Body sits in the pint glass with a nice, orange hue and a small, white head that retains awfully well. Clear as can be with nice carbonation, not the best looker of the batch but certainly gets the job done. That's a good thing considering that the nose does nothing for me. The earthiness is overblown to create a pungent, unsatisfying scent without much to back it up. Not repulsive, but not impressive in the least.
Thankfully, its a completely different monster on the tongue. Smooth, easy body rests on the tongue with a refreshing kick of hoppiness. Flavors of grass, light citrus, and a sweet underbody hide any trace of that alcohol that might have snuck in through the back door. Drinking a couple of these would prove no challenge, which is surprising for the sharp hop character.
Overall/notes - None-too-shabby American IPA. Redeems Schalfly after the rather mediocre English version they put out earlier this year. Had this on-tap as well, and enjoyed it even more then, but never bothered to take notes. So it goes...
Worth tasting if you can get it.

12oz bottled March 27, 2013. Served at around 40-45F.
Pours hazy amber with nice little bits floating around, three finger white head that settles to a small cap and leaves good lacing behind.
Aroma is citrus, grapefruit, lemon, good bit of pine, a little floral, grassy, some bready and caramel malt. Good strength.
Flavor is grapefruit, lemon citrus, resinous hops, good bit of pine, grassy, some caramel malt backbone, moderate sweetness, moderate to good bitterness, mild to moderate alcohol.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, a little oily, good carbonation.
Nice IPA, but not as good as the Tasmanian IPA!

Crisp and clean, not as hoppy as expected though that may be due to the American Hops of which I am unaccustomed. Very much enjoyed it. Love the box which, as a collector of six-pack sides, is why I purchased it.
Good hop aroma though not as strong as hoped for.
Enjoyed poured aggressively into a pint glass.
Label is updated from that which is above, now covered w/ hops.:-)
(Edit to mention this is now labeled as an APA.)
