Poured into a fluted pilsner glass.

Look: Hazy golden straw color. Fuzzy white head with decent retention. Splotches of lacing remain on the glass.

Aroma: Grassy, herbal, and lemony with faint malt underneath.

Mouthfeel: Bright, medium to light body.

Overall: Really grassy, bright, citrusy.

A - golenrod yellow color, 1/8 " head with slow dissipation, heavy lacing in rings and along side of the glass.

S - Not much of a smell that I can distinguish.

T - dry, floral hoppy taste, medium body

M - dry feel on the tongue, little carbonation, medium body

O - All i tasted was hops, which can be a positive feature in a beer when partnered along other features. This is a quality beer and I was hoping for more flavor from this beer.

12oz bottle, pours pale straw yellow with excellent clarity and a frothy white head. Not much for lace, but that's ok. Aromas are sharp pilsner malt, grassy hop. Tastes are pilsner malt, grass, prickly hop presence, some bitterness, but nice balance. Body is thin-to-medium, crisp, finishes dry that warrants another sip. Drinks well. Overall, excellent representation of the style. One of the best offerings I've had from the Saint Louis Brewery.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into pilsner glass.

Pours a light golden, translucent color. Appears to have high carbonation. Light head, less than 1/2 finger. Good lacing.

Reminds me of summer. Light aroma consisting of some toasted grains and earthy hops. Not much else otherwise.

Crisp and refreshing with some flavor. Lightly toasted biscuits up front followed by a very light bitter bite with earthy hops.

Light body and higher carbonation. Very drinkable.

A great fresh pilsner. Light and refreshing while still tasting good. This would be a great beer to put a few back while doing anything outside.

A: Pours a clear gold with a tight white head that recedes slowly.

S: Aromas of grain, hay, straw, grass, and honey are present on the nose, though it takes a couple seconds to separate them all.

T: Notes of grain, hay, grass, lemon, minerals, honey, and straw gently wash across the palate. The finish is extremely crisp and clipped with lemon, mineral, and grain notes. In terms of taste, this lager is very reminiscent of some of the drier, hoppier German pilsners.

M: Medium bodied, dry, and firm for the style. Carbonation is very crisp. This is an extremely drinkable lager, one that would be perfect on a hot day.

O: This is a quality German-style pilsner made by a very reliable brewery. I could see this being an excellent transition from macro lagers to both craft beers and some of the classic European styles. This is very much worth trying.

This Pilsner seems a little more sour than most Pilsners I've had from Europe. Since this is my favorite style of beer, I tend to judge a little more stringently.
It's drinkable, but has more after taste, is a little more sour, and is not as light bodied as I'd like to have in a good German or Czech style pilsner. I prefer Schlafly's Kolsch over this any day.

light pale golden color with a big white head and a nice streaming carbonation from the bottom. Smell was very yeasty, with the classic lager smell. Hints of a slight hoppiness could be detected. First impression of the taste was light, crisp, clean and refreshing. Flavors are atypical of the style and nothing exceptional.

Poured this German Pilsner from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. The pilsener poured a clear golden color, produced a average white head and it had good retention. Lacing was nice. The aroma of the pilsner had a nice malt base, notes of bread, and a surprisingly strong hop presence for a pilsner. One of the finest smelling pilsner's that this nose has come across. The taste of this beer is light in body, very crisp, excellent mouthfeel. There is a very strong malt base that lays the foundation to herbal notes, grain and hops. Possibly the best American brewed Pilsener that I have tried to this point- very well balanced, great session beer- Nice to see a craft brewer produce a decent Pilsner. Budweiser may be king in St.Louis...but "The King" doesn't have anything on this beer!

Golden body absolutely illuminates the glass with its sharp color and clarity. Nice, white head sits on top and takes a long time to go away, preferring instead to stick to the sides of the glass and leave its mark. Great balance in the scent. The dry-hopped character is obvious, with the noble hops standing out to give it a grassy character. Bread and floral scents come along for the ride, but so does a slight funk, which is the second straight Schlafly brew I've experienced this from.

Refreshing and crisp are the first two words that come to mind. The flavor is easy to get used to. Great balance in the sprucy hops and biscuits malts, with the trademark pilsner flavor attacking all around the tongue. Light body with a tingly carbonation round off what is just, frankly, a well-made brew.

Overall//notes - Pilsners have been growing on me over the last few months. This and Polestar both have made me re-evaluate my mum opinion on them, and with the weather consistently hitting the 90s, might I say that my adjustment is right on time! Very good pilsner that'd be great for a barbeque.

