a beautiful amber pour with 2 fingers of bubbly off white head, great head retention. smells of raisins, cherry, has a sort of cream ale yeast scent. the flavor is full of tart notes.. definitely getting a hint of barrel aging in here, but not the typical oak/bourbon.. this has a wine barrel feel. slightly sour with notes of plum, grapes, ginger, definitely getting a roasty grain flavor. a high carbonation medium body beer with a healthy abv! doesn't drink like your typical scottish ale, doesn't taste like the typical winter warmer "cinnamon / spice", but i'll be damned if i say this isn't what i was looking for right now. i was hesitant to pick up a bottle to drink because i wasn't in the mood for a sweet beer. this is excellent.

the mouthfeel actually works out for the flavor profile too.. and the alcohol, well i wouldn't have known about the 9% unless i looked up and saw it on here.. you can barely taste any trace of it.

Pours with copious foam into a rinsed glass, after the second pour it takes a while to settle down, but does soon enough. Color is a tawny reddish orange with a slight haze and visible carbonation.

Soft sweetness in the aroma, dried fruit, maple, and sweet tobacco leaf.

Flavors of toasted malt, light spiciness, toffee, dried fruit, and vague oak/toasted coconut. The booze is certainly warming and stings the lips a little. Medium bodied with low carbonation. Definitely a sipper, though it's not especially harsh. Overall a good example of the style, even enjoyed on a May day in the mid 50ºs.

look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Appearance: Hazy Orange. Very fluffy head. Nice lacing and streaming carbonation

Smell: Faded citrus matched with some pete. Some acidic hops. Docile but approachable and satisfying. Wish it was a bit more pronounced.

Taste: Orange peel and hops again. More scotch notes, especially in the aftertaste. Very approachable yet again. A standard of NG.

Mouthfeel: A little bit thin but nothing crazy. Enjoyable and decent carbonation.

Overall: A solid beer. Good notes, complexity, and flavor. I wish some of these beers they would turn the flavor up to 11 instead of 6-7 but thats their trademark. Nothing over the top and enjoying the moderation of a good, balanced beer.
