A dar, clear reddish brown, minimal head. Scent is all malt - caramel balanced with toasted, light notes of chocolate and coffee beans. Taste is a great display of clean and fresh malts, not overly complex but good balance of caramel, toast, sugar, nuts light cocoa and coffee, minimal but present earthy hopyyness. Light bodied, could use a tick more carbonation. Another solid beer from this location.

On cask, served in a pint
(from notes, consumed in early December 09)

Appears a ruddy amber with a turbulent body that settled to a thick, off white cap. Great retention and lacing. Thick lines of lace coat the entire inside of the glass.

Golden raisins hit me first with sweet, sticky caramel and toffee. Not overly powerful, subtle but strong. There are some minor notes of nuts and spice.

Caramel and toffee are the more dominant flavors on the palate, although nothing is overpowering. Golden raisins and granny smith apples add a dry, tart finish. The flavors are all in check but lack some overall depth.

Thanks to the cask, this guy had a smooth, creamy mouthfeel and adds some drinkability to this brew. However, it lacks depth and complexity. A bigger flavor profile would speak volumes.

-Served on cask @ location 1-9-10.

A: Poured a rustic-amber with caramel brown highlights and a rolling brass turbidity compliments of the beer engine. When things settled the beer was capped off by a thin, creamy styro-foam white head, that despite its small statue, was strong and well lasting. The lacing provided a near glass covering experience on its way down.

S: The nose was sweet caramel, dried toffe, with soft touches of fresh raisins. There was an underlying sense of nuttiness, particularly that of walnuts. The nose quickly faded however, so get your fill early on because it doesn't last much.

T: The flavor had a thin, dry caramelized malting along with some apple skins. A soft nuttiness is also present. There is a bit of dry spiciness going on after the swallow of nutmeg and walnuts.

M: The mouthful was soft, compliments of the beer engine providing a light and fluid feel on the tongue which sits well for this style. I only wished it had a bit more fullness and creaminess.

D: Drinkability was ok, nothing spectacular or one that would hold my interest beyond the initial serving. A single glass is fine. Drinks bigger then its abv suggest with a fair amount of flavoring.

An awesome looking beer. Poured brown but not opague. Amazing heading on this beer. The bubbles slowly drift upward to make an extremly thick creamy coffee colored heading. Lacing and heading was in full force to the end with some to spare.

Smell was roasted malts,a dark chocolate aroma detected.

Taste was all espresso. This one shocked me as it does not smell like it. Dark bitter chocolate comes into play but again the espresso taste just kicks right back in.

Mouth is velvety smooth but watered down a bit.Fullbodied and excellent carbonation. Just a little to watered down for my liking.

Drink is good I could definetly have another one goes down very smooth. Not too heavy but does have a some pop to it.
