The best beer store in Calgary is slightly more selection that a good US supermarket. Nothing in the US league. Only 1 cash open and absolutely no service anywhere. You have to know what you want.. Very good on events, wine, scotch and hard liquor selection. Very attractive store, with food panelling and well laid out although not that big. Selection is what can I see, weak outside of Local Calgary favorites. And this is the biggest selection. Supposedly good at promotions getting glasses and the like. Great hours.

Irondjinn brought me there with my coaches while on a football tour of Calgary.
Beerwise I loved the selection of western microbrews avalaible there, because we cannot get them here. Also a totally different type of establishment compared to here. Price wise for alcohol, way quite cheaper than Quebec, I saw a scottish whisky I know cost 160$ in Montreal, the same bottle was 80$ in Calgary.
Also the space of the store was kind of nice, usually in SAQ, or LCBO I feel uneasy walking around as im a very big guy, there, it was fileld with space.
Now I must say, why I put "1" on service, when I paid by "debit card" for a bottle of Wild Rose Pilsner, the cashier told me "sorry sir, the text will be in french, press english" I replied "Hey no worries, im french"
he replied back "then you might correct it, you're the damn french"
on a very sarcatic note, not a funny tone! I really did not appreciated.
I should have bought more stuff there tho

Went in on BA recommendation.
First impression: Huge place, where is the beer?
After trucking to the back I found the promised selection of beer. I was not impressed at first, but the upon closer inspection there is a lot of beer to choose from here. Lots more than it initially seems. The selection was quite good, unfortunately they did not have particularly what i was looking for (but i dont necessarily blame the store, 99% of places in Alberta do not either).
Picked up some tasty hefe's for the night, my friend got mead for a change. Good experience. I stopped by the next night for a 'london porter', which of course they had.
Last Impression: All in all I will be going here often when in Calgary. Good accessibility and good selection. Decent prices. No comment on service. It was not bad nor good.

I actually work at Willow Park and although it's good, Royal Liquor on 17th S.W in Calgary carries a comparable selection. They seem to have a knack for carrying what Willow Park doesn't. They also don't have a few Willow does, but they have quite a few Willow doesn't. Especially in the Unibroue catagory. The had "Terrible" over a month and a half before willow, and have been much more reliable when it comes to keeping enough stock to last longer then 12 hours. Willow, is still probobly bigger, but Royal makes a point of offering pretty much all of the alternatives. Between the 2 of them you'll find pretty much all Alberta has the capability to offer.

Although others have narrowed the gap, this is still the best place in Calgary to get beer.
Willow Park's selection is the best in the city: an impressive mix of quality Canadian craft beer, the widest variety of U.S. micros I've seen in Calgary, and a vast assortment of European offerings.
For BAs who want to experiment, choices abound: plenty of singles and bombers that make trying something new less of a hit to your wallet if you don't like what you bought.
The prices are probably the best for craft beers and imports in Calgary. For some of the more expensive U.S. brands, it's the difference between paying $16 for a six-pack at Willow Park vs. $19 somewhere else.
I agree with the earlier assessments that you can't expect much help if you're not a well-heeled oenophile or single-malt fanatic. Still, somebody at Willow Park obviously knows a lot about beer to amass the selection this place has.

One of the best places in the city to pick up a great variety of beer as well as wine and other bevies. Dave the beer guy is a great asset and is always happy to help you out or give a suggestion or two. They have everything from your standard fair to more unique varieties, and everything from cans to growlers can be found. Really only down side is parking on Fridays through the weekend.
They have a number of unique events held either upstairs in the tasting area or downstairs in the event centre, including last years surprise Dieu de Ciel tasting evening. Also next door is Springbank Cheese company, where you can pair your new brews with some fantastic cheeses from around the world.

Went to Willow Park for the first time this past weekend while visiting friends in Calgary. Basically made me extremely jealous that this kind of place is impossible in Saskatchewan. Damn government controled liquor stores...
This really is an amazing store. The flagship of a chain in the Calgary area, this store carries an amazing assortment of spirits and a truly vast selection of wines, but we're not here to talk about that...
All of the beer is located in one large cool room. The macros and larger micros have their products down the middle and on the right hand side basically stacked up (I think they were on pallets). As far as this goes, it's par for the course. The real excitement comes as the imports and smaller micros are on the shelves completely filling the left hand wall. Many imports that they have are not only unavailable in Saskatchewan, but also in alot of other stores in Calgary. I've been told that the prices are competitive as well (I can hardly vouch for price comparison when I've only seen some of these products at this one store). Not only do they have a wide variety of imports and micros, but the majority tend to be well placed (in terms of quality) on BA.
I was looking for one brew in particular that they didn't have on the shelf. The staff jumped to it right away looking to see if they had any someplace else or hidden. Unfortunately they didn't find any, but I sure appreciate the effort.
I will definitely be making stops to Willow Park a regular part of my visits to Calgary.

Big store in SE Calgary, hit it a couple times now because it's close to my parents place there. Great import selection of mostly Belgian stuff, though some Mikkeler and misc. as well. You can get all the Alberta releases as well as beer from across Canada: Cannery's line, DDC, Charlevoix, Half Pints, Trois Mousquetaires, etc... including their mix packs in some cases. Some American imports like Lagunitas.
Seems to often be tastings on the weekends, relatively knowledgeable staff. Great selection of scotchs, ports, wines as well - talked to the scotch guy, knows his stuff.
Great place with a really wide selection, most of it in coolers except the bigger Euro imports. Love going here, puts my local LCBO to shame.

There's definitely a beer geek running the beer section here, and I'm glad they've got him.
They've already got probably the best selection of wine in the city, and I rarely visit them without picking up a bottle of vino and around $50 of tasty imported microbrews. Without them and Kensington Wine Mart, I'd never have found half of what I've sampled. Dogfish head IPA (60, 90, and 120 minute) springs to mind. Then there's the Christmas special packs of Belgians, with glassware.
Best all-round beer choices, best Belgian beer choices. Bar none.

Easily one of the best selections in Calgary. Their South Centre location is by far the best, but all the other locations will order anything that is stocked at the South Centre location. I can easily spend an hour browsing their beer selection. There's no deals to be had, but the prices are definitely not unreasonable. Great selection of both domestic and global brews, with a nice balance of American and European beers. Anytime there's a special/seasonal release, this is the first place I check. The staff is highly knowledgable, and they host a lot of events be it wine/beer/spirits tastings and dinners. Check out their monthly calendar for events. Highly recommended!
