Good creamy head, leaves a frothy lacing in glass. Smell is slightly sweet and pleasant. Light caramel color with some caramel notes going down with a hint of bitterness. I find imperials to be on the sweet side which this one is not....entirely, that is a good thing. Not overpowering in alcohol as well.
Good job by Speakeasy, a solid imperial ipa. I would buy this again

Poured from bomber into a snifter glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear copper color with a nice thick and billowy off- white head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a nice level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of malt with lots of bready and caramel smells. Mixed with this is a good dose of a boozy aroma as well as some moderately strong pine and grapefruit hop.
Taste – The taste begins with a big malty taste upfront with a more lightly hoped flavor of a grapefruit hop variety. As the taste advances some tropical fruit sweetness comes to the tongue with it at the same time being counterbalanced by some flavors of a more resinous pine hop entering as well. Toward the end of the taste, the grapefruit citrus hop resurges and is joined by some hop flavors of a more earthy variety. The combination of hop and malt are met, at the very end, by a rather light alcohol taste, leaving a moderately grapefruit bitter but smooth malty and somewhat sweeter flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel –The body of the beer was on the slightly thicker and creamier side with a carbonation level that was just below average. The thicker and creamier body were rather nice for the malty and hopped flavors of the brew with the lower carbonation being perfect for producing a nice sipper in combination with the flavors with alcohol taste presence.
Overall – A rather malty and smooth double IPA with a rather balanced flavor profile. It’s not too complex but rather tasty. Well worth a try.

Note, my bottle says 8.5 % abv, the Beer Advocate has it listed at 9.5%.
A: Copper colored with one and a half finger khaki head. Transparent, with a fairly lively carbonation. Head retention is moderate, as is lacing.
S: Big malts, with bits of vanilla and caramel. Layers of tobacco, pine resin and citrus are also within. Possibly an old bottle.
T: Expired. Some tawny, oxidized notes, bit of bitterness on the end. Bitterness is sticky and resinous with predominantly floral and spruce aspects. Bit of tropical fruit, but the citrus is mostly gone. Alcohol adds a subtle layer of sweetness. Finishes dry.
M: Medium bodied. Perhaps a bit on the leaner side of an Imperial IPA, which is my preference (Hello Pliney!)
O: I can't fairly rate Double Daddy on an expired bottle. I can, however, rate this particular bottle of beer. Expired, but not to the point where the hops have entirely disappeared. I can't get past the oxidized notes that are prevalent. There is still a good amount of hoppiness within the beer, but it's never really present until the aftertaste. Otherwise, it's pretty much a wash. Currently, I'm rating this a solid 3.5/5, but I will re review it when I come across it again.
