750ml bottle split with russwbeck and poured into a Sam Adam's Infinium flute. Bottle provided by UMNbeehunter, thanks Joe!

A - Pours a deep ruby color, crystal clear with multiple, steady carbonation streams. Only about a finger's worth of head with poor retention. Almost no lacing with this beer; when it's gone it's gone! However, not really expecting that with this kind of beer. All-in-all, a pretty nice looking appearance.

S - Smell is of tart, black cherries. The depth of the cherry aroma is almost absurd, you can get every aspect here from the stem and skin, to the juicy, slightly sour inside, to the gritty, earth pits. Given that this beer is a one-track to cherry heaven, it's nice to see the main attraction come with such layer and complexity. Balanced nicely by malts and sweetness.

T - Make no mistake, this beer is very cherry forward, but after the initial cherry rush, there is a nice balance to be had. Sweet and sour up-front as the tart cherries make themselves at home in the corner of your cheeks. Again, every part of the cherry is represented here; skins, pits, stems, the whole thing. The malts really do a great job of contrasting with the slight sourness. Finish is long and tart.

M - Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Leaves a nice, thick coating in the mouth with a long finish.

D - Drinkability is high. New Glarus isn't far off by describing this as the marriage between beer and wine (and maybe fruit juice). Incredibly easy to drink without having the cherries dominate. Would be a nice beer to have on special occasions but probably not something I'd seek out for everyday drinking.
