Pours golden with 4 fingers of pearl colored head. Above average head retention & lacing

S: Grassy, somewhat piney, grapefruitty notes

T: Follows the nose, some bready nose, grapefruit, some woody hop notes. More grapefruit as this warms, woody hop notes, nice bready notes. Finishes crisp & grapefruitty with nice pineyness

MF; Medium bodied, crisp carbonation, great balance

Great IPA, hope this become a regular, would drink as long as it's fresh

12 oz bottle poured into my Ommegang tulip.

A - nice dense couple fingers of white head, leaving a lot of lacing. body, however, looks like a slightly darker american adjunct lager. really really clear (i guess this isn't a fault), and very pale. meh.

S - mango and papaya. woah. some grassy hoppiness too, but seriously, papaya. this is crazy.

T - really good. kind of flowery, with some definite rough grain edges, but lots of tropical fruit too.

M - a little thin, honestly. super drinkable, and hides the 7.2% well. drinks more like a summer beer than a fall beer.

O - really nice single hop IPA. i absolutely love Galaxy, so it's no surprise i like this beer, but they did great things with it.

A - Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a one-finger, white head of bubbly foam. It left thin rings of lace on the glass.

S - It smelled of citrus, orange and grapefruit. There was a hint of bubblegum with some toasted caramel maltiness.

T - Big bitter bite up front with grapefruit, mango and orange flavors. It had a sweet caramel flavor with a touch of toastiness.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium bodied ale with a dry, clean finish.

O - This is another fantastic IPA from Schlafly. I'll be picking up more before this disappears from the shelves.

Poured from the bottle a very clear and bright yellow with two fingers of bright white head. Left behind lots of sticky lacing.

Big aroma of grassy hops with this one along with an abundance of earthyness.

Like the aroma, this really pushes the hops level. A big bite of grass and pine and a bite of lemon. Finishes clean with just a slight medicinal note.

Medium bodied and sticky with a moderate carbonation.

This one is so good! Hoppy and well balanced.

12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass.

A - Beautifully clear yellowish-orange with one-finger head. Beer left significant lacing. A really beautiful pour and very clear for an IPA.

S - Holy citrus batman! The heavy citrus notes kick in immediately, with some grapefruit up front. A bit piney on the finish.

T - Very bitter and typical of an overly hopped up IPA. Almost a DIPA in my opinion.

M - A bit grainy and very full / thick on the palate. Leaves the mouth a little dry and craving some more.

Overall - very great beer. Another solid effort from Otto and my friends over at Schlafly. I will be buying more of this as long as it sticks around.

A - pours a clear yellow color with a nice head that leaves a nice lacing down the glass

S - nose is juicy, dank and earthy hops with a little bit of spiciness

T - taste starts off with sweet syrupy citrus flavors that are replaced by some of the caramel malt backbone. However, the Tasmanian hop comes back with a juicy grapefruit flavor that wasn't detectable in the nose. These yield slightly to a little bit of earthy spiciness, but some grapefruit bitterness helps round it off.

M - a little watery, but it works well with this beer

D - overall, this is a solid single hop IPA. I really like this hop...it reminds me of Citra, but more spicy and not as juicy. Recommended while it's on the shelf.

A single-hop IPA brewed with Galaxy hops. Poured from a bottle into a New Belgium snifter. The beer pours out a slightly hazy yellow-gold color with a fine white frothy head of about 2 fingers. If it was clearer, it would look like a pilsner. There is definitely citrus fruit on the nose. I get notes of lemon, pineapple, and a grassy, grainy note as well.

The beer has a light body and crisp, hop-forward flavor. There is little to no malt backbone here.. Bitter fruity flavors of lemon and grapefruit dominate the palate and carry through the finish, which is dry and rather well-sustained. The lack of sweetness and hoppy aggressiveness lends the beer a flowery dryness and a subtle grainy character. I don't mean this as a criticism, but it drinks more like a hopped-up American wheat beer than an American IPA.

