A: hazy golden orange body with a half finger of white foamy head that quickly dies leaving just a bit of lacing

S: big wheat tones up front, very light citrus undertones

T: wheaty/slight citrus

M: light to medium, very sessionable, adequate carbonation

O: though I had it in a pilsener, it was still a good beer for its style and to me; I`d have another

Had on tap at Portsmouth. Review from notes.

A: Served in a tall weizen glass, the beer was extremely hazy, light orange in color with yellow highlights. Small ring of foam on top minimal lacing.

S: A little bit of honey and wheat with some light citrus. There is a little bit of a yeast aroma as well.

T: Very wheaty with little else going on really. Some very light citrus hops and faint fruit flavors.

M: On the lighter side of medium bodied with low to medium carbonation.

O: It was just ok. Not bad, but a little boring especially after the other beers I had that day.

Poured on-tap at the Portsmouth Brewery and served in a weisse glass. The beer is a cloudy goldenrod color, with no head whatsoever. There is a light spicing, with a fruity balance to the aroma. The flavors are a citrus sweet blend, with light spicing in the background, mostly coriander. Very tasty. There is a tangy sweet aftertaste, with a puckering finish. The citrus notes really kick in strongly at the end. Tart, but tasty!

Pours a clear yellow with a touch of white head. Not too highly carbonated. Smells fairly non descript. Sweet and kinda boring. Tastes boring but very drinkable. Overall a pretty solid lager but nothing special. I think this is miscatagorized... O well, still an interesting one that i enjoyed

Poured on tap at the Portsmouth brewery into a pilsner style glass.

Very nice simple light orange and consistent throughout. Opqaue in appearance with a nice standard like white head and fluffy. Looks like a hefeweizen. Some minimal lacing while drinking. This beer also looks a little flat as well.

Bouquet is once again very closed, perhaps a faint lemon but that's about it.

Bready light malt in taste and spice. Does lean to clove in the mid palate, but a bigger bread punch on the finish and swallow. Feel is pretty good too almost crisp but balancing some good density.

Overall this is alright, but I know I've had better.

22oz bottle into a Augustiner Weissbier glass. Purchased in…April of 2011?

A – An aggressive pour produced rather short head which disappeared rather quickly, although it left lacing all down the side of the glass. A lovely golden color. A bit hazy as expected.

S – Grain, yeasty, a bit of citus in the nose.

T –More of a citric hop pucker than the aroma would predict. A long noble hop finish as well. Flavorful, but not massively so.

M – A heavier body than most , but medium body is still the best descriptor. Really lacking in carbonation for my taste.

O- I’m kind of underwhelmed. While the flavor was good for the style, the low carbonation made this a bit of a drag to drink. I truly don't remember how long I've had this bottle in the DBF, but maybe it is past its prime. I'll try a fresher one the next time I have an opportunity to do so.

22oz bottle into shaker.

A - Pours a straw yellow with a golden center. Decent white head with lots of fizzy bubbles. Hazy

S - Citric lemon and oranges, pepper, grainy, some caramel.

T - This beer has a good heft of citric (again, lemony and orange), some grassy hop bitterness but lots of grains. Seems off-balanced and the very slight sweetness from the malts makes a brief appearance in the back

M/O - Medium to light, crisp but way to effervescent for my tastes. Overall not a bad beer, not something I'd reach for regularly but is a nice summer brew.

Acquired from the bottle shop in Portsmouth 6/11
Poured in to a pint glass

A: This beer pours a hazy golden color with a 1/4 inch of white head. Head disappears immediately leaving minor spots of lacing on the glass.

S: Nose is rather malty, a good deal of wheat, and fruit essence.

T: Taste starts with yeast and a touch of malt. A bit of banana fruitiness comes in with some grassy hop notes. Finish has a continued hay, grass flavor with a good deal of malt.

M: Lighter body, medium carbonation, slightly oily at first with a dry finish.

D: Goes down rather easy, somewhat tasty, not too filling, ok representation of style. This is a decent beer, good on a hot summer day. I may not seek it out again, but I wouldn't turn it away.

Poured into a pint glass. Real hazy golden straw color with a fizzy layer of head that vanishes almost right away.

A touch of fruitiness here. Rasperries come to mind with a little bit of spicy hops in the background. Light slightly toasty malts on this one. A little bit doughy one the pallet with lots of toasty grains. A little bit of banana with a very light hop bittering in the background.

