Had a pint of Hopzilla this past weekend (it is still brewed in West Chester).
A- Golden-copper-brown with a 1/2 inch head. A bit darker than many IPA's.
S- Nice floral pine hops, makes you want to take the first sip!
T- This is one of the better IPA's with a clean malty-ness yet IPA punch!
M- Just as all the other Iron Hill beers, this beer has a smooth, yet crisp feel to it with a creamy head.
D- You can't go sloshing Hopzilla down, as this beer was meant to be cherished slowly.
Overall, one of the best IPAs I have had. On tap, it is so fresh and the atmosphere can't be beat!

My 1500th review. Nice, it's a hop bomb, served on cask and I get to add it!
Brewed exclusively with Amarillo hops, how could this be bad? Served from cask at appropriate cellar temperature.
A-Brilliant golden hued copper with a medium, foamy head that reduced slowly to a thin cap and left decent lace.
S-Well balanced caramel malt and typical Amarillo hop pop with plenty of lemon zest, a spicy zip and a touch of cat box thrown in for good measure.
T-Again, very balanced. The malt and hop bill are almost equal in their power. I prefer a hop forward brew but this one is not malt forward either....it truly is amazingly balanced.
M-Medium bodied with a nice sharp biting hop spiciness that lingers through the pint.
D-Good stuff. I would like more hops in my Hopzilla but...hey, an easy drinking and flavourful one is ok too. Well done, with incredible balance, this one is not hard to like especially when served on cask!

On tap at the West Chester outpost.
A-Pours a clear golden peach with a drop of honey. fluffy white head and nice lacing.
S-Great nose. Plenty of floral and pine hops with just a light touch of malt.
T-Tasty, with mostly earthy hoppiness and some piney zing.
M-Medium bodied and a little oily.
D-Very nice. Doesn't quite live up to the promise of its name but this is still a quite drinkable hoppy IPA.

Served from the tap the beer exibited a dull copper color that was very clear. The aroma was imediatlely hoppy with scents of flowers and citrus fruit. The hop aroma was not overpowering though, allowing the delicate scent of the sweet caramel malt base to come through. As expected, the beer's flavor was very hoppy. If there were ester or phenol flavors, the were masked by the hops. Overall, the beer's bitterness gave it a refreshing quality, although I think it lacked a certain amount of complexity (green apple flavors, butterscotch, ect.) because of this quality. Too, with any hoppy beer, they lack a certain drinkabillity because of the aquired taste these well-brewed beers deserve.

On tap at the new Iron Hill location in Lancaster, PA on 12/23/07.
A - Orange/amber body with one-finger frothy, white head. Very modest carbonation. Not much head retention, but left fantastic lacing in its wake.
S - Very fresh citrus hop aroma that's big on grapefruit. Other than that, I'm really only getting a touch of caramel sweetness and some honey notes. Sticky citrus hops all the way!
T - Sticky, wet citrus hop flavor followed by a bready aspect and some graininess and caramel/honey sweetness in the back. Very well balanced. Average bitter finish, but not overly bitter, as the name might suggest.
M - Medium body with fairly watery texture. Mildly prickly on the tongue. Finish is a tad chalky and bitter. A warm bitterness envelopes the tongue.
D - Very tasty hoppy ale from Iron Hill. Much hoppier than the Ironbound Ale. Not overly complex, but nicely balanced and big on the citrus hops. Some interesting malt flavors and sweet aspects in addition to the fresh hops make this a highly drinkable brew.

I can't believe this beer isn't on BA, I've had it multiple times. Anyway..
Served in my 24oz "Mug Club" mug
Smell is nice, clean smell of hops, touch of alchohol, but not much
Taste follows suit, tastes very clean, as does all Iron Hill brews, Huge hit of hops up front, very little sweetness to balance it out. I think this beer is un-balanced, but tastes good nonetheless.
Overall, good brew, but the Ironbound and Oatmeal Stout are still my favorites.
