Rich, Smooth, and Tasteful. Yes George Clooney is a good actor, but we're speaking, of course, about our Black Silk Stout! With a smooth texture and aroma of roast coffee and cocoa, this fine OATMEAL STOUT is just waiting for the lads to toast a pint, or to end the evening as a dessert beer or velvety nightcap. Perfect on cold New England nights, so stop in and kick your legs up on a warm barstool while you "sip the silk."

Had at City Steam brewery and served in a pint glass. Appearance is spot on and the aroma is very inviting. The taste is actually pretty good, too. So far this is the best beer I've had from them. Nice body, bordering on a bit too heavy, but very potent roasty flavor. Hints of coffee and molasses.

No, this isn't the best stout I've ever had, nor is it the ideal representation of the oatmeal stout style. It is a good beer, though. I'd certainly be happy to drink this regularly.
A couple of notes about what doesn't work for me. First off, it's a little too carbonated. I've had other stouts where the carbonation is a tad bright. It comes across as unpolished to me. A stout, particularly an oatmeal, really should be smoother IMO.
That said, the aroma is dynamite coming fresh off the tap, clean and chocolatey without being too cloying. Flavor is very good, not too sweet, just the right mix of malt and yeast, chocolate and hop.
So yeah, not a bad entry from City Steam.

On tap at the source.
Comes to the table a solid black with a small tan head that seems perpetual. Smells of caramel coffee and a hint of chocolate. Little if any hop is present in the aroma. The flavor is roasty with coffee and burnt sugar with just a hint of chocolate and a light fruity tartness. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick sweet mouthfeel. Good stout, but lacking something that I can't quite put my finger on. Needs a bit more creaminess in the mouthfeel for an oatmeal stout too.
