1 pint 9 fl oz brown glass bottle with waxed-over pressure cap served into a Guinness goblet in me gaff in high altitude Castle Rock, Colorado. Reviewed live. Expectations are through the roof.

Served straight from the refrigerator. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

A: Pours a half finger head of light pink-khaki colour head, decent cream, fair thickness, and bad retention. Body colour is a vibrant ruby.

Sm: Obscenely tart, cranberry, raspberry, cherry, cough syrup taint, and clean malts. A pretty strong aroma.

T: Tart fruit, cherry, raspberry, candy, clean malts, ovarian cough syrup notes, and fruity as hell esters. A bit juicy. Impeccable balance. Incredibly well built.

Mf: Smooth and wet. Complements the flavour profile brilliantly. Perfect carbonation and thickess.

Dr: One of the best beers I've had period. An incredible brew from New Glarus. I'd buy this by the case. Obscenely drinkable.

750ml into a cervoise. The brew pours a clear ruby tinted to copper color with just shy of 3 fingers of tan froth. The cap collapses leaving some sudsy lace sticking in patches and stringy fingers on the glass. A swirl revives a pretty solid finger of silk that fades slowly.

The aroma of this is fresh and fruity with a solid amount of tart indication also emitting from the glass. The cherry quality leads the way in the nose with a slightly medicinal aspect almost like cherry luden cough drops. There is a bit of a dusty or dirty quality also found in the nose that lends an earthen sort of feel all across the middle. That dusty aspect gives this a real natural essence. As the brew warms up, more of a focus switches to the apple character.

The flavor upfront is tart with a character of unripened cherries blended with cranberry. Across the middle is some apple or pear skin character that almost wants to take this brew off in a direction of cider but not quite. The tartness blended with residual sugar makes for almost a medicinal feel to this brew that mildly burns the back of the throat. While this is a pretty juicy fruit beer, there are trace moments of herbal hops coming through that let you know this is still beer. The warmer the brew gets in my glass, the more the apple starts to come through that was initially masked a bit.

This is a medium bodied offering with a modest amount of carbonation. It is very easy drinking with the alcohol seemingly nonexistent. My only gripe is the medicinal aspect that pokes out at times but overall this is pretty good. You get everything as advertised in this: cherry, cranberry and apple in equal parts. I am impressed but this isnt something I would drink regularly.

Big thanks goes out to StayWhatYouAre2 for sending me this one in a past box! Thanks Alex! Shared this one at a recent Random Sunday Tasting! Served from bottle into a Mikkeller taster flute. Poured a deep ruby red-orange with a one finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained phenomenal lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, fruit, apple, raspberry, cherry, and cherry cough drops. The flavor was of sweet malt, fruit, apple, raspberry, cherry, and tart. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty good brew. I am a really big fan of New Glarus’ other offerings and this one was no exception. Tons of sweetness without being too sweet. Tons of fruit without being too fruity. There is just so much going on in this one with a nice balance to top it off that it makes it incredibly easy to drink. A true must try if you have not done so already, especially if you are a fan of Raspberry Tart or Belgian Red. You won’t regret it.

Bummer about the cherry shortage putting Belgian Red on hold, but I've been anxious to try this replacement brew. New Glarus makes fantastic beers showcasing each of these three fruits (cherry, apple, cranberry) so it's no surprise this motley crue of a beer delivers an assault of flavor. Cranberry seems most prominent and provides a real nice tartness. Happy to have more of these bottles in the "cellar"

A- A dark red colour, big head of foam that shrinks down quickly but leaves some nice lacing behind.

S- As soon as I popped the cap, the aromas literally permeated the area around me. Big green apples and sweet cherries every darn where...ooh..I am SO digging it. I could almost hover my nose over the glass for hours but...it's time to take a sip or 2, eh?

T- Oh my! The apples and cherries are there as expected but better executed than even I expected(not my first venture into NG Fruit/Vegetable beers) and then I'm hit with a mild cranberry tartness. Whoah, Nellie, this brew kills it!

M- Medium bodied, carbonation light until near/at/after the swallow where it perks up a bit. MF, like everything else screams nectar of the gods.

