Poured into a pint glass from a 12oz bottle.
Pours a very nice hazy golden color with some amber hues in there. Nice 1 inch head that is white and dense with some nice sticky notes to it. Pretty nice looking brew. The head retention is great and reduces to some nice soapy lacing and film.
Aroma is yummy. Herbal and grassy English style hops. Notes of grass and tea notes are present. There is some nice yummy caramel malt notes in the nose that blend perfectly with each other. Biscuity bread notes are present and give the brew a nice inviting aroma.
Flavor starts off perfectly. Nice sweetness comes up first with some slight caramel notes and some bread and then is quickly enveloped in awesome grassy and fresh herbal hop awesomeness. The hops are fresh and more herbal in nature with some slight pine notes to it. There is also a nice slight bitterness on the middle-back end of the brew that follows through till the end of the sip. Nice British bitterness. :)
Body is nice and crisp but also smooth and velvety. Overall, I've had this once before and enjoyed it very much. I don't know why I waited years to finally buy it in bottles and finally try and review it. This brew is worth it and Schlafly continues to do good by St. Louis beer geeks.

Poured into a snifter from the bottle, the beer was a copper color with a white head. A slight lacing was apparent. The aroma was a faint grapefruit aroma, leaning more toward earthy notes. The initial taste was a sour, unrippened grapefruit. Big hops were present, but the hops were more tongue bruising than tasty. In some ways, the hops were almost medicine-like. Did somebody put Nyquil in my IPA? There was no real sense of sweetness or citrus as part of the hops, making the taste one-sided. On close observation, one might detect the malts and a certain biscuity quality that allow the taste to linger. In the aftertaste, the acidity of the hops becomes more harsh. While this has the texture of an IPA, it hardly has any of the taste characteristics.

Pours a light amber color. A bit clearer than I expected. The head is bright white and hugely thick. Major retention and that classic IPA look where it falls in on itself.
Good balance smell with enough malty notes to work in conjuction with the floral, slightly fruity, and earthy hops.
Clean, biscuity flavor. It's mostly a hop bomb so you get a hit of malt early on, then it's all hops.
The hoppy bitter is aggressive, but not offensive. It's there from beginning to end, but you can still feel your teeth after each sip. Medium to full bodied. As opposed to an American IPA, it's got an English IPA's wet finish. No resiny coating of the tongue.
I really prefer American IPA and don't care much for their English counterpart, but this was pretty appropriate for the style. Not sure what the IBU count was, but it's up there, though it's still very drinkable.
