Notes:
Treat yourself to a rare delight. The voluminous raspberry bouquet will greet you long before your lips touch your glass. Serve this Wisconsin framboise very cold in a champagne flute. Then hold your glass to a light and enjoy the jewel-like sparkle of a very special ale.
Oregon proudly shares their harvest of mouth watering berries, which we ferment spontaneously in large oak vats. Then we employ Wisconsin farmed wheat and year old Hallertau hops to round out this extravaganza of flavor.

Thanks to cradke for the bottle. Split with the girlfriend. From notes.
A- Pours ruby red with a thin white head that leaves minimal lacing.
S- Fresh raspberry purée with plenty of sweet and tart notes. Almost jam like with hints of red grape.
T- Again sweetness upfront with raspberry pure wit a touch of sugar then with some tartness at the end. Simple but very delicious.
M- Medium carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel that finishes tart and slightly dry.
O- Really impressed with this beer. Not overly sweet and really highlights the sweetness and tartness of raspberries. This would go perfect with some raspberry cheesecake.

#BOTG 57!
Waxed bottle, 750ml. I have been looking forward to trying this one for awhile. The wax comes off easy, and after popping the cap, a really nice waft of fresh raspberries (very natural, no syrupy/chemical/artificial flavors detected) hits my nose. Pours from bottle into my JK Farmhouse glass. Wrong glass for this, but I have nothing else. This is a crystal clear raspberry red color, very little head, but tight carbonation bubbles come up from the bottom of the glass. Smells great, looks great. Taste- What I love about this is that the sweetness and the fruit flavor all is very natural. It has some nice sugary sweetness, but it seems more like real fruit sweetness than some sort of artificial flavoring. As expected, there is a nice puckering tartness to this on the end, and a dry finish with tight carbonation. Really nice beer, will seek this out again.

750 mL bottle into flute glass
A - Clear garnet in color with a half finger of off-white head that dissipates into a thin lace.
S - Mashed up raspberries. It is one of the most inviting aromas I've ever experienced. Not much else to it, though.
T - Tastes of raspberries, sweet and tart. Just a perfect, pure display of real raspberry flavors, made a bit tart/sour by the fermentation process. Truly a special treat and something that would be perfect with dessert.
M - Medium to light body, a bit cloying and finishing dry. Nice carbonation, the bubbles tickle the tongue slightly.
O - Overall this beer cannot be missed. A delicious fruit beer unlike any other I have had. A great way to show non-beer drinkers what some of the lesser know beer styles have to offer, and a beer I will endeavor to have on hand every time I have guests so I can share with them this wonderful drink.

Poured into an oversized wine glass. Consumed on a nice, hot, and sunny Memorial day.
Poured a nice deep red color with a white/red tinged 3 finger head.
Wow, amazing smell. Not much to describe here because the smell is entirely overpowered by raspberries - fresh, delicious, sweet, and tart raspberries.
Taste is amazing. Definetely reminds me a bit of a lighter red wine, though the taste, much like the smell, is almost entirely raspberry. Great tartness on the end. Very refreshing.
Mouthfeel is perfect and refreshing.
Overall - wow. Amazing beer. I have never had a fruit beer that tasted so fresh and "real." This is an amazing beer, one that I hope to come across again. Absolutely loved it.

Received a bottle of this in a trade. Poured into a Duvel tulip.
A - Pours a crystal clear deep, dark ruby red wine colour brew with a nice two finger slightly pink fizzy head that faded rather quickly to leave a thinnish halo and a thin light cloud.
S - Aromas, holy cow. Yeah this is raspberry. Raspberry juice, fresh berries in the summer sun, nice preserves, somewhat sweet. Reminds me incredibly of the local orchard that makes fruit wine...this smells exactly like a raspberry wine.
T - So this is a true raspberry beer eh? A bit more heavy on the raspberry preserves side as opposed to fresh berries when it comes to the flavour. There's no mistaking it though...this is a pure raspberry goodness. No other flavours, just berry. Guess I would like more fresh raspberry with this? This is so damn close to a raspberry wine.
M - The mouthfeel is nice, a bit lower carbonated for my liking. The low alcohol of course doesnt come through. Drinks like a slightly carbonated wine.
O - Overall...yeah, this shit is the real deal. I love a good fruit beer and this fills the void for me. That smell is crazy, as is the flavour. Cant think of anything more raspberry. Wish the mouthfeel and head/retention was better but the aroma and flavours more than make up for them!