O- From my past track record for NG brews, I had high expectations. Those expectations were exceeded! Marvelous true Session beer!

a lovely treat from new glarus. this one was made thanks to a cherry shortage, so cranberries and apples are added to account for the diminished cherry crop. the result is quite pleasant, and perfect for holiday season. the pour is raspberry looking pink in color, maybe a little darker, with a few fingers of fizzy white froth. the nose is remarkably sweet, like fruit candy, but also tart, a sour beer for sure. yeast is interestingly balanced out by the fruit, smells like sour granola. the taste is cranberry and sour yeast tartness at first, and then gently gives way to a holiday spice complex of apple and cinnamon and warming mulling spices, the spice then dies out and a ton of residual sugar is left over. this exacerbates as it warms. great feel with a ton of carbonation, made even lighter and more airy by the thin malt profile and the low abv. a lot like the raspberry tart in the sense that i dont need a whole 750ml bottle of this for myself, but it was a joy to try. i hope for plentiful cherry crops, but i also hope this beer stays in the lineup, a really nice compliment to some of their other fruit beers. the champaigne mouthfeel goes perfectly with the fruit and the sour. well done.

A - Serendipity's cap cracks with a loud carbonation hiss, a prelude to the tall, rocky off-white foam which rests on the beer for quite some time. Stunningly beautiful, this gorgeous beer pours a clear, rich ruby, almost blood red color.

S - It's interesting that this beer is coming in to briefly replace Belgian Red due to the cherry shortage because Serendipity smells incredibly similar. Bold fresh cherry and light cherry skin tannins come through with a juicy red apple nose appearing from a swirl. I'm hard pressed to pick out any cranberries within this aroma but, it's not a hindrance. Earthy tones and faint wood peek out as the fruit beer warms.

T - A happy accident indeed, this beer strays from the Belgian Red-like aroma into it's own unique territory, really coming into it's own. Stronger apple presence reminds us we're in the harvest season and suggests sipping cider at an orchard while cherry and cranberry bring a balancing tartness to the table. Like the aroma before it, earthy and faint wood notes start to emerge carefully as the beer warms up.

M - Pleasantly sweet, Serendipity walks a fine line, cautious not to step onto the cloying side, carefully balanced by spritzy carbonation, a lighter body, and a mildly tart, dry finish. Lingering flavors on the tongue beg for another sip, and another sip, and so on.

O - If you've experienced Belgian Red and Raspberry Tart, you'll find yourself in quite a familiar realm with Serendipity but, this beer doesn't only piggy back on their successes, it flourishes with new and delicious fruit experiences! Serendipity proves, once again, Dan Carey is an expert brewer of fruit beer. Buy without hesitation and be rewarded, for this, without question, will be another award-winning beer from New Glarus.

App- A crimson red with almost no head at all. Maybe a 1/2" of bubbles. Very still with a juice like appearance. No cling or lace.

Smell- Cherries, Apples and Cranberries. Exactly what the label says. Maybe intermixed with some wheat. It's a cherry beer, mixed with some other fruits. Smells awesome. Little bit of tart to it as well.

Taste- So I was actually really surprised by this one. It was really like the combination of both of the other fruit beers and then add it the apple/cranberries. It had a semi good balance of all the flavors and a little bit of oak behind it. Semi cough syrup like consistency of flavors as well.

Mouth- A light/medium body with a nice medium carbonation level to it. Tart cherry wheat aftertaste. With a bit of oak and cranberry. As mentioned in the taste, it was a bit like cough syrup.

Drink- For something so different this was a great tasting beer. A good amount of balanced fruits and then some oak behind it. Not sure belongs in Top 250. But I drove to freaking WI to get it.

A: Clear garnet body with a finger of fine, faint ochre head. Ok retention, spotty lace. Lovely color, acceptable carbonation for the style.

S: Purely fruity, with ripe apple, tart cranberry, and sweet grape. Moderate acidity. Enchanting.

T: Sweet apple and grape up front, with tarter cranberry filling in behind. Crisp, bitter green apple aftertaste. As it warms, the sweetness starts to overwhelm the tartness a bit, giving it a distinct candied character - kind of like grape Laffy Taffy. Now, I love grape Laffy Taffy, but once I had that impression in my mind it was difficult to enjoy the beer as a beer. Still, it was delicious.

M: Creamy medium body. Luscious.

O: Excellent beer, but probably my least favorite of the three New Glarus 750s. It's not really any sweeter than Belgian Red, but that beer's sweetness just tastes like fresh-baked cherry pie; this had a more artificial candy thing going on, and as much as I enjoyed it I just couldn't get past that aspect. If I get the chance to have this again, I'll jump at it, but my fingers are absolutely crossed that there's a better cherry harvest in Door County this year.

This is one of the very best things I've ever drank.

I thought they were just bs'ing me with the whole "Serendipity" tag. There were no cherries because of the drought. So, no annual Belgian Red for mynie on this day of Giving Thanks.

