A finger of head on a hazy, medium straw colored body. It looks better than most.
The aroma is a dirty barnyard, a little musty grain. Not offensive but not good either.
The taste has a medium bitterness throughout and finishes on a sweet note. A nice and simple profile.
The texture is crisp with a bit too much carbonation.
I still put this above average. I could see myself throwing these down in some small, southern Ukrainian town... come to think of it, I have.

A: The beer is clear straw yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that died down, leaving a thin head covering the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Faint aromas of grainy malts and skunk are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of adjunct and grainy malts along with notes of grassy hops, green apples and skunk plus a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer isn't that difficult to drink, but the green bottle and trip across the pond might contribute to the light amount of skunkiness in the aroma and taste.

500ml bottle, 5.2% ABV. The word 'Ale' is prominent in its presence on the label, and interesting, depending on how one might approach the offerings of this brewery.
This beer pours a slightly hazy, pale straw colour, with two fingers of flatly foamy, dirty white head, which leaves some blotchy seaside cave lace around the glass as it efficiently abates.
It smells of bready cereal grain, cut dead grass and overripe hay, with a mild musty funkiness. The taste is more cereal-oriented bready pale malt, a softly innocuous generic fruitiness, and decently forward wild grass and hayseed graininess, with only the meekest of green-bottle skank essence bleeding through.
The carbonation is average in its supportive duties, the body medium-light in weight, but only just so, and the smoothness agreeable enough in its inoffensiveness. It all finishes sweetly grainy, of the aforementioned sort, and farmer's field hoppy, but in more of a bland, muddled manner.
Well, not the mess I was anticipating, given the general classification and label confusion (what is with the Ale proclamation, anyway?), but rather a so-so attempt at a middle European pilsner archetype. They mostly succeed, as the unfortunately expected industrial runoff essences are kept to a minimum here. I'd have another of these, actually.

500ml bottle. Lager glass. Enjoyed on jun´12. Bright pale gold in color & crystal clear appearance. White, close froth. Fairly well retention crown. Herbal & citric aromas with a subtle yeasty touch, corn grain hues. Clean bitterness & citric wedge flavor. Crispy, slightly sparkling in the middle. Light body. Moderate carbonation. Smooth & malty palate. Long bitter finish. Above the medium average of the Style. Nice drinkability. Good Pale Lager session beer.

500 ml bottle. Pours hazy straw with a long lasting white head. Aroma is of hay and some grassy hops. Body is medium and smooth. Taste is of bready malt, some grassy hops, citrus and apple. Finish is short and slightly sweet. I would not buy a second bottle of this.

Appearance is a clear, bright straw color. Head is white and creamy and stands 4 fingers high, with good lacing and very good retention.
Aromas are typical for the style, of cut grass and hay, plus a bit of spiciness and funk.
Taste is crisp, showing low hop bitterness balanced against a light pale malt sweetness. Mouthfeel is clean and highly carbonated. The body is in the thin to medium range. The beer finishes slightly dry and spicy, with a slight bitter aspect.
Overall this is a decent example in the pale lager category - not a flashy beer, but I enjoyed it for what it is. A good cold beer to reach for on a hot day.

Out of a bottle this beer was a pale golden color with one finger of off-white head. The retention was poor and there was no lacing to speak of. The aroma was of adjunct grains, booze, pale malt and lager yeast. The flavors were boozy and reminded me of a Euro Strong Lager; more like a punchy malt liquor without the finesse the style can show. Grainy, dry and rather ‘coarse’ like that jerk who invited himself to the party and just won’t leave. A slighter bitter hoppy finish added something to it, but not much. The body was light/medium, the carbonation low and the mouthfeel a little watery. Boo.

Pour: Typical lager look. Yellow and no head at all
Smell: Bit of a skunk smell similar to Heineken or Becks
Taste: A litter bitterness, no real malt or hops taste. Very similar to Heineken or Becks. A typical euro lager.
An okay beer but a bit disappointed. Was hoping for a bit more

Appearance has a golden straw yellow color with thin but steady head and scattered lace. Smell of slight skunk when first cracked then the sweet malts combined with the hops arose. Taste of the sweet malt balances with the hops leaving a yeasty slight bitter dry in the end. Mouthfeel is light with good carbonation. Not bad for the style.

