So my buddy Ehammond1 shows up to a bottleshare with a bottle with no label on it and I get excited. He tells me it is a Bourbon barrel quad and oh boy do I get excited. Actually my pants got alittle tighter at that moment so I had to walk away from him and go find a cute girl. Anyway on to the review
Look: Pours a darker shade of brown with mahogany traces throughout the beer and no head
Smell: The nose is full of sour dark fruits with a touch of bourbon. Wait why does this smell sour???
Taste: God damn it. First sip and all you get is sour cherries lovely another infected barrel again process
Mouthfeel: Medium body and medium carbonation
Overall: I really have to thank Eric for this infected mess of a beer. At least I believe it to be infected because it is just a sour mess and had zero characters of being a quad or bourbon barrel to it. Avoid

Thanks to ehammond1 for sharing this one at MrHirschybar's place!
Pours a clear brown that has no head and no lace. Interesting. Smell is of bourbon and some sour dark fruits. Taste is the same with a sour fruit presence mixed with the bourbon barrel flavors. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that perhaps has an infection or something as I am not too sure that this one is supposed to be sour. It still smells and tastes pretty good however.

Had this on tap at the West Chester location.
I am a big fan of the Belgians they brew at IH West Chester. I am also a big fan of the bourbon barrel beers they do here. But this one did not work for me at all.
Looks good, a dark, murky brown with a thin creamy tan head.
All of the smells and flavors of the quad were overwhelmed by the bourbon character and the alcohol heat (not warmth, heat). I could not finish this one, and that does not happen often.

Pours dark mahogany with barely a trace of ruby peering through when held to a light.
A half-inch head of beige quickly rose and fell, leaving behind a placid surface and zero lacework.
Aromatics are a blend of bourbon and dark chocolate up front, with grape jam and dark fruit following through. Raisins, vanilla, and some woody notes step forward, but the bourbon and chocolate are unrelenting.
On the thick side of medium bodied. Fairly chewy and tacky. Approaching the mouthfeel of a smaller Imperial Stout.
Rich, dark chocolate and a blast of bourbon lead off the pallet. Dark rum, raisins, grape jam, caramel, and vanilla rise up.
A faint note of orange marmalade struggles to peer through the chocolate and bourbon.
Finishes with lingering boozy bourbon, bitter chocolate, and dark rum-soaked raisins.
Wowza, great beer. Very different from Iron Hill's regular quad. Thicker and quite chocolaty, and of course the bourbon.
