A - Poured a murky burgundy color with a small, tan head of foam. It left some sudsy lace.
S - It smelled of toffee and butterscotch with some biscuity notes.
T - Lots of toffee with a touch of butterscotch and maltiness.
M - It was crisp and smooth. A medium to full bodied ale.
O - This is a good old ale. I love their Culinaria series of beers.

A beautiful deep, clear ruby. Little head and no effervesce (as is natural for a cask). Despite a long journey from the bar toffee and vanilla notes are present (perhaps some time spent in oak?). Flavor is remarkably vanilla, yet not in the least bit cloying. No hints of hop or bitterness, a clean finish. The mouthfeel is wonderful! So creamy! Of late it seems that Schlafly wants to hop up everything, glad they left this one alone. Very tempted to go back there before the cask is gone.

Not especially fancy looking, brown and clear, not much head or lace.
Smell is very wine like. Lots of fruity barleywine like characteristics. The wine character is less obvious in the taste, it's more heavy malts and a little bit of wine.
Body is a bit notable on the alcohol, medium and semi-sweet followed by a dry finish.
It's an interesting choice, a bit odd but you should probably try at least a four ounce pour if you're at the taproom.
