Hazy pale straw color with a bright white and active head. 1 year of age. Musty and funky nose. Still extremely bright body held up. Lots of sweet bright fruit with a dry finish with a bit of alcohol heat. All hop presence is gone. The beer still holds up pretty well as a strong Belgian gold ale but is definitely better fresh. Alcohol heat becomes a bit more prevalent and flavors become a bit flatter and sweeter.

Happy to get to try this one on tap at the Birdsall House in Peekskill, NY

Pours hazed light apricot, fine bubble off white head, leaves lots of low sheeting and high lace.

Fruit filled nose with hints of yeast

Nice crisp hop bite, with cirtic fruit and then a dry finish. Quality creation. Well worth a try

Smells funky, fruity with a hint of banana.

Color is light with a good amount of foam.

Tastes hoppy but not to many distinct flavors and not much of an after taste. Nothing stood out and therefore I consider this average. A good beer with a hearty meal otherwise I wouldn't savor this one for too long

A: nearly snow-white head, large bubble matrix - yellow-golden colored liquid with small bits and chunks of lees, moderately hazy - sticky/sudsy lace splotches, collar and swirls - bit of a "rustic" look, I like it

S: typical Belgian yeast, pale malt and hop aromas - spicy, floral, sugar-coated dried tropical fruit - green peppercorns - buttery/fruity sugar cookie - little bit of a yeast funk behind the spicy-zesty hops - this reminds me of something (Dupont?)

T: sugar cookie, honey - peppery spice against some hop bitterness - a bit band-aid, but more so yeasty, souring dough - lactic? - mild-moderate white wine and alcohol flavors, starting in the middle through the finish - fruity/peppery aftertaste

M: smooth-ish, soft-bubbly - the long, drawn out finish pulls flavor with it, ending almost bone dry

O: rather generic, no? it's nice and suggests boldness in some areas, but nothing distinct

750 mL capped bottle,

appears a bright yellow color, with 1" rocky bone-white head that fades to a thin ring. smells of pale malt, a bit of Belgian yeasty funk, and strong earthy clean hops. fairly the same in the taste. well balanced of all the flavors, much hoppier then most Belgian beer.s thin to medium body, higher carbonation, appropriate for the style.

overall - an interesting combination of flavors.

750 mL bottle, an offering from Amanti Vino's Beer of the Month club in December. It was poured into my Brooklyn Brewery tulip.

Hop Ruiter pours a crystal clear goldenrod, with some lemon yellow highlights appearing as the beer is backlit. Three fingers of lightly frothed head tops the beer and nearly spills out of the glass. Head retention is pretty good, but lacing is a little disappointing. Aromas of lemon zest, black pepper, and a certain earthy quality all come spilling out of the glass to greet my nose. The flavor profile adds a slight cracker sweetness up front. The lemon zest and pepper are a bit more subdued compared to the aroma, with the herbal, earthy quality correspondingly ratcheted up in intensity. Bitterness has a fairly strong presence as well. The mouthfeel is just alright, I could stand to see the body a little bit more dry and a little more vibrancy to the carbonation. Belgian Strong Pale Ale, Belgian IPA, I'm not sure where Hop Roiter falls. Either way though, it's a good brew.

Pours a clear golden yellow color with a thick one pinky, white frothy head and lots of active carbonation - looks great!

Honey, biscuits, grass, lightly floral with Belgian spice.

White grapes, flowers, lemon grass, honey, Belgian spices, cloves, biscuity, and a slight bitter citrus finish that's slightly peppery.

Light medium body with a slight bit of water at the very end, crisp finish, and a slight alcohol warming as it goes down.

Hoppy for a Belgian ale and is more balanced. One of the first things I picked out of the nose was the honey malt, could it be an older keg? I've never had this beer before but the nuances are pointing that direction.

What can I say about this one ... It's a hoppy beer, hence the name, refreshing, tastefull, not bad at all but ... it doesn't stand out ! I will definitely have another one if it's available on the menu as an alternative for Duvel etc. Altough I found the lack of carbonation very disturbing and I think this would give the beer that little extra 'fizz' ...