Pours a deep amber that looks like fruit juice. A fruit beer through and through. Smells like raspberries, looks like raspberries, and tastes like raspberries. A little tartness, but more sweet than tart.
Could use more tartness, but not bad. If you want an unsweetened lambic this beer is not for you. Pleasant dessert beer.

A: Pours brownish red, minimal fast-fading head, lots of active bubbles in the liquid.
S: Strong raspberry aroma, jam-like and somewhat artificial. Pretty one-note, but I suppose that what they were aiming for.
T: Juice. Sparkling juice. Did the yeast attenuate this at all? Tastes like sweet wine or cider. No beer-like aspects to my tongue. Finishes with a distinct zing.
M: High carbonation. Lots of residual sweetness. Sticky finish.
O: As this warms up, it just gets more oppressively sweet to the point that my stomach is starting to get a bit upset. Perhaps if you frequently drink juice and soda and want a beer that's as sweet as them, this is an appealing beverage, but it's not at all for me.

750mL bottle poured into a champagne flute as instructed by the label
No born on date or other distinguishing numbers
Big thanks to haveanother1 for sending this one over in a trade.
A: Pours a dark amber with some ruby hues and great clarity. 1.5 fingers width of light beige colored head dissipates down at a moderate rate to leave only an outer ring. A few sparse carbonation bubbles can be seen rising to the top of the glass. Leaves only a trace amount of spotty lacing, but still a pretty beer.
S: Tons of huge fresh raspberry aromas, and you don't even need to put your nose near the glass. They smack you in the face as soon as you open the bottle. Maybe a hint of sugary sweet raspberry jam, but mostly just fresh tart raspberries. Does it smell like a beer? Well not any one I've ever smelled, but it smells like a dream. Awesome.
T: Like the nose, the taste is all about raspberries. Tastes sweeter than the smell, more of the jelly/jam flavors as opposed to fresh raspberries. There is a good degree on tartness on the tongue as well. A good mix of sweetness upfront followed by tartness on the back end, a balance that prevents a rather one dimensional palate profile from becoming cloying. I really don't pick up much of anything else except the raspberry, but I think that's the goal.
M/D: Heavily carbonated, fuller bodied than I anticipated. Slightly more syrupy that I would like, but a nice drying finish. Drinkability is pretty good, but I'd say this one is meant to be shared, as a full bomber was a bit much.
O: Overall, I really can't imagine a better raspberry beer. My personal presence would be a touch more sour, but I really think they accomplished there goal here. And the smell, oh the heavenly smell! I could see this as the perfect substitute for champagne for a Sunday brunch. Very well done!

750ml. There is no dating information, but this was purchased for me in WI in early April. Poured this into a stemmed white wine glass.
A: Pours a really pretty pink color. About a finger of bright white head. Nicely carbonated. Effervescent like a champagne.
S: Smells like an extremely natural raspberry fruit juice. A little white grape as well. There is some MILD malt notes hidden behind it that lead to some grassy notes, but mostly its all delicious fruit.
T: Epic natural raspberry flavor. Completely natural fruit, not fake BS. Nicely tart and refreshing on the tip of the tongue. You get a little white grape hints. Nice dry finish. Wine/champagne like. This was a winner even with the non-beer drinkers at the gathering.
M: Light to medium bodied.
O: I like this much more than the Wisconsin Belgian Red but that is probably because I like raspberries more!

Poured from 750 to brandy snifter...
Amber gold body... clear as a bell. A finger of slightly off-white carbonation laces extremely well around room temperature.
Thick raspberry flesh, mild honey notes, a vague tartness tied to something sweeter... fruity and light, like raspberry pancake syrup. The massive fruit presence isn't overwhelming sweet whatsoever, just spot on I think.
Raspberries. Tons and tons of raspberries. This is just raspberries in a bottle. The sweetness though is lovingly toned down to achieve a beautiful sense of balance that won't keep you from drinking an entire bottle.
Drinkability is rather high, given the aggression of the raspberry bite. It remains light and sweet, without moving into the dessert category.
Yum.

Poured from 750 bottle into snifter glasses.
A: Dark red, but clear. Small-medium head.
S: Smells more like a fruit juice than the usual raspberry jam-like sensation that framboises have. No strong funk, either.
T: The taste does have some of that jammy raspberry flavor, though. It's sweet, for the style, actually. However, the raspberry flavor is more fresh than with most raspberry beers I've tried (so, it's just the sweetness that's giving it the jam-like flavor).
M: Medium body. Low-medium carbonation.
O: One of the more unique raspberry beers, but I wish it was a lot more sour.

