On tap at Pizza Port San Clemente a few months back.
Lighter in color, mostly yellow, solid 1+" of white head on it, pretty cling to the glass. Looks like a pale ale. Aroma, solid grassy hops. Its not massive dry hopping like a Zombie Dust, but its a respetable amount, something you should expet from a Pizza Port pale ale.
Hops at the forefront tastewise, mild grain presence. Light body, above average hops can make for a solid drinker. This is no exception. Definite C hop presence, tons of bitterness, but the grassy edge and minimal grain sweetness produce something enjoyable rather than just a one trick pony IBU contest. Mouthfeel is dry and bitter throughout the entire experience, they kept the carbonation high, as it should be for this pale ale.
Enjoyable. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or try again.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. A Chinook fresh hop pale ale.
A: Light gold with a small white head
S: Strong pine notes with fresh cut grass, orange, and grapefruit. No malt to behold. Smells nice.
T: Juicy orange and grapefruit with ample grass and pine resin. Malt is a shadow, imparting cracker. Finishes crisp, dry, and moderately bitter.
M: Upper light in body with a lower high level of carbonation.
Overall: A solid fresh hop pale with ample bitterness in its favor.

A Chinook Fresh Hopped Pale Ale
On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad
*notes from 10/13/11
A: Tap was gushing a bit so after some battling by my tender the glass of Whipper Snapper arrived. Pours a clear light goldenrod hue overflowing with a soapy white foam head that left lovely tracks of lace. Streaming with bubbles ever so nicely.
S: Aroma is killer and packed full of freshly clipped herbs. It's really quite danky. Just fresh clean hop aromas with notes of fruity apricots.
T: Super hoppy and floral. It's fruity flowers. Has like an herbal hibiscus note to it. Intensely bittered. Some grainy pale malts due surface through the mass of hops and provide a light subtle sugar base. Man this is good but almost, dare I say, too much hops for this light 5.6% Pale Ale to handle. Very enjoyable but a touch astringent at times even for me.
M: Very light in body. Creamy texture. High carb results in a dry crisp finish with a mouth puckering bitterness present.
D: Man I could session the hell out of this one at only 5.6% and what seems like 100+ IBU's. Very fresh, fruity and floral. Intensely hopped.
I guess they brewed this one up on a whim having some leftover wet Chinooks. And who would have thought I liked Chinook hops so much? Port never lets me down when it comes to the hops. Hope to see this one again for sure.
