"WOW!" That is exactly what I said after trying the first (and second, and third) sip of this powerfully tasty ale. It was literally a blast of flavor in my mouth! It had a citrusy flavor, but not a strong citrusy flavor. It was fizzy - my wife described it as being like a carbonated soft drink and tasting like a "Spree" candy. This was a really light-colored ale compared to other ales that I have tried (though the picture that I took and posted below makes it appear more yellow that it was). The best way to describe this drink: happy-tasting.

This Saison was Asian spice from there head chef Mario. I really like concept. I got served into a tulip glass. It was very nice looking a bit more darker then say average Saison. Pretty decent head the dissipated quickly.
The smell was like 5 spice and nutmeg. It also did remind me a little in smell to victory's Saison du buff.
The taste, the first sip was good. You get all that smell. You get a Saison background with odd tasting spices. After one sip I was about done with it. I could not drink more then one. It wasnt bad but the spices made it real rich in Asian spices.
The mouthfeel was well carbonated and was nice
Overall one is enough for me

this was served chilled in a goblet at Lancaster Iron Hill.

A nice golden shade with pure white head which settles quickly and has a very tiny bead. The smell is very strongly scented of asian spices - a lot of ginger in the aroma and moderately high lemongrass nose. The feel is pretty spicey and dry with a slightly elevated alcohol effect, yet still maintains some malt body.

The flavor is good with a nice dry toasted and mildly sweet malt flavor and subtle earthy belgian yeast with some ginger and nutty spice elements reminiscent of coriander with some light citrus qualities and hint of pepper with some alcohol and mellow grassiness in the flavor which also adds to the slight heat from the spice. The taste is very good and it is a quality saison, but the spice is much higher in the taste profile than your average Paul Rutherford Saison which is not over the top normally. I found this to be a tasty beer, just not one I would want multiple servings of -I had a sip of my wife's and a goblet of my own and that was sufficient.

I missed the release party on F, 18 Feb 2011, but you can bet your bottom dollar that I was not going to allow it to kick without having tried some.

The cheat sheet described it as an "unfiltered Belgian [-style] farmhouse ale with [C]hef [M]ario's secret blend of spices." Like Calgon's "Ancient Chinese Secret", this was out of the bag pretty quickly - Lemongrass, Cumin, Coriander, Lavender and Ginger. No word on quantity, but I'll bet this was expensive to make.

It arrived with just less than a finger of bone-white head with moderate retention. Nose was redolent with all kinds of spice along with a yeasty mustiness. Bonzai! Geronimo! Here we go! Look out below! Color looked like fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice or organic honey, although both were appropriate here. The mouthfeel was medium with an intense spiciness, like tucking into a Thai meal, on the tongue. When I was in Pattya Beach, Thailand in 1987, I was a railroad worker - laying Thais left and right! Finish was gaspingly dry and spicy, both yeast- and spice-driven with the lemongrass giving it a real puckering quality. I was overwhelmed and that does not happen often.
