A - 0.5 seconds of flimsy head and zero lacing, crystal clear amber beneath.

S - Heavy corn and honey, sweet with a fair bit of depth.

T - Light grassy hop, honey and corn.

M - Thin bodied, crisp moderate carbonation. Easy on the way down.

O - Not too bad for a macro pale lager, head and shoulders above most.

Clear, pale straw colour with tonnes of bubbles & a tall, foamy white head

Rather grainy and slightly skunky smelling beer with a bit of a sickly tinge to it as well. This is followed up by some by some grassy hops and a tinge of malts.

Bread and biscuit from this one, some malts and a little grassy hops. Not much different from you run-of-the-mill pale lager with a bit of corn & grain.

Slightly thicker feeling that I would have expected, I'd put this on down as being on the light side of medium bodied and with a smooth texture. It is quite clean and crisp with strong carbonation and a mild bitter finish.

Another average pale lager here and not one I would recommend or try again simply because there is a lot better out there to be had.

The body is a very pale brass colored body. The off white head and lace are excellent. Both have a lot of creamy staying power. The smell is mild. The taste is also very mild it hard to really get a sense of anything. It is light and thin with mainly cereal esters with some yeast spice.

Not a bad beer. Though, probably not worth the price as an import. It's your typical lawn mowing lager with not not much to offer except that it quenches the thirst.

If your into trying new beers like I do, go get yourself one and check it off on your list of conquered beers. Otherwise, any standard American BMC will do just as well.

What is the deal with cheap beers having the word "premium" in their name? It's like making a mediocre beer that your actually proud of. Why do brewers do this? Obviously it would be difficult selling a beer called "Jim's Cheap-ass Lager", but at least they might think about dropping the "premium" from the name and saving it for their best beer... unless of course it is their best beer (in that case, my apologies).

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a tulip pint.

A: Fluffy white head... dissipates to a spider web lacing. The body is a light amber hue... very Lager-ish characteristics here.

S: Cut grass, light honey and a hint of mint (interesting). The aroma suggests a clean, sharp Lager.

T: First thing I noticed was how dull this Lager is... there is nothing exciting here, "yes" it's crisp, "yes" it's clean, "yes" it has a slight dry aftertaste (all typical of Lagers), but that's it: there's no draw card with this beer. Why drink this when you could quite easily settle for one of the other billion boring Lagers out there? Of course this is semantics. In relation to the actual flavour: it's malt grains and light bitterness with that unmistakable hint of honey found in the aroma.

M: The beer I was tasting seemed a bit flat, not sure if this is intentional or just the bottle I was drinking. Also watery, like any other Lager.

D: Easy to drink, but not necessarily a good thing in this case. This beer is so boring I nearly fell asleep while drinking it. A big slice of average pie here.

Food match: Boring food... steamed vegetables and plain white rice. The hint of honey I found might make it go well with dessert, but who drinks beer with desserts?

Purchased at a local petrol station - so it's got to be good, right? A 500ml green glass bottle with a BB of May 2012. Label states an ABV of 4.7%, and features a cool stylised orange tree emblem.

Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass. A clear golden colour with good carbonation. Forms a small head of white foam that disappears in under a minute. Weak aroma of light malt with a faint solvent note.

Tastes of light malt with a mild bitter finish. Faint grainy character with a hint of stewed leaves that becomes more apparent as it warms. Notes of solvent/alcohol. Mouthfeel is prickly, acidic and slightly dry. Leaves a faint aftertaste of grain and leaves.

A very average beer; certainly not what qualifies as premium in my book. Flavourwise, it's bland and uninteresting. Might be refreshing in hot weather, although I can think of better things to drink. Pass....

I always have high hopes from German brews. Appearance was golden straw with a light fizzy head. Lots of carbonation.

Smell was skunky, kind of like Heineken.

Taste was just plain average. Quite clean and less funk on taste than aroma. Not too bad just nothing spectacular.