But, fuckit, this was reasonably priced and comes in a cool bottle.

Pours fruit roll-up dark with a small white head. Smells similar to Belgian Red and Raspberry Tart in that you have lightly tart, exceedingly smooth nodes of big, natural fruit along with a silky yeast finish. Tastes the same but oh my god so much is going on, such perfect variegation.

I-it's hard to describe without sounding like I'm just reading the label. Red apples, dried cranberries, real cherries, bready yeast. It's like fruit and candy and beer only, remarkably, it avoids ever becoming messy or cloying. If I were new to drinking and you were to tell me this was a solid example of a particular type of beverage, I would believe you. Even though nothing else like this exists, this exists so perfectly, so wonderfully balanced and sensible without the bounds of its own self-enunciated logic that it simply *has* to be an example of something. Because you can't do that. You can't create the terms by which you're allowed to exist simultaneous to your own existing.

But it's not an exemplar. It's only itself. And itself is perfect.

A: Pours a clear red color with a mild amber hue. There is a layer of off white head that fades to a ring around the glass.

S: Tart like other fruit new glarus offerings. Fruit juice, cranberry, tart cherries. Sweet overall.

T: This one has the trademark new glarus fruity tartness. I'm getting apple juice, cranberry, and tart cherry. The finish is sweet and fruity.

M: medium body with a small amount of tingly carbonation. The finish is dry.

O: glad they made this one. I really enjoy these low abv fruit beers.

Have to admit that I watched eagerly for this one to show up within firing range in Western Wisconsin - New Glarus is the unmatched, undisputed, one-of-a-kind brewer of fruit beers. And here it is, finally. 750ML bomber split with my lovely wife.

Pour the beer & hey, the bottle is green. Didn't see that coming behind the dark liquid. In the glass, it's like a huge garnet exploded into a wet format, lovely, clear dark red. Nose is the expected gushing of fruit, dominated by the cherry, apple leavings. Very nice.

Serendipity continues the fine tradition of fruit dying for the cause. Cherries are still on top of this beer, & constitute about 85.7% of the taste profile, along with a large apple slice. The cranberries I honestly wouldn't have picked out, but they add a slight tartness right at the end that lowers the sugar cane quotient to just below the level of aching teeth. There is more of a cidery echo here - the influence of the apple, of course. Bet you can't take just one sip.

A: Pours a deep ruby red color with a small off white head on top. Decent head retention, leaving a thin cap on top. Minimal lacing.

S: Getting all three fruit flavors on the aroma, with the cherries upfront, cranberries in the middle, and a really nice apple aroma on the finish. Very fruit, similar to other NG fruit beers, very inviting.

T: Again, a very nice blend of all three fruits, with a bit more of an assertive cherry flavor upfront, a bit less cranberry and a smooth apple finish, sort of a cider/apple juice blend flavor. Right after the apple is a slight mouth pucker tartness.

M: Medium bodied and smooth, extremely drinkable, just like Raspberry Tart and Belgian Red.

O: Fantastic, right up there with the other NG fruit beers.

Pours a dark reddish amber color with barely one finger of head that quickly settled to a thin film. Sheets of lacing is left behind down the glass.

One impressive fruit aroma. Can smell all the individual fruit components. Apples, cherries, and cranberries combine to create a wonderful appetizing smell. A bit of tartness underlies the fruit.

Fruit blitz to the palate. I pick up a little more apple than the other two with a welcoming tartness. Seems more tart than New Glarus other fruit beers which is pleasant. Mildly sweet which is kept in check by the tartness. All the fruit is complimented by a mild vanilla flavor.

Light bodied and not highly carbonated. Expected it to have a little more pep to the bubbles. Does feel smooth and even.

I would probably takes this over New Glarus more common fruit beers. Hard to believe this was an accident and not a well thought out and planned beer. Sublimely executed nonetheless and all in a low ABV package.

Bottle courtesy of GhostFace, cheers!! Shared at the March 2013 tasting in Santa Cruz. Pours a dazzling ruby amber color with a disappearing white fizz. Explosive cherry aroma with some sharp tartness to it, immediately similar to Jolly Ranchers. Flavor is revelatory, as is the case with most NG fruit beers. An absolute barrage of concentrated fruit madness. Cherries make up the major flavor component, candy-sweet but natural-tasting, with a base of ice cider apple flesh and a perfect cranberry bite on the finish, rounding out the immense sweetness with a divine tartness. This is easily on par with Belgian Red et. al. and arguably better, due to the complexity and synergy thereof. Serendipity indeed.

