Appearance: Cloudy with a dark yellow tint. Substantial head and lacing.
Smell: Standard hefeweizen smells, but hops are also present.
Taste: This is a hoppy hefeweizen, if that can be believed! However, the hops here are not so much the biting kind, but rather add a neat twist to the flavor profile. The hops fortify the strong yeatiness to create a taste sensation!
Mouthfeel: Thinner than many hefes, but this doesn't detract much, seeing as this is a more than a traditonal hefe. Manages to be almost creamy, despite the light body.
Drinkability: Great beer to have several of, if you're craving wheat OR hops. More of a year-round beer than many hefes, not as summery as some wheat beers.
Notes: I love New Glarus' amalgamation of a hefeweizen and an APA! The best characteristics of both style complement each other well. One might guess an attempt at combining these two styles would end being weird, but New Glarus has accomplished the feat with grace.

Attractive yellow buzz and glow, plenty of wheat particles floating around, over an inch of head. Aroma dropped tons of hops, citrus in nature, domestic.
Taste was a complex array of pepper, wheat, perhaps an American and Belgian or German yeast style contributing both pepper and banana flavors. Lots of citrus from the hops. Malt toasting still brings an earthy wheat component to it. One of the more unique and awesome hefeweizens, totally high hopped for style, definitely an American take on it
