Served in a pint glass out of a 12 oz bottle. This was a trade pick-up for me from ThePorterSorter.
A: Pours a respectable fizzy deep red coloration with a slight but heady foam. Crystal clear and translucent ruby with moderate carbonation. Lacing is unremarkable with no cling, and settles fast. Easy to pour.
S: Bubblegum big time. Juicy fruit and malt on the nose.
T: Malty with plenty of tropical bubblegum flavors. Mineral notes and some roast, but it's slight. Some anise and nut flavors. Hops barely assert themselves.
M: It drinks fine. It's wet and leaves a slight astringency.
O: To me, this style always tastes like the wort from a Belgian ale without the adjunct spices, and that's what i'm getting from this beer. It's like a half-baked Belgian ale. It's o.k., just not something i'm gushing about.

Pour into a standard pint glass yields a one finger, quickly dissipating head of a seafoamy-pale-yellow hue, atop an attractive red/amber body. I would have thought it a red ale upon first glance. First smell lets you know this is, indeed, a strong ale with a sharp alcohol note preceding the smell of a bakery, a bread bakery... with some sweetness present the entire time. First sip, yep, this is strong, no effort to balance the alcohol taste with the other flavors. I actually really like the flavor, style and off notes aside. Reminds me of biscotti, cashew, rye bread, faint maple syrup flavor, with the alcohol taste almost distracting from all that. Mouthfeel is just off. To quote Monty Python, this beer is like making love in a canoe. It’s fucking close to water. Next to no lacing down the glass. Ultimately, I like this brew if I don’t have any style in mind. A little crude, doesn’t have the “stuff” of a finer, more enjoyable beer, but it’s highly drinkable. People are saying it tastes bad... I don’t get it. Genessee Light... that’s a bad tasting beer. This stuff’s not the best, but I’d throw one in a pick 6 if I were presented the opportunity again.
