March 2010 rate from a special event at Iron Hill.
Poured a still-looking maroon. Pretty malty and round nose, a bit of red wine, cherries, some other red berries. Not really sour, a bit hefty and round, with a slightly funky wine barrel presence. Spritzy enough in the mouth. Interesting and pretty good, but a chore to drink a whole glass. I don't know if this is the batch that won silver at GABF, but I was a bit let down. I think a stronger pour would have done this some good to open it up.

I had this on tap last night. The website says this is a dubble aged in lambic barrels with cherries. The brew is mahogany in color wit a thin white head that vanishes quickly. The aroma is cherry pie in a glass. The flavor is dominated by cherries. IMO most of the nuances of this sweet beer are hidden under the cherries. The brew is medium in body and has average carbonation. This is just too sweet for me. Several people at the bar felt it was a good desert beer, but it did not work for me(especially at 6.25 for a 12 ounce pour).
