Poured a golden/amber color with a 1 finger head and left some decent lacing on the glass.

Smells sweet with a little grassy, herbal tone.

Earthy and herbal upfront followed by a fairly sweet malt taste and a slightly bitter finish. Flowery (rose?) aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is medium with a good amount of carbonation.

Overall a decent beer at a good price point.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass

A: Mediumish copper depending on the light, clear, head settles to nice covering foam and sticks pretty easily to the sides of the glass, not in big sheets but just enough

S: Slightly sweet smelling, it makes the hops seem fruity, but judging by the flavor they aren't really, more of a light pine/resin aroma combined with the slight malt sweetness, a little mild for an IPA

T: Same sentiments as the aroma, good malt honey sweetness to support a moderate hop bitterness, the hops again are sticky and resiny, pretty good flavor, but the bitterness is not where I expect it and the flavor could be turned up a bit

M: Not nearly as dry as some IPA's, just a little bit to keep the palate clean, easy to drink

O: A good "kind hoppy" beer when you wants something thirst-quencing and easy to drink. Not much of an IPA though, especially when compared to the better versions of the style. I'm definitely the first to admit that I don't like all the imperial beer craze, but this tastes more like a pale ale.

A: Pours a translucent copper. One and a half finger khaki head. Retention is moderate. Lacing is better than average. Carbonation is lively, with fairly large bubbles racing to the surface.

S: Fairly deep malt. Lot of fresh pulped grapefruit. Splash of cinnamon, little bit of caramel. Bit of herbal quality in the hoppiness. Nose is malt dominant.

T: Entry of cooked bread and toffee. . Juicy mid palate of grapefruit pulp transitions into grapefruit rind and citrus oil with a bit of herbal quality. Bruised mint on the finish and a touch soapy. Not exceptionally bitter, but enough to really balance things out.

M: Fairly light for an IPA. The malt weighs things down a touch, but the relatively low abv keeps things from being too heavy.

O: While not an the top tier of IPA's, this is still a no frills representation of the brand. And at literally 1.13 a bottle after tax and CRV, it may be the most beer for your buck you can find anywhere.

12oz bottle poured into a pint

Pours a light orange color. Crystal clear with some visible carbonation pushing north. A two finger off-white cap. Decent retention with sheets of lacing.

Floral and earthy notes with some light caramel and undercooked biscuits. A touch of pine needles pokes through, but the hop aroma is pretty subdued.

On the palate, soft caramel slides in with some floral and earthy hops. Undercooked, doughy biscuits through the middle. The finish is a blend of pine, earth, and flowers.

On the lighter side of medium. Clean and straightforward.

A pretty average IPA in all aspects.

Good beer, great value. One of Trader Joe’s private label beers, this IPA was produced by local favorite Firestone Walker under the alias Steinhaus Brewing. It’s a solid brew, with all of the hoppiness you expect. It’s no Pliny, but it wasn’t meant to be.

Pours a clear copper with a half inch cream head that dissipates slowly, leaving lines of lacing.

Caramel malt, toasted bread, dank hops, tart citrus, and resin form the aroma. Fairly catty, with notes of onion as it warms.

Sweet caramel malt dominates the flavor throughout. There's a dank hop character throughout, but it's overwhelmed by sweetness. Muted grapefruit and floral hops carry into a slightly bitter finish. Dank hops are also present.

Body is moderate, with moderate carbonation and an astringent finish.

Sweeter than I hoped. Hop character is overwhelmed somewhat. Though there's at least some slightly interesting flavoring hop presence.
