The Beerlass's beer on draft at Maple Shade's Barrels, Bourbon and Bugs 2012 event. From the menu: "A classic Belgian-style Farmhouse ale, unfiltered, bright and light bodied. Fermented with the earthy, spicy and fruity DuPont strain, spiced with pink and green peppercorns, then spiked with Brett B and finished in oak".
Pours a hazy dark orange-golden with a white head and slightly pink tinges. Nose is oak heavy with wine barrel-like fruitiness and slight peppery spice. Flavor is sweet and dry with the pepper only appearing in the long, dry finish. Typical Belgian/DuPont yeast flavors start in the front of the palate and finish with a dry brett aftertaste. Medium full, crisp body with moderate carbonation. Mild vanilla sweetness throughout which complement the dry brett and pepper spice. An excellent oaked saison, my personal favorite of the 2012 event.