A: Luxuruous ruby color. Clear. Reminds me of cognac. One inch white fluffy head.
S: Raspberry jam. Not much else.
T: Raspberry jam. Has the same syrupy sweetness. Kind of biting acidity in the aftertaste, almost painful in the throat.
M: Has some body from residual sugars.
O: I was expecting for something better, honestly. This is too one-dimensional. The wonderful natural complexity of raspberries is just not here. This is a simple jammy fruit beer. Thank god it's at least the sweetness is restrained.

Finally got one! Thanks smurfbeer!
1 pt 9 fl oz bottle poured into a stemmed tulip. No bottle date to be found.
A: Hazy red body with a slightly pink thin head that dissipates to a thin ring around the edge. Fizzy bubbles. Leaves legs as you swirl it around the glass.
S: Sweet raspberries (duh), some phenolic notes and Belgian yeast.
T: Sweet, but not sickly sweet. Crisp and tart. You can really taste fresh raspberries. Thankfully, not much of the phenols that I got in the nose.
M: Medium carb..softer than I expected. Just enough to tickle the tongue. This is balanced enough that you can actually drink a decent amount without it getting gross.
O: I think the lack of phenols and syrupy sweetness is what distances this from the lower quality framboise that I’ve had. An excellent treat.

Bottle - obtained through a trade.
Poured into Russian River Tulip
A: Half a finger head, Pretty decent amount of lacing, transparent dark ruby color (purplish, reddish, brown).
S: Raspberry and Raspberry Jam! It smells quite good.
T: Man.... amazing. Crisp, tart, sweet (but not too sweet), starts of sweeter then finishes with sweet tartness.
M: Just the right amount of carbonation, light body, near perfect!
O: I am going to be seeking for more of this and looking forward to trying the Belgian Red soon.

From notes - fruit beer tasting on 4/7/2012.
Ruby red, just enough carbonation for a light lacing. Lacing fades quickly, looks almost uncarbonated. A gemstone in a glass.
Pure raspberries on the nose!
Again, raspberries. A very slight amount of bitterness, but no hop taste. Not too sweet, and not syrupy at all. Really nothing else to say - it’s a fantastic raspberry beer.
Much more carbonated than it looks, bubbly like champagne. Very light and refreshing.
An excellent light raspberry brew. Received in a trade with Willspeh - I will be asking for more, buddy.

Poured into a tulip glass from a 22oz bottle.
Pours a rich amber color with some darker ruby hints. There is a nice 1 inch head with some nice dense bubbles and some more medium sized bubbles at the top.
Nose starts off with delicious fresh raspberry notes and some nice raspberry jam notes. There is some nice tartness that does not seem yeast induced and more from the berries. Nice and sweet.
Taste starts off with sweetness. Nice raspberry jam notes and some good juicy sweetness. Then there is some nice slight tartness similar to a lambic. There is a slight Belgian yeast note in there but this is purely a raspberry driven beer. Very nice. Crisp and clean with great refreshing notes. I love these beers in the summer. Very delicious and light.
Great offering from NG. Both this and their Red are delicious takes on fruit beers.

Trade score! Poured into a tulip. Excited as this is the first New Glarus that I am having to opportunity to try.
A-Pours a ruby red. White head that dissipates fairly quickly. Great color. Awesome to look at
S- Raspberrys. Soured raspberry. Not like a framboise though. It is very fruity. Usually this type of smell would drive me away from a beer like this, but it has me rather intrigued.
T- The raspberry's are obviously at the forefront, but they aren't overly sweet. The first sip kind of pushed me away, but the second has me coming back, and then again, and again, and I can't stop!
M-A dry tartness, hence the name, but I honestly was surprised. I expected much more sweetness from the name, sourness from the smell. It isn't overly sweet and definitely not sour.
O-I think this is an excellent fruit beer. Not my first choice of style, but this is excellent. I am glad I have had the opportunity to try it. If this was available all the time to me I don't think I would drink it as much. And for the first time I am glad that I have a botte for myself. I will seek this out again and next time share it with friends. And yes I now want to find more New Glarus.

A bit of a gusher, poured from the bottle into a Tired Hands stem/wine glass, light brown color mixed with strawberry red, clear, and a large, foamy pink-white head; decent retention, soapy lacing, bubbles came back to life after a gentle swirling. Nose is bittersweet, bready caramel infused with fresh raspberries. Taste is similar, tart raspberries up front (oh, I get it now!), good balance of sweetness. Not straight up juice like a Lindemanns Framboise; there's a good bready malt base in there to remind you this is a beer, a touch of bubblegum, and a leafy finish. Chewy mouthfeel, medium body, medium to low carbonation, with a few little bubbly streams visible rising from the bottom. A very enjoyable beer overall.

