A - It poured a deep mahogany brown with a 1 finger tan head that dissipated fairly quickly leaving great lacing

S - Malty coffee scent makes up what is a fairly one note scent

T - Toasty chocolate malt flavors take the forefront leaving room for a moderate bitterness due to the hops

M - It's somewhat lighter on the palate than I would like and moderately carbonated

O - It's a drinkable and middle of the road porter. There really isn't anything that stands out about it so I doubt I would go out of my way to track it down again.

Dark brown, not quite black body, with a short whisper of a light brown head. Lacing is OK. Odor is sweetly malty with nutty, dark chocolate notes. Flavor starts out with a nice sweet malt attack and that nice dark chocolate in there too. This is followed by a quick bitterness in the middle, and then a respumption of mild semi-sweet chocolate in the back end. Slightly grainy in mouthfeel, medium bodied. A decent porter, nothing mind-blowing, but a good example of the style and easy enough to drink.

A: This poured a clear dark cherry with moderate tan head.
S: It smelled like dark chocolate and roasted coffee, with some earthy cocoa powder.
T: It tasted like roasted barley and coffee, with some earthy dark chocolate and copper. It had a somewhat clean and bittersweet aftertaste.
M: It was watery with moderate carbonation. Decent body.
D: This had a nice scent, but only ok taste and body. The finish wasn't the best, but it was still easy enough to drink. An average and forgettable brew, but at least it wasn't offensive.

Pours out a crisp dark brown with plentiful light foamy mocha head that slowly fades.

Smell is good - bready grains and chocolate malt, a hint of caramel toffee. It's straight forward, and not particularly complex.

Taste is where this one falls apart. It starts off nicely - malty with light cocoa, but it fades into a really strange finish - it reminds me of ashy water. Unpleasant. Maybe it's the interaction of the hops with the caramel malt?

Feel is good, robust, medium bodied, creamy.

It's too bad the taste was so strange. I hope I got bad a bottle and this isn't normal for the beer.

12 ounce bottle, bottle date of 04/08/10. Pours clear reddish brown color with 1-2 fingers of a fairly dense light tan head with nice retention that reduces to a cap that lasts. No lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of roasted malts, light chocolate, caramel, coffee, and a good amount of spicy hops. Some pretty weak aromas here, with a lot of hop presence. It improved a bit as it warmed up. Taste of spicy hops, with a bit of roasted malts, light chocolate, bitter coffee, and caramel. Fairly dry finish, but has a decent amount of bitterness, with lingering notes of roasted malt, light chocolate, caramel, and spicy hops. Medium bodied with fairly high carbonation. A bit of creaminess in the mouthfeel as well. Overall quite a hoppy and interesting porter, but 1.5 years have not been kind to this beer. I may have to pick one up fresh and see how it is. I had no idea they dated the front of the labels.

A BOTMC brew that arrived at my door with a foreward by none less than the bros, imagine that. Well let's give it a whirl. Smell is a delicious blend of roasted malts and some milk chocolate and coffee. Pours to a dark translucent brown with a foamy microbubble tan head. Taste is a nice roasted malt flavor with a light almost noble hop background. Just the right bitterness, its there but doesn't overpower the hops. Finish is a nice chaulky bitter aftertaste that fades but leaves a lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel is a little thin but this brews lacks nothing in flavor. Not a big heavy porter but extremely high drinkability. Very tasty.

A= medium mahogany brown, modest head and carbonation.

S= hints of dark chocolate, toffee, some hops florals, dark malts.

T= decent, I prefer stronger Porters but this is a good beer although it reminded me more of a Schwarzbier in style. A bit of dry chocolate, toffee, modest hops bitters. Modest carbonation.

M= a little lingering toffee, coffee, fairly nice.

O= very drinkable for session or with many meals that would be good in the Schwarz category.

A dark brown but completely clear brew, shines amber throughout the body. Big foamy, sticky tan head. Clean chocolate malt scent. Nice chocolate malt front, a bit of roast, touch of piney hop. Medium bodied but pretty wet. This is a nice well balanced porter. Nothing crazy, but solid.

A smooth, two-finger tan head tops this Porter, with good lacing sticking to the glass as it recedes. A clear and dark ruby-red color when held to the light, outwardly it appears very dark brown, approaching black.

The aroma of flowering hops greets the nose, with a bit of earthiness and a hint of molasses. On first sip, the molasses dominates the front of the palate, with strong coffee bitterness and a bit of toffee in the aftertaste. Good viscosity and depth of flavor. Well carbonated, a thick carpet of foam is retained as the brew slowly disappears from consumption, and dissolves into a creamy immersion when swilled.

Overall, a good iteration of the style.

Bottle (marked 04/03/11) poured into a nonic pint.

A- A moderate pour created a 1-1/2 finger, tan head that drops to a fully covering film that stays the duration and leaves good rings and webbing about the glass. The body is a dark brown-black with ruby hues at the edges Moderate carbonation peeks through the dark body.

S- Classic chocolate and coffee dominate. Hints of fruit, along the lines of cooked cherries, plums, or raisins, play a minor role. Warmth amplifies the aroma.

T- Good mix of dark chocolate and robust coffee take the lead. Husky grains are in the background and come out a bit more near the finish. Lighter hops make for just a touch of citrus zest.

M- Slightly grainy/chalky, which I consider good for the style with moderate carbonation. That said, it's a touch lighter than expected, but not so bad for a lower alcohol brew.

D- It's very drinkable. It's definitely smooth enough to drink a couple in a sitting. Flavorful enough to make me want to come back to it. It's a solid, standard release porter.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: 1 finger of tan foam. Dark brown body. Looks like a damn near perfect porter. upon first pouring it. Head recedes and blankets the sides of the glass in foam.

Smell: Chocolate malts and a little bit of grassy hops.

Taste: Chocolate and toasty malts. Moderate bitterness. This is a really solid porter.
