This nice amber wheat ale brings a frothy appearance (deep head) and no lace.
Superb and fragrant aroma - cinnamon, banana, and clove. Delectable!
The first taste impression is a well-balanced maltiness, with hints of banana and spicy clove.
Medium-bodied, this wonderful beer isn't flashy or showy, but it is a flavorful wheat beer, and one of Schlafly's finest. Eminently enjoyable and steady.

A - Pours a dark copper color with a thin head that fades quickly. Not quite translucent as there is a subtle haze.
S - Sweeter than I remember. Banana notes are very strong. Slight bready backbone.
T - Also very sweet. Banana flavors are mixed with some candied sugar. Not the contrast of flavors I would expect.
M - Light and crisp.
O - A good, but not great beer. Would be good in early spring as the weather begins to turn warm.

Haven't had this beer since last summer in a bottle. Enjoyed this beer on-tap at Schneithort's in St. Louis, MO. They have No. 15 on tap and have a special agreement with Schlafly Brewery to call it "Schneity Brau"- their house beer. Served into an Anheuser Busch Pint Glass and enjoyed over popcorn and a St. Louis Blues game.
Appearance- Dark orange in color and cloudy. Half a finger of head and left lace.
Smell- I smelled tons of spices and autumn.
Taste- Very great taste! Spicy, yet has a mild fruit on the way through.
Mouthfeel- Good carbonation, Light Bodied, and smooth. A pumpkin pie finished and left the best of tastes in my mouth.
Drinkability- Not all that bad but only can drink one. This reminded me of the Schlafly Pumpkin ale except with more wheat added in and less ABV%. Wondering why it says this beer isn't being brewed anymore while I enjoyed it last night (3/7/11).

A- 4 An aggressive pour led to a 1/2" bubbly head that dissipated quickly; would've liked to see more retention. Fairly light lacing. The best aspect of the beer's appearance is definitely its color for me. It's a beautiful amber that can barely be seen through.
S- 3.5 The smell is mildly wheaty and of spices. Maybe a little banana. It smells decent, but I can't smell enough of it...
T- 4 I found the flavor of this beer quite tasty. Mild spices such as clove and nutmeg, and a sweetness (banana and a hint of bubble gum) that round it out well.
M- 4 Medium-light body that goes down clean and smooth. Not heavy at all considering its (cohesively) rich flavor. Carbonation is good despite the poor head retention.
D- 4 I could enjoy this dark wheat beer for hours. It's very well-balanced. It's tasty and smooth and light enough to drink easily. This is a solid brew I'd recommend trying if you're looking for a twist on wheat or just a flavorful, easy-to-drink option in general.

Poured from bottle with "bottled on" date of 10/28/2010.
Appearance: I think I had some glassware issues as the head was slight and dissipated quickly, though that is counter to most other reviews. Dark honey color and very cloudy. The unfiltered bits appear to be in suspension, it looks like a very thick beer.
Smell: Banana, lemon, and a bit of bubblegum. Strong smell.
Taste: Wheaty with banana and bubblegum notes. The citrus is present, but takes a back seat compared to other wheats, with a bit more of a hops finish instead.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. Very clean finish. Just a tad watery at times.
Drinkability: Very, very pleasing and drinkable. While the American Dark Wheat Ale style description on BA states there should be no banana esters, you could definitely smell and taste them with this brew. A very pleasing wheat ale that has just enough going on to intrigue.

Poured from the tap a nice dark orangey yellow with a nice rocky white head, that disapated but left a small amount of lace for the rest of the beer. The smell is a nice mix of yeasty floral notes with some slight fruity and wheat notes. The taste is similar to the smell dominated by the yeast but is backed up by some decent bananna and clove with a small spice note. Mouthfeel is smooth and active with nice carbonation. The drinkability of this beer is wonderful could definately have a few of these. Very nice american wheat from Schlafly.

Appearance has a cloudy golden brown color so thick that i can't see thru the glass. Smells very aromatic with the yeast with a very sweet fruit smell to your nose. Tastes sweet, malty, biscuity, yeasty....then very sweet again with a little sour aftertaste. Good mouthfeel with a nice well balanced flavor not much carbonation. This is excellent, i would drink this again.

Clear, deep amber with a slight redness and really no head to speak of. It almost looks as if its gone flat when sitting in the glass. The scent yields lots of spice with just a touch of banana and bubblegum. The tastes are much of the same with the addition of a fruity apple component. The spiciness really dominates and ends in a lingering pepper. You have to try to taste the banana and bubblegum. Despite the appearance of being flat, it has a good deal of carbonation. I didn't really know what to expect from this offering, but it was better than I anticipated. I'd have it again.

A fairly aggressive pour into a nonic glass yielded a quarter inch of tan head. It is amber colored. The aroma has a lot going on. I get bubblegum, banana, clove, and other spices. The taste is some caramel malt, clove and is dominated by spices. The mouthfeel is medium. I really like this beer. I wish the spices were muted a bit to let some of the other flavors come through. I would absolutely drink this again.

Selling from the shelves one last time, I picked up a six before they're all gone.
Hazy brown red, with a pretty sturdy white head that died down to remain for the length of the beer. Looks solid, but not overpowering.
Lovely deep wheat aromas, with what could be a Belgian yeast. I'm getting bananas, cloves, a hint of alcohol.
Dark wheat spice, and a bit of what could be apple cider on the tongue, with some smokiness. The same Belgian notes come through here as well.
Like most in the Schlafly stable, the carbonation is pretty good.
While I think this is a good beer, especially for a style that doesn't get much attention, it's not one that I'd necessarily drink over and over.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine June 2007.
This beer is a salute to their 15th anniversary, hence the name. Not many brewers go down the road of the American Dark Wheat Ale. It's one of the most underrated beer styles out there, so it's good to see another brewery going for it.
Hazed, reddish apple cider color, with a dense and healthy off-white froth that holds its own as it clings to the mug. Sweet floral and wheat aroma with a spicy backing. Hefty medium body with a creamy smooth mouthfeel. Heavy hand of malt up front with layers of spicy wheat, herbal hop and a fruity twang from middle to end. Long-lingering finale of spicy wheat and a touch of herbal hop resin.
Quite impressive, to say the least: a clear example that American brewers can be creative without going overboard. Grilled lemon-pepper pork loin and Asiago polenta would be an awesome pairing to toss that this beer.

A: I love the color. Decent retention.
S: Fruit and Spice and everything nice. Very aromatic.
T: Lives up the the smell. Banana, phenols, cloves, bubblegum, clove, and then lingering peppery spice and caramel. No bitterness.
M: Medium. Bit creamier/syrupy than I expected. Not much carbonation.
D: Goes down well enough, although the lingering caramel decreases this a bit.
Overall, good beer. A bit more bite and carbonation would have improved it, in my opinion.
