Enjoyed at the brewpub in St Louis, reviews from notes.
A: half finger head on a clear golden with amber hues body.
S: toasted malts, candied citrus and pungent earthy hops.
T: again, a malt forward brew but nicely balanced with hops providing herbal, tart citrus notes. Candy sugar notes throughout.
M: medium body and moderate carbonation.
Overall: even though malty this one is well balanced with nice hop variability. A memorable beer.

a more than good session american pale ale. pours a light and bright golden color, with a tiny bit of yeast remaining, and a two inch head, white and dense, lasting and sticky, sexy. the smell is pretty bitter, with english hops on the lighter side and a citrus hop profile, tangerines and lemon zest. the flavor is more mild, almost dull or mellow, not as jivey as the nose, but lots of hop bitter on both ends, and enough malt in the middle. dry hops add flavor, but i think this isnt as hoppy as a lot of american pale ales. feel is solid, perfect medium body and great carbonation. infinitely sessionable and really satisfying as a morning beer. malty and hoppy at the same time, without being overwhelming. a worthy quaff for sure, but not the best choice at the taproom

It is a cold, snowy day - perfect for catching up on some reviews from my notes.
I always like to try local or special beers when out for dinner (my friends can have Budweiser in St. Louis, I will take Schlafly).
Golden orange pint, short and quickly disappearing white head.
Hops are noticeable in the first whiff, some malt sweetness as well.
Flavor has a good malt base, with lots of hoppy flavor. Fruity and citrus hops, lemon and grapefruit, maybe a bit of pine resin as well. Good flavor, but I wanted more hoppy bitterness. The mouthfeel and body are appropriate, smooth and easy to drink.

Served in a Shaker pint at Beer Run (Charlottesville, VA).
A: Crisp amber-orange with 1-finger of oatmeal colored foamy head with decent retention and some thin lace.
S: Aroma is slightly dank hoppy with some fresher pine and orange citrus aromas. The malt bill lends some residual caramel sweetness.
T: Very clean flavor with a good balance of light caramel sweetness, bready maltiness, and orange-grapefruit citrus and piney hops. The hops are central but the maltiness provides a solid backdrop.
M: A little to light for my taste for the APA style but not terrible, dry towards too dry. Carbonation is also a little heavy-handed.
O: I liked this beer but a little work to provide a little more body and lighter carbonation to give a creamier feel would be welcome.

on tap at Flying Saucer in Nashville. Full disclosure... this is following a Celebration Ale so it may "pale" in comparison (don't worry folks, I'm here all week!)
Clear light golden color with a fluffy white head that doesn't hang around long.
The nose was a letdown for a dry-hopped beer. The hop aromas are a mild mix of spice, pine and citrus.
solid bitterness to go along with a fairly good citrus flavor and a bit of caramel malt & earth grains
The body is medium and the carbonation is moderate to high.
good example of an APA. if you can keep from comparing the flavor profiles from IPA's, you can really learn to enjoy the subtle nuances of APA's.

On tap at Hanger 9 in Carbondale, IL
A: Pours a clear golden orange color. A small white head forms and recedes to nothing. Not much lace to speak of.
S: Citrus, floral, grassy, and slightly herbal hops. Some toasted malts for balance.
T: Follows the nose with the citrus and grassy hops. Toasted and grainy hops. Not bad, just wishing for a bit more.
M/D: A medium body. Though this needs to be more crisp and dryer. Easy to drink. I can quaff several without a problem.
Needs to be dryer for me, with a bit more umpth. Not bad, just a little week. Worth a try however.

pour was deep golden almost brown a slight bright orange hue. bright white pillow like head.
faint citrus with a stronger malt body.
overall, very malty and malt forward with a supporting citrus hoppiness added to it. fairly one dimensional and not very complex but nice. comes off as a slightly heavier pale ale.
nice full body with a great medium carbonation.
not bad, but not something i go to unless the options are limited.