Bottle from buzze40, 750ml into a tulip.

Crazy ruby tones with an offwhite head. Good retention and lacing. Nose of cranberry and apple pie, some cherry sucker character as well. All three fruits are surprisingly well represented. Sweet malt, but fruits are huge. Taste has all of the fruits well represented, some pie filling, jammy and jolly rancher/lollipop flavours of the fruits in this brew. Medium feel, moderate sweetness and some effervescence. The Carey's hit it out of the park again.

A - Translucent medium ruby colour with half a finger of cream coloured head and good lacing.

S - Tart cherries up front - reminiscent of WBR. Some sweet breadineess and a very light apple aroma in the background.

T - Tart up front with sour cherries that give way to a sweet bready pie-crust-like flavour in the middle. The finish has a touch of apple and tart cranberry. Not specifically getting the oak. After a while this becomes very sweet. Difficult to drink the whole 750 ml bottle but very tasty nonetheless.

M - Medium body. Creamy. Light carbonation.

Bottled the time it was bottled.

Pours a browned pink with a fleeting dusty rose cap. Smells of apples, cherries, oak and some lactic acid. Taste is cranberry well balanced with apples and cherries. The beer leans toward the tart side of things and helps the flavor profiles balance out like a well blended wine. There is a medium on lightly cloying body with moderate carb and a semi dry finish that makes me want the beer ice cold and in gulping portions on a early summer morning. Really a refreshing beer I believe to be an absolutely fantastic deviation from the normal New Glarus beers.

BIG thanks to fvernon for this incredible extra! enjoyed from my new glarus flute.

a - brew poured a transparent yet deep ruby mahogany with a finger of foamy bubbly head that bubbled away. very champagne like carbonation. great streaky lacing. head was a bit pinkish tinted.

s - OH WOW! smells INCREDIBLE! really and truly amazing. my mouth started to water. just cherry fruit juice. rich and flavorful.

t - wow. just incredible. smells a bit better than it tastes, but the taste is a homerun...the smell, that's a grandslam. nice tangy cherry, but not overly so. not kreik like...vedgie beer like.

m - very champagne like. fizzy and prickly.

o - overall, just WOW!!! new glarus really owns the vedgie beer category. if only they would distribute. i'm just amazed by each and every one of these that they churn out.

Poured a lovely, sparkling clear red color with a small but moderately durable red-tan head that left the glass nicely coated when tipped.

Has a very fruity aroma; tart. Appealing yet it didn't prepare me for the magnificent taste. The flavor is loaded with mixed fruit, with both cranberries and cherries evident. Perfect TART/sweet balance. Serendipity indeed.

The medium-light body is quietly lively yet creamy smooth.

O: as good as any fruit beer I've ever had, including the finest Belgian lambics.

Picked up a few of these during my transit back from Darkness day. Gotta love New Glarus's attitude... Failed Cherry crop? No Problem! Poured into a New Glarus flute glass. Appearance is a deep purple red that is strikingly clear. It appears just like Juicy Juice. Minimal head and lacing. The nose is amazing. First thing that comes through is cranberry with a slight tartness. The apples then pick up and provide a bit of rustic character, and then comes the cherry. The three fruits are so harmonious which makes for a candied fruit aroma that suggests a bit of sweet and a bit of tart. The taste is incredible. It starts with the more candied side of the fruits, again with a nice harmony of the three featured fruits. The sweetness gives way to a nice tartness that takes over the palate. Delicious. Mouthfeel is light and bubbly. Overall, New Glarus has struck gold yet again with their fruited beer. This is perhaps the most balanced and delicious one yet. If you haven't sought this one out, do it...now.

A: Clear chestnut brown with a very red hue to it. Forms a moderate sized, bubbly, tannish colored head. Decent retention, as it eventually falls to a fairly thick surface coating. Leaves a good bit of lace on the way down.

S: Aroma is full of fresh, juicy fruits, redolent of Belgian Red. Strong cherry, summer berries, and some apple. The smell is sweet, almost candy-like, but not cloyingly so.

T: Flavor brings more of the same, but with more balance. Sweet apple, cherries and raspberry flavors mix with the slightly tart astringency of the cranberries. Finish is surprisingly quick considering the depth of the flavors present here, but the finish is also very clean.

M: Medium in body with a moderate slickness to it. Undeniably sweet, but the tartness creates a balance that ensures this beer is not cloying. Medium carbonation.

O: What can I say? Yet another excellent fruit beer from Dan and Deb.
