Brewed March 24, 2009
Bottled August 6, 2010
Brewed in the tradition of the Lambics of Belgium but using a blend of Ale Yeast, Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus, Pediococcus, and Acetobacter. These microorganisms came from our culture collection as well as many collected by Dan around the wilds of Wisconsin! Fermented and aged in Oak. This beer spent the summer of 2009 aging outdoors in used oak barrels, then bottle fermented.

Thank YOU to Don (orbitalr0x)...hooking me up big time here.
First sampled at Great Taste 2010 and now a bottle to consume at home.
Pours a golden color with a thin, bright white head...no lacing. Quite still after this one sits in the snifter for a few minutes.
Aroma is divine with a lot of fruit...pear, strawberry (?), white grapes. Extremely inviting.
Taste is just as enjoyable...ah, who we kidding. Of course tasting the beer is better than just sniffing it! That prickly pear flavor kicks in up front with a delicate tart/sour complement. The sour works its way into the lingering finish and rounds out this world class creation. A small amount of the wood flavor shows up, but very much in the background here.
Mouthfeel is full of carbonation, but it complements the beer here.
Alcohol is non-existant. Despite some of the sour in the finish, it is quite dry and strips the palate clean almost completely after each sip. Love it.

500 ml bottle served in a New Glarus flute. Bottled 8/6/10. Thanks to sweemzander for the share!
A: Pours a clear yellowish color with a white head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring that leaves some splotchy lace.
S: Fruity and sweet with a slightly tart lemony note. Grassy, wet oak and a hint of lemon peel.
T: Lots going on in the taste. Tart apple, lemon spritz, musty basement and grass. Sweet vanilla with some pale malts and a little oak. Sour lemon notes as well.
M: Light bodied with a medium high carbonation. Sour and sweet finish.
O: Really good. Definitely enjoyed this one. Easy drinking with a nice complex taste.

Pours an orangish tigers eye color without much of a head. Nose sour citrus with the new Glarus house yeast smell. Taste starts off with citrus, lemony notes that's hold strong through the middle of the palate. These flavors hold strong through the rest of the beer. The new Glarus yeast / house character also comes through in the back 1/4th of the palate. Mouth is a little watery and thin but good for the style. Overall, I Was hoping for a bit more out of this. I couldn't escape the house character bleeding into this and washing out some of the gueuze. I glad to try it, but would take a Belgian Ted over this.

Bottle: Poured a clear light amber color beer with a large foamy head with average retention and not much lacing. Aroma consists of light funky notes with some tart notes and light oak notes also noticeable. Taste is a good mix between some funky ester with some oak and tart notes that are all well balanced between each others. Body is about average with good carbonation. Well balanced and easily drinkable

Half inch white head on a dark golden/light amber body. Leaves a collar of the most part, then vanishes.
Slight tartness on the nose, hint of sweetness as well!
The sweetness that I detected in the aroma didn't translate in the taste, all sour here. "granny smith apples". Well hidden alcohol, hardly noticeable.
Light and crisp mouthfeel. Good carbonation.
Yum yum here. Aged 2 years and now finally enjoying the first two limited quantity R&D beers, worth the wait. Holds up well to some of the more sour-eccentric breweries' (Russian River, Cascade) beers.

Brendan, thanks!
Looks like apple juice: minimal head that disappears quickly, zero lace after 2-3min. Smells sweet and (again) like apple juice. Honestly can't smell much of anything.
Taste is much improved. Reminiscent of a good Belgian gueuze with hints of NG-esque Wisconsin sugars. Tart, crisp, tasty. Finishes slightly watery and totally refreshing.
I enjoyed this *much* more than the Kriek.
