Pours a hazy peach color with very little clarity, a small layer of head and minimal lacing. The nose smells like artificial candied peaches/ Notes of sugar, syrup, fruit juice and caramel comes through. Smells like it is going to be sickeningly sweet. The taste is as expected, straight sugary sweetness with artificial peach highlights. Not much else to taste here. The mouthfeel is thick and mildly carbonated. This brew is a bit of a mess, it tastes artificial and the flavors are cloying. No thanks.

330ml bottle. Don't know what Mel' means in French or Flemish, but my wife's name is Mel, and she's a peach, so I'm going with that.

This beer pours a hazy, apricot-tinged golden amber hue, with two fingers of foamy, bubbly off-white head, which leaves a very low ring of ebbing lace around the glass as it duly recedes.

It smells mostly of sweet peach juice, a bit of bitter citrus, and some very faint grainy malt notes. The taste is still quite peachy (sorry, babe), but now with more visible (metaphorically speaking) sweet grainy, slight sour bready maltiness, a little bit of apricot stoniness, some musky white wine mustiness, and some slightly soused leafy hops.

The bubbles are prominent, but gentle with their imbued power, the body medium in weight, in that fruit-juice way, and mostly smooth, in a drying sort of manner. It finishes off-dry, and fruity, sure, with a semi-serious stab at balance from the turtling malt and ethereal hops.

Not too shabby a fruit beer, I would put forth, for it sure is peachy, in the literal sense now, but some consideration is at least given to the flip side, whose drying notes go far to make this actually more drinkable than a poorly-made smoothie. Oh, right - the 17-proof ABV sure does a number in its shadow impersonation.

A: Pours a lightly hazy deep orange in color with some almost reddish highlights and moderate amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a two finger tall creamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a very thick film covering the entire surface of the beer with a slightly thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of peach in the aroma (especially when you first open this beer) along with some fruit sweetness and very light amounts of citrus/orange hops.

T: Upfront there is a light amount of pale malts followed by moderate peach flavors and some lighter citrus/orange hop notes.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation.

O: Easier to drink than expected with the higher ABV - the sweetness and peach flavors hide the alcohol well and the beer is well balanced with the citrus hops. Very enjoyable.

Bottle labeled "Peche Mel - Scaldis". 11.2oz bottle split into tasters with the wife...

A: Hazy gold body with a decent ring of off-white head.

A: Fruity as expected, with lots of sweet aromas...peaches, apricot, white grapes...pleasant tartness, and some malt breadiness.

T: Slightly more balanced taste with peaches mixing with the malty sweet backbone of the beer. Its a sweet beer but not cloying. Apricot and other stone fruits, sugary, with a sweet white grape/moscato finish.

MF: Well carbonated creamy mouthfeel with a medium body...a pleasant light tartness cuts slightly through the sweetness.

O: Great fruit flavor here with lots of sweetness, low bitterness. Notes of sweet wine and other stone fruit, plus a moderate malt base, make this an elegantly diverse peach beer.

Enjoyed by me on tap at Chef Paul’s Bavarian Lodge in Lisle, Illinois July 26th, 2012 in the presence of my brother in law Mat. I believe the place had been renamed simply “Bavarian Lodge” but I still refer to it as “Chef Paul’s.” By any name this is a world class BeerAdvocate place. Anyone reading this should seek it out.

A Strongly fruit nose…certainly peach. Nothing if not interesting. 4.0

S Huge, creamy head that lingered for minutes. 4.5

T Excellent, authentic sweet peach taste that might be the best tasting fruit beer that I have ever had. There is also a great sweet cream taste along with the peach. Really, really good. I would not change a thing. 5.0

M Smooth as silk and a real plus for this beer. 4.5

D/O Great drinkability and overall this is a great fruit beer. 4.5

Notes: Fruit beers are not my favorite but this is a great tasting beer. Rated based on its style, this beer is a winner. Another interesting selection from “Chef Paul’s!”

Into a tulip glass it pours a dark saturated orange tone, bright and jewel toned. A wall of white foam extends to the rim of the glass and not a millimeter over. No visible carbonation, though there is some very fine micro sediment in suspension.

Pleasant fruity peach aroma, the canned in syrup variety.

Full bodied, sweet and vaguely tart up front with a little bit of booze lingering in the end. Hard to tell what the base beer is, as the peach juice addition forms the majority of it's taste. Sherry comes to mind... no, more like schnapps. Though not overly sweet thankfully, but simply imagine canned peaches in beer form, and there you have it. A somewhat one-dimensional wine-cooler alternative.

A- This beer pours a hazy dried orange hue with a thick light beige foam and a wall of microcarbonation gliding up the side of the glass.

S- The peach blossom aroma has some dry honey notes and borders the line between syrupy and natural fruit. It also turns a bit perfumy as the beer opens.

T- The sweet canned peach flavor has some mellow sweetness and honey notes to follow with a caramel malt touch underneath. There is a slightly dry bitter note in the finish.

M- The medium mouthfeel has a gentle fizz and no alcohol heat noticed.

O- The nice fresh canned peach flavor is just a bit to sweet but not really overpowering. It could use a bit more malt flavor to balance the fruit.

On tap at Lucky Baldwin’s Trappiste Pub & Cafe in Pasadena, CA.

Pours a murky honey orange with a foamy tan head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy patches of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of peaches, peach juice, apricots, and peach/apricot jam and jelly aromas. Taste is much the same with a slight malt finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with a great fruit presence in the aroma and taste that make it super easy to drink.
