Appearance - Poured into a Portsmouth Brewery glass. A soft, two-finger width, off-white/cream colored head set atop a beautiful dark orange IPA. As the head faded, it left a generous amount of lacing sticking to the glass all the way around.
Aroma - Strong flavors pop off from the summit hops. The smell is dank with onion and garlic flavors. A touch of citrus fruits (orange and grapefruit, specifically) appear at the end.
Taste - A very flavorful IPA. Similar to the aroma, the strong dank/onion/garlic flavors come through up front followed by a nice wave of orange and grapefruit flavors.
Mouthfeel - Medium body on this one with a good amount of carbonation on the tongue. It is smooth as it goes across the tongue with a little bit of bitterness to linger afterwards.
Overall - This brew may be my new favorite from the Portsmouth Brewery (and yes, I have not had Kate the Great or Royal Impy Stout). This is a very well crafted IPA out of the Project X series and as it should, strong flavors come out to play from the summit hops used to brew it.