Served on tap at The Cashew in Kansas City on 07/21/2011 in a shaker pint.
A: Nice off-white head and amber hued beer.
S: Weak nose. A little hops, a little pine, a little citrus.
T: Good malt and hops balance with a strong dry-hopped finish. Faint citrus and spice, mostly a piney hops to go along with slightly roasted malt.
M: Medium body with a good hops bite without drying the mouth too much.
O: Enjoyed this one on tap. Would have had another if I was going to stay longer. Not necissarily complex, but well balanced and I got my hops fix in at happy hour.

A: The beer is slightly hazy orange in color and has a slight amount of carbonation. It poured with a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface that slowly faded away, leaving only a thin ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: There are light aromas of citrus and pine resin hops in the nose.
T: Flavors of pale malts stand out in the taste, which also has some notes of citrus from the hops. There is a slight amount of bitterness, which persists through the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied, smooth and a bit crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The beer is very easy to drink and is rather sessionable.

Clear dark yellow body with a small light head and a little lacing.
Nice aroma; fruity hop forward aroma, with just a little sweet malt in the background.
Solid hoppy flavors for an APA. Citrus flavors of grapefruit and a little lemon. Good sweet malt balance.
Superb offering for a hoppy APA. Very drinkable.

on tap at the world famous something or other in fredericksburg, VA. renowned for jacking up prices to obscene levels. anyway, a 12 ozer..
pretty golden color with a decent head that sticks around for most of the glass. aromas of faint barley and a bit of grassy and piney hops. nothing too substantial. the flavor is good, but not very bright. in the flavor, nothing really stands out, a bit of malt, not too much body, small hop bite and a little bit of grassy hop flavor.
overall, a pretty mediocre pale ale for being a dryhopped one. It's certainly not bad, very drinkable. But this could pass for a blond in the NW.

On tap at the brewpub in August 2009. Reviewed from notes.
Pours a moderate orange color with a white head. Nose brings some orange, grapefruit, and hints of pine. There is some moderate malt in the background that works its way into the taste. The taste is mainly comprised of citrus hops. The dry hopping has done this quite well. Nice mouthfeel with good bitterness levels and a really high drinkability factor.

Beer is yellow and hazy with almost no head. There is some lacing from the broken head but its moderate and carbonation appears to be low to moderate and have small bubbles.
Strong citrus hop aroma, I suppose this is what you are going for when you dry hop. There isn't much else there, the sweet hops cover up anything else that may be lurking.
Beer is smooth with only moderate bitterness. It finishes nicely but dry. The more I drink the more harsh the finish becomes. I think the bitterness is growing on me. I think the best part about this beer was the aroma and I feel that there are better hops to use for dry hopping. Overall the beer was OK to good.

had 8/13/09 at Smokey Bones in Belleville,IL
This beer pours a clear gold with a two finger of off-white head. Head retains well and recedes to a layer that stays fairly frothy and thick, leaving nice solid lacing on the glass. Nose is of floral hops some citrus hops and faint pale malts. Taste starts with citrus hop bitternes, balanced in the middle with pale malts and a touch of sweeter caramel malts, finishes with a floral hop bitterness. Medium body, medium to high carbonation, very crisp, dry finish to this beer. Another solid offering from Schlafly - I could sit with this one all day.

Poured a brilliantly clear light amber color into a shaker style pint glass.
Smell of classic american style citrus hops with a touch of a pine note. Beer was extremely fresh and had an incredible nose.
Slight caramel and graininess with an excellent citric hop flavor. Dry finish and excellent carbonation.
Medium light body. Moderate carbonation.
Very drinkable and sessionable APA. When had fresh this is truly an incredible example of a classic dry hopped American Pale Ale.

Had on-tap at the Tap Room.
Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a one-finger white head. The head dissipates into a patchy layer on top leaving decent lacing.
Smells mostly of citrus hops, but pine and pale malt aromas also make their way out.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Pale malt flavors are quickly overtaken by grapefruit and pine needles. The ending is mildly bitter.
Mouthfeel is nice. It has a good thickness with solid carbonation.
Drinkability is good, and the 5.9% ABV on such a tasty brew only helps things.
Overall this is a solid APA and one that I could have often - definitely worth a shot.