"High Quality Ukranian Magnat Ale" O rly?
Skunky grassy overtones, sticky white foam caked on a bright gold body. Immediately starts sticking to the glass, creating a flecked pattern of Jackson Pollock lacing, concentric rings of foam. Super pale, slightly anemic pastel gold.
Dry and grassy aroma, plenty of noble hops present. Smells like a Czech Pils or equivalent.
Tastes like cardboard soaked in euro lager, bleh. Flaccid and grainy, wet grain husks. A little bit of cardboard and tacky glue. Dry aftertaste. Oxidized pilsner malt and wet paper. Green bottles aren't doing any favors here, and it sure as hell ain't classy... even with the gold foil. Industrial lager gone wrong. Avoid at all costs...

A: Pours a thin and clear pale gold with a thin white head and medium sized carbonation bubbles.
S: Kind of skunky, then herbal and spicy. Musky and a little sweaty.
T: Malt and slight hops, grain and then skunk. Flavor is up front with no aftertaste. Drying finish. It is still somehow crisp and clean. Tastes like a pilsner, actually.
M: Thin, dry, and watery. Standard lager style mouthfeel and texture.
O: Whatever. It's a beer that people probably won't largely object to, but it's nothing special.

Pale yellow with thin white head. Aroma is corn and full of metal, sweet metal to be more precise.
Taste is slightly malty, bread, bits of herbal hops and metallic bitterness is the drying finish. Mouthfeel is medium with average carbonation.
Industrial lager in a bad way, certainly not worth trying.

Ugly, shamefully ugly. Creating any semblance of a head is a desperate struggle; this pours like soda pop. It looks like a sort of carbonated apple juice. But never mind all that, what about its inner beauty? It's personality? If the aroma is any indication, well there ain't much there. Caramel corn, sorta pretzel-y malts, cornbread. Hops are not on the menu. Not off-putting, but hardly enticing. On the palate... typical for a Soviet lager, heavy handed on the sweetness with a hop profile just as bold and beautiful as a tangle of fishing line. There are flavors, but they are hardly worth describing. Oh, very well: caramel, parsley, stale bread. The one thing this beer has going for it is a near dearth of off-flavors - that and a surprisingly brisk, dry finish. Not a beer I will buy again, but not a beer I won't finish.

Appearance - This came out a nice orangish-yellow with a beautiful, full white head.
Smell - The grain here is very stale and overly sugared.
Taste - This tastes worse than it smells. The grain takes on a putrid character with some moldy orange notes.
Mouthfeel - This is a tad bigger than light-bodied with dull carbonation.
Sinkability - It certainly looked the part but failed to deliver.

The appearance has to be described as hazy blonde. Not very bitter but hops are aromatic. Fair amount of malt and a bit thick in the mouth, pleasantly so. Reminds me of the old Chesterfield Ale from Yeunglings with the sweetish, flowery flavors and a nice bite of hops. This beer is kind of flat on the palate while the bitterness remains. Seems maltier as you sip.
Not bad, especially with a plate of sausage and cabbage. Tasted at Petrushka, a San Diego restaurant that has quite a variety of eastern Europe beers.

Pours a slightly hazy, pale yellow. 2/3 inch head of a white color. Good retention and slight lacing. Smells of hops, pale malt, yeast, sulfur, and very slight citrus. Fits the style of a Euro Pale Lager. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of yeast, pale malt, slight metallic, hint of hops, and slight citrus. Overall, a rather average Euro Pale Lager, except for the sulfur aroma and taste.

Magnat is profoundly bland. It's a bit like drinking slightly hoppy tonic water. There are no bad off notes, besides a musty hop aroma. It's pale yellow in color with a dissipating but not terrible head. The beer has little detectable aroma. I can barely even smell it while I'm drinking. The flavor is light malt sweetness with a nice, refreshing hop bite in the finish. It's not really bad in any particular way, but it's very light even for 5.3% abv. This beer could be .53% abv and I wouldn't be surprised. The lightness and mild hop bite make this a very easy beer to drink. A cold glass of Magnat would be quite refreshing on a hot day.