Pours a nice pale golden with a good white head and some retention.

Aroma is fresh, malty and sweet.

Flavor is surprisingly crisp, with a definite hop bitterness. I expected an overly-malted adjunct-style lager, but this one impressed me. A refreshing and delicious lighter beer, and one of the best non-German pilsners I've had in some time. Refreshing!

Poured a pleasant gold straw color.

Smells of light toasty malts with some mild hops.

Taste is quite refreshing with some toasty malts up front with some heavier graininess than "normal" pilsners, the hops comes through as a palate cleansing bitterness with just a hint of spice.

The mouthfeel is better than most pilsners. It's slightly heavier but still represents the pilsner class with a crispness.

It's definitely a drinkable beer, especially on a hot summer day.

Being that I live 20 minutes from St. Louis, and Schlafly is everywhere, this may be one of my choice "BBQ beers" this summer. It's also nice because it's good and it doesn't hit the wallet hard like a lot of beers.

Appearance - A golden, straw yellow color with a slight haze. A very soapy, fluffy looking bright white head that had ok retention and just average lacing. Several bubbles streaming to the top.

Smell - The aroma brought forth some spices similar to a "Wit" beer. Smells like coriander with small stabs of lemon. Smells fruitier than most. Maybe some grain along the lines of wheat or wheat bread. Smells fresh and floral.

Taste - The taste provided the lemon with the spices being held back, so as not to interfere. Small amounts of bitterness. A slight malty character from the grain. Seems pretty well balanced in the taste.

Mouthfeel - Medium to medium/light mouthfeel. Smooth and crisp and very thirst quenching. Refreshing. Not much left on the palate.

Drinkability - This brew would be outstanding during the Summer months while at a cookout. Very easy drinking. Not overly complex. Just a good, solid, enjoyable beer. Worth a try just for the fun of drinking it.

Big thanks to AlCaponeJunior for this!!

Pours a beautiful sunny gold color, with a good 2+ finger of pillow-light head, very rich and fluffy. Dissipates to some splotchy mounds atop the brew, leaving sticky webbing all the way down.

Aroma is lightly malty, with a nice hint of grassy hops and spice.

Taste has a nice malt base, pleasant spicy hops, some grassyness, and a nice little bitter bite at the end.

Feel is light, crisp, bubbly, with a slightly slick texture. It's very smooth, and refreshing.

I could drink this all day long; naturally easy to put back, but an incredibly refreshing and wonderfully tasty. With the temperature uncommonly high at the moment, this hit the spot!

Pours perfectly for a three finger thick head in a 50cl grand pilsner glass, and has a golden and clear body. Great retention on the foam crown!

The aroma is faint with a hint of lemon and husky graininess.

Good sweet grainy cereal up front, with an herbal cooked veggie flavor.

A decent thin crispness and leaves the palate moist. Makes for a decent pils, but it seems more of a Czech style to me.

Poured from 12oz bottle.

A- Pours a very pale golden straw yellow. Two finger white head shows great retention. Ring style lacing on the sides of the glass.

S- A grainy sweetness in the front goes far into the background when the grassy and noble hops come onto the scene. A nice balance to be honest between the two aromas.

T- Noble hops come in the front and last until pretty much the very end. Light sweet malts in the middle shine with a little grainy flavor as well. Ending of the beer is light sweet alcohol with more of the noble hops. The yeast they use comes out at the very end I thought and showed itself for a second before dying down.

M- Light mouthfeel. Carbonation is a little high for the style I thought. Noble hops with some light malts left on the palate. Sweet alcohol, noble hops, and grains left in the aftertaste. Flavors were crisp and clean helping to the well balance overall mouthfeel and flavor. No off flavors at all. Light drying on the palate from the alcohol.

D- This beer is good. Damn good. I was very surprised with this one as not only is it flavorful but the ABV is so low you can drink it all night long. Schlafly made a great tasting and drinking beer with this one.

Review edited while drinking the last of the sixer. After drinking this sixer I'm definitely going to grab another this week. An excellent pilsner, and within the style, outstanding.

Golden yellow, clear, some lacing, not too much head but nice rising bubbles.

Grainy, with crisp lemon hops rounding out the smell.

Pretty tasty stuff, was better on tap tho. Zesty citrus hops and light grains round out a lightly sweet malt backbone.

Feels crisp, dry and tangy. Pleasant to drink.

Slammingfully drinkable ice cold, but doesn't lose its lustre as it warms up (which many beers of this style do). In cans this would easily be the go-to fishin' beer all the time.