A solid choice for an APA. You get a big hop aroma from this beer but the taste does not live up to the smell, which is a bit like cereal. I was hoping for something more bold, not that this beer is completely without character. It is, it's just not very complex. You can get this beer all over St Louis, where it is a favorite.

On tap at the Bottleworks.
This beer pours a slightly cloudy amber color, not that dark but not quite clear. It looks good. The smell is pine and citrus. On the first sip you get the taste to match the smell, hops, hops, hops. Tasted like pine that got more citrus notes as it lingered. Hops dominate but don't wash out the malt flavor. Quite tasty for someone like me who isn't really a hophead. Its about as hoppy as I like beer. Very drinkable, I have no problem putting back five or six of these in a sitting. The glass shows decent lacing as I put it back down on the bar. All in all an excellent ale for those who like a lot a hops but not crazy IPA levels. Recommended.

Had on tap at the Schlafly Tap Room and served in a 5oz sample glass.
A-light brown body with an off white head
S-citrusy, grapefruit
T-firm malt front, hoppy but not overwhelming
M-light-medium mouthfeel
D-not very assertive for this style but all styles have a range and this is on the weak end of the assertive flavor scale

on tap into a pub glass at the brewery in St. Louis. pours a rich golden color, crystal clear, with a single finger of white head. solid lacings and great retention.
aroam is of rich citrusy hops and mild caramel malts, along with a bit of munich malt. all this over a bready base that hold the profile together.
taste is more of the same with a nice hop quality and a refined malt base that takes a back seat to the hops, but sustains them nicely.
mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with a creamy texture up front and a bitter finish. aftertaste is of bitter citrusy hops.
drinkability is good. this is a solid APA with a nice hop quality and a solid malt base. nicely composed.

had a nice copper color with a tan 1 finger head. Was a bit on the cloudy side.
Smell wasn't very strong to me, just a hint of malt and yeast.
The taste reminded me a lot of an IPA, although a bit less hoppy. Definitely noticed the malt and wheat like flavors, with a hoppy finish.
Mouthfeel wasn't bad, the first thing I noticed was the carbonation, then the flavors come through, finishing with the hops.
Drinkability to me was good for this style. I'm not a big fan of IPAs and related styles, but this one had enough balance in it to where I wouldn't refuse one if offered. Worth giving this one a try.

Sampled at the brewery in St. Louis while on a road trip with my lady. The beer was honey gold with amber highlights and a creamy, white head. Great retention and solid lacing. Aromas of piney hops and mint with sweet malts, and spices beneath. The flavors are again hops-forward, piney and citric. A malty/bready character appears in the middle to add some gumption and balance. AS the beer warms it gets more drinkable and the hops provides a resin-like, tongue-coating, dry finish. Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. Sessionable and enjoyable. A very good example of the style and worth seeking out.

Had on tap at a recent visit to the Flying Saucer. This beer was served in a non-branded shaker pint. This beer pours a clear, straw golden with a big frothy white head that left sticky lacing down the entirety of the glass. The aroma is piney hops, a hint of orange and a subtle malty sweetness. The taste is spot on for an APA. A nice piney hop presence that's not overpowering yet strong enough to let a mild bitterness reside on the tongue. The sweet malty backbone comes out in the finish to push the hops off the palate. Really nice an crisp mouthfeel. Its light with just a hint of dryness. This is a really easily drinkable brew by Schlafly. I really think that their best brews are their sessionable ones.

A- Copper with lightly tan head.
S- Hoppy and fresh but the smell does not linger far from the glass.
T&M- Mild bitterness with strong astringent qualities from hops. Dry aftertaste. as warmed in temperature the malt comes through with a richer mouthfeel though dryness remains
D- Good beer that I could drink a lot of with a pizza in a beer garden.