Overall, a nice American IPA. Very tasty, citrusy, and hop-forward, but rather unbalanced and lacking in body. Nevertheless, I'm glad I bought a few bottles of this and will enjoy drinking it again. I think Schlafly should strongly consider making this a summer seasonal instead of a fall seasonal. The body and flavor profile of this beer would go great with the hot summer days.

Bottle dated 10/8/12.

This one pours a beautiful tangerine orange in color with a one finger, bright white and soapy head. The nose is very bright and fresh. It's both lightly floral and citrusy. The flavors too have a nice level of citrusy hop character as well as subtle grassiness. It is incredibly drinkable. It drinks light in body and is pretty refreshing. Tis is right on par with their American IPA. I've found this series to be extremely sessionable and this one followed suit. I could drink this all day.

Clean and golden upon pouring, with a full head of white bubbles. Heavy-duty, finely-detailed lace, too. Very nice.

Nose is sharp and tangy, with ripened grapefruit all the way. Thirst quenching and delightful!

Taste is similarly citrus-oriented, with a well-pronounced hops profile and a light, citrus-grapefruit vibe. The malt profile here works well, complimenting the hoppy tang.

A delicious IPA, and one I wish were more widely available. High marks, here.

WOW!!! Boy now I wish I had gotten more than a case of this gem... Hazy bright gold color, citrusy almost floral nose, a great summer refresher, and its only the middle of May... Great pairing with my BBQ a great counterpoint to the spicy/smokiness of the pulled pork... This one is a drinker, get it while you can... and send a couple my way...

Multiple 12oz bottles, bottle date 10/08/12, poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint

where do we start, i first had this years batch of awesomeness on tap at Country Boy Brewing for the Schlafly Event that also had the Black IPA(which was stellar too). The look of this beer is nice golden color, quite a few shades lighter than your standard IPA but in this SMaSH style beer it works perfectly for later on when you have a sip. The golden beer is topped off with a nice two finger high thick froth of head. After seeing such a clear beer, you tend to lean in for a smell and boy what a beautiful aroma from the wonderful Australian hop known as Galaxy. This beer emits aromas of grapefruit, citrus and some wild flower. The similarities it shares with a hop like Citra are as evident as the differences. The tastes that accompany the aromas are very similar except for a bit of the sweet from the 2 row malt. The bite from the hops is a very smooth bite with no rough edges. There is an apricot to almost grapefruit flavor left after the final sip that is all Galaxy, highlighting again why this beer is so good. The simplicity of it all worked better than most would have expected. The mouthfeel is spot on, not too much carbonation to increase the bitter but definitely enough to hold to style. The medium body is perfect for this as to not draw anything away from the hops. Overall, this beer is great and available and affordable. This is not a super rare beer or over hyped but it can stand up to a lot of overhyped IPA's out there. Thanks Schlafly for a great follow up to American IPA this year.

Bottled 10/17/2012, 9 days old!

A: One of the lightest colors I've seen in an IPA. Gold, with generous head. Making me thirsty just looking at it.

S: Freshly cut mango, hops. Oh baby.

T: Excellent balance of citrus, hops and bready malt. So glad I got this fresh. Tastes amazing.

M: Good carbonation, medium bodied. Alcohol is well hidden for 7.2%.

O: This might be the best beer I've had from Schlafly to date, and I've had a lot of them. I think I prefer this one over their AIPA.

Clear, lemon-straw colored beer. Massive, bubbly head recedes to a swirling film that forms patchy lines of lace.

Sweet fruit aroma with mango and menthol leaves.

Smooth, buttery, white bread malt flavor. Assertive hop character with mango, mint and grapefruit flavors. Honey sweetness compliments the citric hop notes. Exceptional balance and alcohol is completely masked.

Medium bodied. Wet texture mid-drink and slightly drying in the finish. Well carbonated.

Great ipa. Love the citrus flavors and balance.

12oz bottle poured into a Schlafly snifter.

Appearance: This beer pours a mostly clear brightly light golden orange. About one finger sized of white frothy head. Retention holds up nicely. Nice lacing lines throughout the glass.