What you get here is a very nice, easy drinking brew that's refreshing and satisfying. An excellent example of the pilsner style.

Been looking forward to getting to some Schlafly, so when I was in Joplin recently I grabbed all I could. Decided to try this one for starters.

Hazy pale yellow with a quickly diminishing fluffy white head. A few minuscule spots of lace stick to the pils glass. Sweet malts, lemon, lemon peel, citrus hops and slight meringue to the nose. Malty on the tongue, with a slight grain edge and furtive hop finish. Some more lemon and distant light fruits. Light and crisp with a small creamy middle. Truly digging this one, and look forward to more Schlafly goodness.

Yellow colored lager with a wavy haze. White head leaves a thin, floating film and some bubbly lace.

Big, fruity, lemon aroma. Touch of earthy yeast and barley grain.

Fresh grassy and lemon hop flavor up front. Smooth malty goodness provides a solid, bready backbone. Dry and soapy, slightly metallic aftertaste. A bit on the tart side.

Slightly thicker feel than most pilsners. Creamy medium-body with a semi chewy texture. From the feel and hazy look, it seems there may be some yeast left in this.

Overall, a solid pilsner beer. Nice to see this style from a craft brewery. Crisp and refreshing. Good stuff!

Bottled on 6/24/10

Appearance- Light straw yellow, very clear. Good carbonation which you would expect from this style. Nice medium white head retention.

Smell- A typical pilsner smell. Wisps of malty goodness with a ting of hops.

Taste- Very clean taste. Fairly malty from start to finish but in a very light, delicate pilsner fashion. Has a nice buscuit malt flavor at the end. Very refreshing and the ideal beer for a hot sunny day. The beer finishes with a light hops tang at the end but very balanced and as stated above, refreshing. Only constructive feedback is I wish there was just slightly more body and taste to this pilsner.

Mouthfeel- Decent carbonation on the front of the palate. Fairly light and slight watery mouthfeel.

Drinkability- Very high. Easily could knock back a few on a nice spring, summer, fall day.

Overall- A solid example of a pilsner. Really enjoyed the beer and wish Schlafly would ship to where I live.

Very pale yellow. Small white head recedes quickly but clings to the glass. Wonderfull hop aroma is grassy and citrusy. Initial taste is all hop bitterness, but a sweet malt flavor comes out as the beer warms. Lots of citrusy hop flavor as well. A nice take on the German style pilsner with more hop flavor and less malt flavor then most.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine June 2007.

One thing's for sure: There aren't enough craft-brewed Pilsners in the US right now. Unfortunately, many brewers look upon Lagers as a burden on profits compared to quicker-fermented Ales.

Stunningly clear golden hue with numerous bubbles that form a prim and dapper white head. No retention problems here, as the head clutches to the glass. It boasts a complex hop aroma: fruity, fresh-cut flowers; a bit grassy, with a biscuit dough malt nose to boot. Crispness is first to strike with a pleasing smoothness and a light and tight body. Sturdy layer of pale maltiness meets a balancing hop character that holds a semi-sharp and spicy bitterness, as well as a lingering herbal and grape skin flavor. Ends with a dry, clean graininess and some faint bitterness.

All in all, a superb Pilsner, fresh and clean all over. The balance is there without a doubt; and a modest level of alcohol is great, considering how drinkable it is. What could go better with this than grilled brats, kraut and baked beans?

12 oz. bottle tried 9 Jul 2009. Brewed on date: 04 15 2009. Courtesy of A's folks, thanks!

Served in the 0.4 L Hutthurmer mug. Large yellowish foamy head. Well carbonated. Clear bright golden yellow. Aroma is light, malty, some mineral, a whiff of cucumber (?). Starts with a light maltiness, touch of mineral saltiness. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is a light honeyness. Medium to light creamy body. Light ethanol.

Good choice for a summer day.

A - super clear straw color with a thick foamy white head with great retention

S - strong hop aroma, German-like varieties; some malt but in background

T - clean hop and malt balance, noble hop flavor from start to finish, which is of modest bitterness for a pilsner; very clean yeast character, no esters, phenols or diacetyl

M - medium-light body, moderately high carbonation

D - This is a decent German-style pilsner. It's very clean and has a lot of hop flavor. However, the bitterness falls a bit short of what I would typically expect of the style - which is more in line with a Helles - but the hop flavor itself is a bit strong for a Helles. Nonetheless, I'd drink another if I had one as it is an enjoyable beer, especially on a hot day like this.