The body on this seems a bi thick and somewhat head. THe carbonation is also a little bit on the soft side. A bit to be desired on the feel but it's not a deal breaker. OVerall a decent beer. Always glad to grab a bottle or two of this from the shop when they've got it.

Tap at brew pub

Light fizzy head hazy pale golden orange wheat color.

Nose light malts, light straw, touch of fruity lager aromas, light citrus and touch of banana.

Taste starts light creamy toasty malts, light overall, bit of citrus and and light spices, touch of grassy and spicy hops, wheat, light banana and fruity lager yeast flavors. Finishes a bit drier from the semi sweet start, lingering wheat and lager flavors.

Mouth is lighter bodied, decent carb.

Overall decent, nice light flavors, good summer beer.

Thanks to Gosox8787 for this. Shared with my wife over our supper, homemade pizza.

Poured from a bomber into my Portsmouth pint glass.

Appearance: Light gold body with is clear with a slight haze and 2 fingers of foam that don't hold strong.

Smell: Mostly yeast and a bit of banana, not much else.

Taste: Wheat, with some banana and citrus. Doughy a bit maybe and gains a spice-like edge as it warms.

Mouthfeel: Prickly carbonation that isn't overdone and a body that is pretty good.

Drinkability: Easy to quaff though i didn't feel like i was entirely satisfied.

Overall: Average beer that has a decent flavor profile but left me kind of ho-hum.

Got this at the brewery a couple months back. 22oz bomber...

A: Golden yellow with a small very white head that quickly fades to a lace on top of the brew. Decent.

S: I get some grassy rye upfront. Hard to get much else. Eh.

T: Some nice flavors. Some bready rye upfront blended with some bitter hop flavor faint on the backend. Good.

M: Medium body with a great carbonation feel. Very good.

D: Goes down super easy. Very good.

All in all, this is a decent brew. Not awesome, but decent. Not worth hunting, but try if you get the chance.

22oz bomber.
A) Pours with a finger thick head, tight and creamy. Quickly settles to big bubbles at the edge of the glass. Hazy, golden orange body.
S) Grainy. A pleasant caramel malt aroma - of which was not expected.
T) Nutty. Caramel sweetness with a citrus bite - lemon-esque but not a negative effect. Finishes grainy dry with a lingering
M) Light on the carbonation side - feels similar to a cask pull. Smooth. Light body. Chewy.
D) A nice brew. Wouldn't be my first pick every time but I'd have another.

22oz bottle. sampled aug 1/2010.

pours hazy deep yellow with a small cap of fine white head. the head quickly drops to a ring around the glass and leaves a bit of spotty lace.

aroma is nice. caramel and honey. buttery. bit of light citrus. multi-grain bread and cracker. bit of biscuit. touch of tropical fruit - pineapple and mango mostly. hint of alcohol.

taste is nice. honey and buttery caramel. whole wheat bread. bit of alcohol. tropical fruit - pineapple and mango - and a touch of citrus. just a touch of weizen spice. low bitterness level.

mouthfeel is ok. medium-light body. low carbonation level.

drinkability is nice. hides its alcohol pretty well.

22 oz bottle, big thanks to MasterSki for the hookup.

Pours a lightly cloudy yellow, a touch of amber and light orange, thin white head forms and settles down to a thin ring around the glass, no real lacing.

Smell is nice, lightly sweet and malty, a touch of honey and wheat, some toast, a bit of butter, some banana, a touch of spice, a bit of citrus, some lemon rind and a bit of orange, crackery, a touch of vanilla, not bad.

Taste is very light, somewhat bland, light banana and honey, a bit of sweet/sour, some lemons, a touch of spice and biscuit, wheat, buttery in the finish with a very light anise note.

Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium carbonation. Smooth and drinkable but a bit bland and a few off flavours. Thanks Alex!

40F in a pint glass 22oz bottle

A- hazy gold with very little head (I'm betting they fill these bottles from the tap and cap them)

S- a sweet spicy aroma

T- mild bitterness with a mild malt flavor

M - full body

D- very pleasant. Could use more carbonation. Though I'm not a fan of the genre, I go for it again.

Poured a light copper hue with a thin assemblance of foam. There was little retention and lacing.

The smell featured a thin round malt and grassy hop.

The taste consisted of a simple light grain, a hint of wheat and a light lemony hop.