Aroma: The galaxy hops are bright and citrusy. Tropical fruits like pineapple and mangoes and grapefruit come to mind. Hints of some piney dankness linger in the background.

Taste: Bright fresh juicy citrus and tropical fruit flavors dominate. Apicots, pineapple, grapefruit, mangoes. At 60 IBU's it's not an overpowering or overly bitter flavor but there's not much here as far as malts go. Perhaps just a little for some balance. Finishes dry.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Carbonation is a little high and prickly but I don't have any complaints. The finish is very dry with some moderate bitterness.and wants to keep bringing you back for more.

Schlafly ups their game in the highly competitive IPA market by celebrating the newly available Galaxy hops. With its simplified grain bill, the beer showcases this tropical and citrus-forward hop in all its glory.

Tasmanian IPA opens with a brightly lit orange-amber glow. An even hop haze diffuses the light and gives the beer a very inviting color. Capped with a frothy eggshell white head, the beer retains and laces as steadily as could be expected. This is one handsome looking beer!

Juicy aromas of citrus fruit, coupled with tropical fruits evoke a mouthwatering reation. Full of vibrancy, the supporting malts give a sweeter caramel scent to accompany the impressions of fructose and pleasant acidities.

As the beer starts malty and semi-sweet to taste, the light caramel and honey flavors draw in the hops. Red grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed tangerine, passion fruit, pineapple, mangoes, and apricots are just a few of the hop-induced flavors to be found from these sultry Galaxy hops. Malt sweetness keeps the fruit flavors seeming juicy, vibrant, and sweetly ripened. The balance of the beer tilts heavy toward the hops as the dialogue of malt to hops remain the focus, and without any distraction from outside.

Medium bodied to start, the early carbonated, malty creaminess develops into a dry-malt mid palate before turning moderately resinous and cleanly bitter to finish. Its dry character further keeps the emphasis on hop dominance- just as it should be.

The simplicity of this beer is also its charm. The thin caramel taste of 2-row malt and the stand-up complexities of Galaxy hops carry this beer from sip to finish with ease and boldness. Where brewers are tempted to over engineer the recipe or take shortcuts in technique, its refreshing to see that simplicity and confidence are still fashionable. Thanks Schlafly!

Poured this into a standard pint glass and the brew makes a good two finger thick bright white head, with a cleanly filtered body that is a golden white color. Looks kind of like a Kristalweizen.

The aroma is very citrus in the way of lemonade... Almost smells like a Shandy. There is some pine, but almost smells like Sprite altogether with odd soapy fragrances.

Taste wise it's grainy huskiness with some lemon, and a hint of caramel.

Oddly feels medium in body, which makes this 7.2% a sleeper and can creep on you very stealthily.

Been looking forward to this for a while now and picked up my first sixer today. Bottled on 10-8-2012, so less than two weeks old. Poured into a Duvel tulip and got a very light yellow body. Probably the lightest colored IPA I've ever had. A one-finger white head that dissipates fairly quickly, leaving only spotty lacing.

Nice hop aroma, mostly citrus, but a little bit of floral and herbal notes as well. The herbal notes are earthy, and are backed up by a bit of sweet malt aroma.

The flavor follows the aroma and the hop notes pack a solid punch. Again, I don't recall ever having one with all Australian hops and the flavor is distinct.

Medium texture to the mouthfeel and a bit of oily hop texture as well. Big fan of Schlafly and this one does not disappoint - it's rock solid. Very drinkable with excellent hoppiness. Very happy to see a year-round IPA rotation coming out of Schlafly.

Holy carp this is the PALEST IPA I have ever seen! Fluffy white head, three fingers deep sitting on top of a crystal clear nearly straw yellow pilsner like body. I am talking mirror like reflection in this thing, There is no rising carbonation on this at all, with speckled lacing.

