Served in a chalice at the Lancaster brewpub.

A: The ale is a golden orange color, bright in the mid-day sunlight. Slight haziness impedes an otherwise brilliant glass. A finger of white head lasts for the first quarter of the glass.

S: The nose has a strong Belgian profile anchored by a dry yeast. Pepper and candi sugars are barely able to peep through. The alcohol isn't an issue, never getting in the way of the ale. A very nice ale.

M: The mouthfeel is dry but full, you won't get bored sipping on this one.

D: Even at nearly 10% this one is extremely quaffable. It's not a sessionable ale but a glass or two wouldn't hurt.

T: The dryness in the nose is very pleasant here, drying nicely and making me want a follow-up sip. Candi sugars create a sweet element atop the bready malts. Peppery zest adds to the dryness.

a: This was a slightly hazy golden color that leaned toward the dark side. It was served to me with a short lived, fluffy white cap.

s: Fairly mild aromas of banana esters, candied sugar, and tingly spices. There was some moderate heat as well.

t: Wow, much more flavorful than the smell would suggest. Moderately sweet, yeasty banana flavors are complimented by candied sugars. The sweetness never gets out of hand as the dry, spicy, and flowery finish helps even things out. There is some heat here, but it works very well with this one.

m: Very thick and gently carbonated.

d: The carbonation may have needed adjusting, which accounts for the slightly lower apperance and aroma scores. No mistake though, this is a great beer.
