A - Poured out a clear, light copper color with a one-finger, khaki colored head of foam. It left thin sticky rings of lace on the glass.
S - It smelled like scotch. It really did.
T - Tasted like scotch with some alcohol burn. Good scotch ale flavors, too - peaty, earthy and toasty. Sweet with just enough spice.
M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium to full bodied ale with a dry finish.
O - This is a really tasty scotch ale. Schlafly scores again.

Minimal head on a cloudy burnt orange with a golden hue when held up to the light. Aroma is as advertised with excellent scotch malt presence which warms the nostrils with additional notes of candied fruits, oak and excellent caramel note. Flavors are actually much more subdued than the aroma would foreshadow. Although the somewhat sharp, scotch notes are evident, there is a balance if sweetness with mostly yellow apple, caramel, oak, resins and bready malts. A bit watery with a semi dry finish and light carbonation. The alcohol is strong here but you actually get used to it quickly and it's not overbearing. This is definitely worth trying for its uniqueness but I would split the bottle with someone.

A - Pours with one finger of white foam on top of a hazy, dark golden body. The. Had settles quickly and leaves no lace.
S - Sweet malt, with some barrel notes of oak, spice, and a touch of smoke.
T - Lots of sweet malt up front with sweet fruity apple notes. Rum like spice in the middle and a finish of sweet malt clove, and a bit of vanilla.
M - A thick, sticky sweet body, and fairly low carbonation.
D - Not bad, the aroma is far better than the flavor. The excessive sweetness hurts not only the drink ability but also dulls the flavor.

A: Poured a clear and golden-bronzish straw color with a nice whispy white cap, a little bit of dirtiness to it with some good head retention at first but then fades leaving a small ring around the glass and minimal bubbles
S: Spot on. Caramel, peat, some molasses and light booze sting coupld with some old barrel influences
T: Upfront I get some moderate heat with peat, like Laphroig and Lagavulin peatiness which is balanced with a caramel sweetness, perhaps some syup, a good amount of sweetness. There is an old wooden barrel presence on this beer throughout. The finish has a rather sweet, dry but drawn out peat, booziness to it
M: Medium bodied, a bit thin I felt for a Wee Heavy. Carbonation was good to go and the mouthfeel was full of peaty Scotch flavor for sure.
O: Well done. A must try for anyone with a palate for good Scotch

Well, this one is interesting.
Appearance is slightly cloudly, with a lighter than amber hue. Vigourous pour brings a solid inch head that trails off to a moderate froth shy of a 1/2 inch.
The nose comes pff with a smokey dominance, followed by a hint of peat.
Flavor is more peat than smoke, slightly breadt sweet. A bit like a single malt scotch, but usually I like a peat in my scottish ales. Somehow this one comes in and out of the "I think I like it" zone. It's a bit perplexing. It has the flavor of scotch, yey it's very lite on the heat.
Mouthfeel is lite & thin.
Finish has me a bit confused. Not bad, but, well...I'm still thinking.

Beer aged in barrels is all the rage; single malt barrels this time.
Opened this and poured it into a wide top glass. Not a great amount of head but good lacing. Kind of a cloudy orange.
Nose is well....scotch. Throw in some candied fruit to boot.
Taste is like drinking scotch too and I do say intense scotch taste. There is some apricot and malts with some spiciness too like anise.
Mouth feel is somewhat carbonated, but I found this beer to not be very heavy bodied almost watery. Somehow it is intense flavored. The booze is all over the place too.
I like this but I think it could be more balanced with more depth of flavor.

(Served in a globe glass)
A- This beer pours the color of a dried orange peel with a sea of microbubbles supporting a bubbly rocky head of beige that last a good bit.
S- The dry caramel malt has a nice peaty earthy aroma to it with gentle smokiness to the finish. There is a nice buttery diacetyl hint that comes through as it opens.
T- This beer has a leathery peat flavor that is gentle and very pleasant blending with a rich malty flavor that has some nice dry toffee notes and a dry smoke quality to it.
M- The medium mouthfeel has a gentle alcohol heat that compliments the malty flavor and a gentle fizz that cleans up the finish.
O- This is the best taste of peat in a beer I have had. It is mellow and rich and really compliments the malt as does the faint smoky hints that really capture what smoke should be and no trace of band-aids. Well built beer and very tasty.

The beer pours out a dark honey color with ecru colored head. The head sticks to the sides of the glass leaving a nice web of lacing. This smells like a wonderful scotch whiskey. The character of the barrelsreallycomes through with a wonderful wood scent.
At first sipim waiting for that usual whiskey burn, but it isn't there. It tastes very much like whiskey, thou slightly subdued. There at notes of iodine, grass, and peat smoke. It is a heady and enjoyable experience. The carbonation is subtle, yet the mouthfeel is firm and medium bodied. A very slight hop tang on the finish. A unique and enjoyable brew.

750 Ml poured into a snifter
This beer poures s surprisingly light color. It is a burnt orange and very hazy. The nose of this beer is somewhat smokey, A bit like a barley wine and has an impressive whiskey presence. The taste of this beer is surprising to say the least. A big bourbon presence at first. Followed by a ton of smokey flavors. The beer really smells like sausage or bacon and roasted BBQ. There is also peat flavors and sour mash from the barrels. There is a good alcohol presence in this one, a tad hot. A bit of coffee, toffee and caramel which is drowned by the smokey nature but there in spirit. This beer is not easy to drink, it is smokey, sweet and slightly boozy and its probably best I split my bottle in 3rds. Overall, it's pretty good. It is very smokey and woodey and different but it did keep my interest.
