Notes:
Rojo Grande or "Big Red" was brewed by our Head Chef Dave Foster and mug club member Jason Uhl. These two Big Reds brewed an Imperial Red Ale that has a distinct caramel flavor, fruity esters and a ton of citrus character from the use of American hops.

The brewey calls this beer an Imp. red this site calles it an Americian strong ale. So I'm gonna go with what the brewery calls it.
This red ale is similar to a nugget nectar so if you N/N rush to your nearest Iron hill and getcha one.
An exciting beer lively carbonated red amber ale with a tall beige head.
The aroma was hops hops hops. Loads of them sticky, oily hops citrus and floral. Caramel malts can be hinted at but are a non factor.
Taste is like the nose strong wet citrusy floral hops. Pungent and bitter. I didn't catch the malts, they ran for the hills.
No seriously, it's got a nice balance.
Feels medium on the palette with a strong bitter finish. Alcohol was well hidden.
A seasonal brew that actually hit the spot with the wife's chocolate desert. Good stuff here.

I couldn't see the color of this as it was served in a clay mug, which is annoying but you get much larger pours this way so it's all good. Nose was esthery, orange candy, sweet, with quite a bit of citrusy hops. Mouth was tons of orange candy, rock sugar, very sweet. Finish is citrus hop bitterness, with a distinct impression of fuel/chemical. Sweet and pretty heavy throughout. Pretty good, will impress people who love big imperial IPA's but this had some lingering problems and was plagued by that phenolic finish.