Been wanting to try this one for a long time. It didn't rest in my fridge long before I found an excuse to pop it open. It just so happened to be nice outside, and this seemed like a good "chilling on the balcony" beer.
A: Thick, deep, clear, ruby red pour with more than a few fingers of off-white head. The retention is really great as a quick shake of the liquids stirs up about a finger or so. The only detracting factor is the lack of lacing, but the color of the beer makes up for it. Bubbles race to the top of my Lost Abbey glass like their lives depend on it.
S: Tart raspberries (see what I did there?) really are the only thing that I can definitely say I smell. Hints of vinegar? Maybe. A little funk? Perhaps. Overall very sweet and fruity.
T: This beer tastes out of this world good. Definitely getting some hints of sour and funk, but really it's all about the tart and sweet raspberries. There isn't anything else, and doesn't need to be. New Glarus nailed this.
MF: The beer has a thick, syrupy body that still boasts a nice amount of carbonation. At 4% ABV, you might be able to drink this for a week straight and still feel fine. Perfect drinkability, great aftertaste, nice feel on the palate.
O: If you were looking for a beer for wine lovers to convert with, give them Raspberry Tart. If you want a great tasting beer with a low ABV, you can't go wrong here. If you want to treat yourself to a beer you won't soon forget, look no further. We have a winner.

Thankyou again to BDEE for this one.
Poured into my lindemans stange. Left a generous two finger eggshell colored heading, tremendous lacing left behind until the last drop not thick but nice and bubbly. Clear and mahogany in color with a rubish tint to it.
Smell amazingly enough is raspberries , raspberries and more raspberries. Excellent tartness with just an extremely fresh fruit aroma.
Taste reminds of pureed raspberry slush. Tartness fits right in after the initial raspberry blast along with a slight touch of sugary alcohol. Very subtle soft grains in the finish.
Mouth is medium bodied, tremendous bubbley, fizzy action on the tongue.
This sets the bar as to what a fruit and, or raspberry beer should taste like. My first beer from New Glarus and I am very impressed.

750ml bottle poured into a tulip. Huge thanks to storminspank for this one.
A: Nice dark ruby red, with good clarity. One and a half finger slightly pink head with decent retention and lacing.
S: Slightly funky sour raspberries. Touches of sweetness.
T: Sweet raspberries upfront that moves to tart and then sour in the middle. Sweetness comes back in the finish, with a buttery flavor that is not unpleasant at all.
M: Light body. Medium carbonation. Crisp. Buttery slick.
O: A very delicious beer. Sweet, tart, funk, and sour blend nicely.

Poured a glorious ruby red with a 1 finger tan head that goes quickly.
Smell is great, it is exactly what you would think it would be, Rasberry, sourness, sweetness.
Taste is unreal tons of rasberry, a good sourness or tartness I guess. That is about it not in a bad way the flavors are so big that is all you need!
Mouthfeel is sharp at first but becomes really sticky at the end.
Well I have had this before but being in WI you just never think about reviewing it because it is always around. It is always around because it is awesome. We here in WI are really blessed to access to the best fruit beers on the planet and they are avaliable all the time!

A - Pours a opaque ruby with a touch of brown in it and a thin finger of pinkish bubbly head. The head fades down fairly quickly leaving behind a little head.
S - Aroma is full of lots of fresh sweet raspberries. There is a bit of tartness with a bit of sweet caramel as well.
T - Starts off with lots of sweet and tart raspberry flavor with a bit of sourness and a bit of other berries. Through the middle, a touch of caramel comes through with some more fresh fruit flavor. The finish is a mix of tart and lightly sour fresh raspberry with a hint of yeast.
M - Medium bodied with fairly mild carbonation. Very smooth with a tart and dry finish.
D - Very drinkable. The raspberry flavor is very fresh and rich and works so well in the beer. The strong tartness is excellent as well.

Bottle poured into Boulevard tulip glasses. Pours a very dark burnt orange with an off white head of about half an inch. The smell is sour, sweet, with a nose of dark fruit. The taste is crazy good. The raspberries shine through tremendously. Slightly sour with sweetness that pulls through at the end. The finish is strong but short. The mouthfeel is perfect with the right amount of effervescence and viscousness. Overall this is virtually a perfect beer of this type and I will for sure be searching this out again without question.