Woah what's that nose!?! Dank apricot.. did I just say that? Yes I did.. in the same sentence. Fresh juicy hop apricot and a faint earth dankness together. Woah that is a combination that I have never had the joy of smelling.. It's a great combination. Fruity but not flakey... Dense but not gritty soil stuck in your teeth.. love where this is going.

Schlafly brings the bread and the goods on the palate. Rich apricot and malt backbone, it's practically baked bread with apricot fruit in it. A real great feel with a classic bread softness, I feel like dried fruit apricot is being pulled out of my teeth and my gums. Dry and resinous, with a thick finish but not much large sweetness which makes it real nice. Feels like fruit/beer territory, the fruit hop angle on this is large, as if they threw fruit in the boil. FRUIT FRUIT FRUIT and it's all HOPS baby.

Schlafly you just keep doing it right... at 7.2 this is going down fast like nothing. It feels even session-able which is a scary downright immoral thing to say. Oh man this is GOOD! You may get a different hop angle, one friend calls pine, the bottle calls citrus, I call apricot blast, either way.. it's pure friggin win.

This Tasmanian IPA was had in a shaker pint.

Appearance- About a finger of white foam sitting on top of the glass, a little spot lace is on the glass too. The body is about as light lager looking as a beer could possibly be, a transparent yellow-gold with copious amounts of carbonation columns.

Smell- Man this IPA smells great! There is some tropical fruit hanging out, mixing with a spicy herbal scent. This combo is incredibly intoxicating, and I haven't even taken a drink yet. Oh yeah, the tropical fruit is more sweet, like star fruit and oranges. Only getting a 4 because it could be much stronger.

Taste- I'm already halfway through this bottle, quaff-able indeed. It has a lot of that herbal spice that was on the nose with more biscuit malt. The bitterness that sticks to the back of my mouth has a resin-y edge to it.

Tropical fruit is not as evident here. Maybe some orange and grapefruit in the finish, but not shining through like the spice. Still a great drink.

Mouth feel- The feel is completely appropriate but not overly interesting. It is slick and has enough stick to keep the flavor coming, but just barely has a medium body and no real heft.

Overall- I really enjoyed this beer! And at 7.2%, this beer could be down right dangerous. For an IPA, it gives you just enough bitterness and flavor to keep it interesting. I hope there are 6 packs left the next time I go back to the store...

Pours a clear golden color with a solid half inch cream head that leaves a solid sheet of lacing to the rim.

Floral hops mingle with fresh cut grass, pine, and grapefruit, overwhelming the subtle cracker-like malt backbone.

Flavor reveals more malt character, slightly sweet and bready, with a fairly dry, slightly bitter finish. Skunky hops, with notes of lime, grapefruit, herbal hops, and a bit of catty dankness add complexity.

Body is is moderate, with carbonation on the high side of moderate, and a somewhat astringent finish.

Overall, a nice, hoppy brew, with substantial malt backbone. Less citrusy than most, more dank, skunky focus.

A-pours a clear, goldish type color with a two finger head and plenty of lacing

S-heavy citrus including lemon/lime, pineapple, maybe tangerine..not so much grapefruit smell, it has more of a sweeter citrus aroma

T-strong hop bite that doesn't linger too aggressively; traditional citrus peel with some grapefruit type flavors in the taste

M-not too thin, enough carbonation; fairly dry but not overly harsh aftertaste

O-a really solid IPA that delivers more on the aroma than the taste; it uses light malts to really highlight the hop aroma, but I wish there was a bit more pop in the taste

12 oz bottle into a Hoffman House chalice. Dated 10-08-12 - four days ago!

A - Brilliantly clear deep gold with a large, bright white head that falls into a thick crown.

S - Exotic tropical fruits with a resiny, green background note.

T - Inital soft honey-sweet maltiness quickly transitions into a veritable fruit salad of hop flavors with a firm, but clean bitterness. Kiwi, passionfruit and pineapple. Finish is bone dry with only mild bitterness and subtle remaining fruitiness.

M - Medium body with medium carbonation.

O - One of the finest southern hemisphere IPAs available, and at a bargain price. Buy it by the case.
