At Iron Hill Lancaster.

A: The cream ale is indelibly light, a paler pale straw color. That said, quite clear (as you'd expect). A thin white head, no lacing, hangs around for half of the glass.

S: The nose is very plain, practically nonexistent. Light biscuit, a tinge of cornbread and a sugary adjunct presence.

T: Like the nose, the ale skirts the palest, lightest spectrum of beer. Corn, doughy biscuit and the faintest hop presence define the taste. There really isn't much more to talk about here.

M: The mouthfeel is predictably smooth, hell there isn't much flavor to go around and beef things up. A palate cleanser between other beers.

On tap @ Iron Hill Lancaster on 5/10/12. Served in a 10 oz goblet.

Pours a crystal clear gold, with a thin covering of white head. This retains with some foamy bunching, leaving back a frothy cascade of lace that quickly slides down the sides of the glass. The aroma smells of corn, sweet malt, herbal grassiness, and a touch of sulfur and diacetyl across the back.

The taste has a strong corn presence, which moves along with some sugary doughy notes while a firm citric bite gets some earthy bitterness in there from the hops. The mouthfeel is lighter bodied, with a prickly sharpness that fills the mouth and comes on maybe a bit too strong to be considered crisp.

I couldn’t really get into this one. The hops had a bit too much of a raw feel to them and then the sharp carbonation kept this from being as quenching feeling as you want from a beer like this. I was fine after one glass.