Mouthfeel and drinkability are high due to the thinness and good carbonation.

This was an average brew but still worth a try and kind of fun to have at New Year's since it's not super popular here in Central PA.

A - Poured out a very clear, golden yellow color. It had high carbonation levels and a small, fizzy, short-lived head. No lacing at all.

S - It smelled of grains and floral notes. Not much else here.

T - It tasted of grain and slightly toasted malts. There was a slight bitterness and grassy bite.

M - Oranjeboom is crisp and sharp with a fizzy mouthfeel. A very light bodied lager.

D - This was worth a try once but I don't think I'd want the imported version we get in the U.S. again. I'm sure it is much better closer to the source.

Poured in to a Unibroue snifter

A - Poured a very light yellow with a lot of carbonation and a very small amount of white head.

S - The nose slightly citrusy (lemon) with not much else going on. A very light nose.

T - Some sweetness comes through from the malts along with the slight citrus taste that was evident in the nose. For what I expected to be a typical European lager, this at least offers something different and unique in the palate.

M - Light body, average carbonation.

D - A good European lager.

Green 50cl bottle, best before 5th May 2010, drank 18th Feb 2010. Poured three times into my Veltins (0.2 litre) stemmed tulip.

Looks fairly dark in lager/pilsner speak, a rich golden yellow rather than the paler end of the style. Very clear and clean. The white head initially was impressive on each pour into the glass, the head however didn't last, only a collar and a few wisps were left after a couple of seconds or so.

The smell was poor, half metallic, half straw/hay, no true beery smells at all.

The taste was sharp and refreshing with a bit of bite but lacked flavours or class. This is a standard mass produced supermarket beer and you can tell once it's in the mouth.

Nothing wrong with the beer, although a metallic edge appeared towards the end of the mouthfeel as the mouth dried. It isn't at the higher end of the lager/pilsner world in any shape or form. It's cheap and there is a reason for that.

In the mid 1970's it was my prefered Dutch beer on tap (I lived on the Dutch/German border). I don't remember it being so bland then, I think it has changed a great deal since those days.

Consumed 12/9/2009- from notes.

Trying to broaden my taste for Euro Pale's and spotted this on the shelf at a local shop figured I'd give it a go.

Green 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

A- Clear golden yellow with a Two finger soapy white head that faded pretty quick to a thin ring. Medium Carbination.

S- An almost hard candy sweetness mixed with a light bready/biscuity malt.

T- Almost the exact same as the smell with a little hop presence at the end.

M- Light to medium, a little creamy.

D- Pretty easy to drink but nothing I will seek out again. Better than the the 3 Horses from the same company I had earlier tonight but neither one are anything special.

Golden amber. Small head fades to nothing. Aroma is mostly honey and some nice biscuity malt, but also a little skunk in the background. More honey and sweet malt on taste. Very gentle short-lived bitterness. Very watery and too much carbonation. Too sweet and not enough hops, but otherwise pretty good for a macro lager.

Picked up a single from Liberty St. Tavern. Oh man, this is Skunk City, USA. Even after letting it air out for a few minutes, which is all a lot of skunked beers need, but it was to no avail. Beyond the stank, this beer basically tastes like Heineken. There's a yeast-driven fruity sweetness, though the beer isn't very sweet, along with a very pale grain taste. I'd honestly need to drink them side-by-side to tell them apart. This one might have a little more flavor, but the skunk makes it hard to tell. Freaking green bottles.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pilsener glass. Had a yellowish-brown color and a mostly clear consistency. There was about a quarter inch of head, but not much lacing.

S: This beer had a skunky aroma, typical of green bottles. Other than that, it had faint traces of hops and citrus.

T: Some mild hops and lemon, but little else. A thin, featureless beer.

M: A below average amount of carbonation and a dry finish.

D: This is nothing more than another mass-produced Euro lager. No real personality or taste to speak of.

