feed. Loved eating that stuff when I was a kid. Otherwise very smooth with some crispness.
Mouthfeel: Very creamy, primarily due to the creamy, billowy head, which sticks around.
Overall: This beer is very unlike most wheat beers- which is okay by me, since the bananas and cloves can get to be tiresome. Another easy-drinking beer from Bayern.

Poured into a Celebrator pokal. Pours a dark red amber with a thin off-white head that dissipates to a thin film and ring around the glass. Light aroma of toasted and caramel malt, dark fruit, wheat. Flavor follows with toasted and sweet malt, cloves, wheat and a hint of grassy hops. Light to medium bodied. Subdued, but very pleasant malt and wheat flavors, well integrated. As another reviewer noted, a nice light weizen beer, but the "Dragon's Breath" seems to indicate something a little more dangerous. A pleasant, low-key dunkelweizen.

not sure why a german style dark wheat beer thats under 6% abv is called dragons breath, with flames all over the label, kind of gimmicky or misleading or something, but nevertheless, the beer isnt all that bad. i can see a thick layer of yeast or bottling sugar on the bottom of the bottle, but a careful pour yields a slightly murky dark brown thin liquid with a half inch of head that fades instantly. the nose is not real german yeasty at all, nor german malty really, more american medium roast barley, somewhere between a porter and a black ale in that regard, with some doughy yeast and a lightness not explained by the color. the taste is rather generic, and off the mark a bit for the style theyre calling it, but its a drinkable dark brew. yeast forward, but nothing too interesting. nice roast on the malt, slight chocolate note and a tad sweet at the end, still clean in the finish and easy to drink a fair few of these. i didnt love this one, but it served its purpose as the only non gold craft beer i could find at a town pump servo in colstrip, montana. wont seek this out again, but it didnt offend me by any means, and at under 8 bucks a 6 pack, i cant really complain...

From BeerAdvocate magazine Issue #61 (Feb 2012):
LOOK: Hazed chestnut
SMELL: Fresh-baked bread, nutty yeast, faint tartness, dried grass, ripe fruit
TASTE: Bready, toasty, animal feed, mild tartness, caramel, brown apples, herbal hop, vague spice, yeast, melon, husky; semidry, pulling finish
Looking for a different kind of bock? Look here. This is not your typical clove-and-banana German Wheat beer profile. It’s more of a rustic Altbier yeast with some depth to keep things interesting.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a weizen glass. Reviewed live.
A- one finger tan head. Decent retention. Partial lacing. Auburn body. Looks nice.
S- wheat, yeast, cloves. Not great, but still appealing.
T- heavy flavors, dark yeasts, tasty. Maybe a smidge of dark fruits?
M- syrupy, leaves a thick feel on the aftertaste.
O- tasty, but don't go out of your way to get it. Subtle and fairly forgettable.

Poured into a wiezen glass at 47 degrees
Appearance: A monster 3 finger head that is foamy and airy. The retention on the head is okay. The color of the beer is a medium brown color with a light tan hue. The clarity of the beer is opaque but there are some particles floating with in the vessel. Overall the appearance of the beer is above average.
Nose: A very medium roasted dark malt that is toasty and has some bread notes. The malt is more dominate in this beer with some chocolate and espresso notes. The hop character is subtle in the beer with some fruity and wood notes.
Taste: The medium roasted dark malt with toasted bread notes. The yeast flavor is noticeable as with the hop flavor. The hops is slightly fruity and woody.
Mouth Feel: Slightly coating, carbonated, and astringent.
Overall: The body of the beer is medium and the finish is medium. This beer is slightly disappointing and a tad watered down. I have tasted better Dunkelweizens.

Come on people live a little. Its not a hefe, its not a dunkel. Its some of both, but neither.
Taste--its got the wheat thing going, but it's sweet. I like the sweet aftertaste, no zing here, but hey, it's different. I like it a lot, it goes down smooth for a lighter beer. The color is a little different to get used to, but its a one of a kind beer.
So what do you expect out of this beer? I m not expecting my world to shake here. It's pretty good and drinkable. It's not wine people. It's beer. Relax, enjoy.
Maybe they should remove the heff from the label.
