Had this on tap at the Valley Brew....
Appearance- Dark clear. Lackluster liveliness. No head. No lacing.
Smell- yeast and alcohol.
Taste-much like its style, however the brown sugar taste balances the alcohol heat a little better than others. Nice finish!
Mouf- too seltzery. Much like soda.
Drinkability- Quite easy for an 8% abv...=)

A big thanks to armock for the extra.
A: Pours a dark, nearly opaque brown color. A one finger light tan head forms, and recedes to a small ring. Not much lace to speak of.
S: Toasted malt, yeast, some alcohol. Bread crust. Fairly simple.
T: Again, plenty of toasted malt, yeast and alcohol. A bit of sweetness. Bread and biscuit, and finishes dry.
M/D: A medium body and carbonation. A nice dry finish. A bit on the thin side. Easy enough to drink. Not something I would come back to often though.
A nice enough Dubbel. Something I am glad I got the chance to try, but overall fairly simple.

22 ounce handbottle courtesy of Steve himself, had this a couple times now as well, consumed 12/16/08, reviewed from notes, color was a brownish red and had a small 1/2 inch creamy off white head, did not last long and had very little lacing, aroma was made up of bubble gum, caramel, Trappist yeast, red and green apples, candi sugar, pears, bread, and whole grains, taste has a nice balance between toasted and sweet malts, fruits work well together too but there is just something missing with all that sweetness and type of yeast, by the end interestingly I tasted some sweet milk chocolate, mouthfeel was pretty full and fitting, carbonation is soft, mostly sweet overall with some chewy accents at times, tried to finish the bottle myself but could not, too heavy and sweet for me after a while, but still pretty drinkable, glad I got to have some more of this, recommended