12oz bottle

Oranjeboom pours a transparent orange, slightly brown color with a 2 finger white head and some sticking. Classic marco lager nose...hmm. Nothing amazing here in taste either, macro, cheapo malts, weak hop character and an overall skunky, funky taste. Gotta love those green bottles. This beer is no stand out, and is much better on draught in Amsterdam. It sports a light body and is extremely drinkable, if you like this kind of stuff.

The head of the beer went away fast, and turned to nothing. There a lot of bubbles in the glass, but nothing too dramatic.

The taste is smooth, but reminds me of other Pilsners, nothing too different from other brands. Leaves a rather strong after taste, but doesn't really leave a dry taste in my mouth.

I would drink this beer again if it was available, but would rather try another beer if possible.

Appearance: pours a clear pale yellow color with a short 1/4" head that breaks apart immediately. No lacing develops.

Smell: no real aroma as some light malt sweetness is tough to pull out of the glass.

Taste: light malt profile with some hay, sweet green grapes, apples, and a hint of lemon zest. Very light bitterness here.

Mouthfeel: thin and light in body. Crisp from start to finish. Clean aftertaste.

Drinkability: so-so at best. Typical euro macro flavor that is boring but you can drink in a pinch.

Ick!

Now I understand the meaning of the word "swill".

I have an enormous amount of respect for European beers. But not for this one.

The taste is nasty, the smell is only marginally better and the drinkability is just .. awful.

Avoid. Trust me.

Pours a light golden color, slighly off the usual. Small white head that dissipates quickly. Big bubbles seen rising.

Aroma is quite sweet, light malts, light grass.

Taste is very sweet [honey-like], quite cloying. Sort of fake tasting. Adjuncts.

Mouthfeel, like everything else, was quite light.

Overall, just too sweet and nothing interesting going on. Don't bother.

Purchased as part of a mixed 6Pack at Wilbur's Liquors in Ft Collins.

Pours from 12oz bottle a clear medium gold with a good head of foam that stays around for a while and then shrinks to a fine broken layer with some lacing.

The smell is on the hoppy side but really does have the nose of a typical Euro Lager.

The taste up front has some decent hop character...not citrusy, maybe a touch of grass. The malty side moves in rather weakly about midway through and it finishes fairly dry but kind of watery. The more sips I take, the less "interesting" it becomes. Nothing special here and is really only useful for the sake of trying it and reviewing it.

Clear light honey color with hardly any foam.

On the nose is malt, hops and skunky funky.

Has a nice pilsner-like taste, but this one tastes like it could be skunked from light damage through this green bottle. There is a slight mineral/metallic taste. Despite this less-than-glamorous description, it doesn't taste bad... probably better than or just as good as that other beer in a green bottle you buy.

Feels a little limp on the tongue...

Poured the 12oz green bottle into a pils glass it formed a loose, small head that leaves little lace.

Pale yellow body with minimal carbonation. I get a bit of the skunk that comes along with some euro pale's. This has a corny and husky side to it as well. Cooked vegetables and a myriad of sweet malt. This used to be my staple beer when in Amsterdam in the mid 90's. It served its purpose and I can still see this being serviceable when on tap while running around the red light district but nothing more than typical.

Notes: Not alot to say about this as its a run of the mill beer with no imagination whatsoever. You'll be better off leaving this on the shelf.

Poured this 12 oz. green bottle into a pilsner glass. No date. Body was a clear, light golden color. The small, white head was brief.

Smell, what smell. Really I could detect only the faintest grain aroma with a deep inhale.

Taste was crisp and dry. Pils hops (?) and some corn sweetness. You've tasted this before.

Mouthfeel was zesty with a lingering oiliness. Not one I will seek again.

Typical light lager that's very drinkable but doesn't really have any stand out features. There isn't really a distinct aroma; smells a bit like corn/grains. Mouthfeel is very good; light with just enough carbonation. Taste could be improved if turned up just a little bit; its hoppy flavor and bitter aftertaste is pretty good, I just wanted more of it.
