Poured from a 28oz bottle into a sierra nevada tulip glass:

Appearance: The color is like a translucent red apple skin, with some cherry colors, also some burgundy. Perfectly clear, nothing I can say bad about it..

Aroma: wow! simply amazing, a perfect harmony of fall fruits, tart, sweet and fruity maybe a little vinegar like aroma too, but like that of apple cider, not white vinegar, extremely pleasent, i would pay a lot for a candle that smelled this good.

Flavor: Again, wow! Slightly sweet oaky beginning turns into sour, then oaky, then sweet, then oak, then tart. its seriously a roller coaster on the tongue.. truly amazing. Finishes slightly dry with that tartness to make it refreshing. tastes like a fruit juice, sweet apples with some sourness like a granny smith apple, then sweet like cherries (deeply sweet though), then cranberry tartness and dryness.

Mouthfeel: carbonation is high to me, for a beer, but not like a champagne. works perfectly to me, some residual sweetness, that makes the dryness rounded and really well balanced. beautiful.

Overall: ill keep this simple. this beer is amazing. even if you HATE beer, this beer is for you. perfect for a post-thanksgiving treat to just mellow your night. if you see this beer, buy it. one of the best beers i've ever had in my life. great job New Glarus, keep up the fruit beers and keep them your secret because they are truly a work of art.

Tulip glass.

A: Pours garnet with a finger of cream colored head with largish bubbles as the mass recedes. Good retention and solid lacing. Excellent clarity.

S: Like smelling a basket of fruit. Apple juice, red cherry popsicle.

T: Fruit forward, jammy, with mild tartness on the backend. Apple is probably most noticeable followed by cherry and a hint of raspberry. Fruit flavor sticks to the mouth. Mild to moderate sweetness that stays in balance with the tart flavor.

M: Medium-full body, slightly syrupy. Lightly carbed.

O: I like this better than Belgian Red and Raspberry Tart, but which seem overly sweet and one dimensional. It has the aspect of a fruited cider, which is interesting. But the drinkability is still limited by the sweet jammy-ness. This is best had in small doses.

Copper red with good clarity and good general appearance. Aroma is strong on apples and cherries... can't really comment on other aspects. Tastes very tart but the apples sure are noticeable. Cranberries are tart and there's ample dose of cherry at the end. Mouthfeel is medium with full carbonation and the finish is clean but with a lasting tartness. If this is oak aged, then the oak is present only in the tannins, but I am not sure. Overall it's a very good fruit beer but the label hints that it should be an American Wild Ale.

Poured into snifter. Came with a quarter inch head which dissipated quickly. Little lacings around the glass. Beer had a strong fruity aroma, I smelled both cranberries and apples. Very tart. It appeared dark red, kind of like cranberry juice with the exception that it had moderate froth and lacings.

The taste was very tart - like cranberry cocktail juice and yet very sweet. I noted highlights of different fruits as I tasted it - for certain there were cranberries and apples. While it was fruity, it had a nice malty background which is a reminder to me that it's a beer, not juice nor fruity wine. It's a 1 pint and 9 fluid oz. bottle, yet very drinkable and I did not share this (there wasn't anyone to share with anyway). A relaxing beer to enjoy both during the day (it's only 4% ABV) and in the evening hours. Enjoy!
