Appears a dark turbid, russet toned brown with a small white head that slowly fades into a gentle cap. Tiny speckles of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of funk, earth, mushrooms, brown sugar, floral notes, vanilla, and just a trace of caramel.
Taste is of the aromas with more notes of raisins, black cherries, prunes, and perhaps a hint of bourbon way in the background.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slick, and dry.
Overall, this is a winner. Tim & Matt continually work wonders with the Iron Hill Abbey Dubbel base beer. Good job, guys! Always a pleasure.

Pours with a nice head and retains well throughout consumption. The aroma is slightly sour fruit and the oak barrel aging is easily present. Flavor is strong plum, and some mild prune and raisin. Darker malts and candy on the back end. Mouthfeel is decent but like a lot of other Iron Hill beers not the biggest mouthfeel - but not a major knock. Good beer.