The mouthfeel was a bit thin.

Pretty uneventfull. I was expecting more thinking this was a brewery only selection.

Poured into a hefe glass. Slightly dark amber color with a thin off white head that lasted 5-10 minutes. Smell was very slightly sweet, grains was the predominant aroma. Taste was clean, matched with the aroma. Mostly grains with a small touch of citrus sweetness. Felt good in the mouth. Coated nicely, with a decent amount of carbonation. Very good beer to drink on a hot 90+ degree day.

This is light lawnmower beer and that's about it. It pours a fairly pale yellow color with a bit of creamy white head that dissipates quickly. No lacing. You really have to stick your nose in the glass, cup your hands over them, to get any aroma out of this waterlogged beer. There is some wheaty and grassy notes, a touch of citrusy lemon too, but it is very light.

The taste is a bit grassy and herbal with not enough sweetness to make this a good wheat beer. It has a touch of lemony citrus but it has that flat lemon, almost cardboard like flavor from pale wheat beers that don't extract enough residual sweetness out of their grainy base. The beer is a touch coarse as a result, with a little bit of a bite at the end, and no real sweetness and just a bit too dry. There is no yeastiness to keep this interesting either. This is pretty thin fair, unassuming, harmless, and forgettable.

Good beer, had it on tap at the brewery, I think this was one of the early batches of the beer. Tasted like a hefe in that it was yellow and sort of fruity, but with a little something extra, not as yellow, had a little more of a malty quality to it. I liked it, but nothing really jumped out at me, but still a solid beer. Something I would not have a problem ordering or drinking pretty often, better than other wheat ales I have had, because it has a strong, and complex flavor. Some wheat ales can be bland to me, but this one was not. Solid but not spectacular, no complaints.

Take home bomber from the brewery in October. Retained freshness very well. Poured into a pint glass.

A: Very cloudy, golden yellow. Hazy - with minimal white foam.

S: Very faint - light lemon, if anything.

T/M: Very clean, yet not crisp, with a light citrus tone. Very mild hop at the finish. Modestly wheaty. Good carbonation.

D: Overriding cleanliness with a mild wheat lemon flavor makes for an easily drinkable brew. Very much enjoyed.

Pours from my bomber into a pint glass an ever-so-slightly hazy pale gold with a small white head.

Scent is very hard to discern unfortunately. After concentrating for a while I get fresh bread primarily.

Taste is fresh doughy bread, a touch of honey sweetness, a very light hop bitterness. Citrus and spice notes are there but are somewhat faint. Very clean, crisp and easy to drink.

Mouth is crisp, dry and light.

Drinkability is exceptional.

Weizenheimer is probably a very good beer to start a neophyte craft beer drinker on. Very crisp and easy to drink. A decent session ale and although it doesn't tickle my fancy the way Portsmouth's bolder and more complex ales do, I have to say this is still a tasty and well crafted beer and I am enjoying drinking it.

Wanted to start with a lighter beer and work my way up to Bottle Rocket IPA.

My pint came with a very thin frothy head, the beer slightly hazy bright yellow and there was lots of actie carbonation

Almost no aroma . Seriously almost nothing. The slightest sweet/fresh aroma, but that's it.

Flavor was very bready and light. There was a slight sweetness and an even slighter spice note.
Crisp finish with a slight citrus flavor at the end. Very clean and refreshing.

Very light body. Carbonation sparkled.

Very drinkable and clearly a session beer. Not as big and complex as other Portsmouth offerings, but a nice refreshing alternative.

Nice hazy looking light brown orange body with a semi low-carbonated white head. Bubbles line the glass initially.

The smell is mostly of sweet banana, a little bit of cracked wheat, some orange sweetness and a prominent skunky scent.

The taste is initially good. Tons of citrus including astringent orange, and ripe banana. Then it tapes off into a harsh grainy taste that is some what displeasing. The sweetness lingers through.

Not my first choice on a hot sumer day.

A: Pours a slightly hazy light golden color that is almost a dark straw. No head, and no lacing.

S: Smells pretty plain, some light graininess mixed in with some light lemon zest. It is all pretty faint though.

T: Pretty grainy up front, same as the middle actually with some light breadiness there too. The end finishes with even more breadiness and some light lemon zest.

M: Dry, crisp, well carbonated.

D: Not a bad beer, just lacking in the flavor department.
