22oz bomber...
eyes...
watch the pour, this one wants to escape even on an easy like a sunday night pour.... 3 fingers of head only that short because it ran out of glass to climb ! settles at a good clip, slow gurgles as it turns soapy with big bubbles consuming the smaller ones in this off white coat, the depths are murky and muddy here, somewhere the paint is light brown with hues of amber, mini old faithfuls of bubbles stream up from the glass bed keeping the head at a steady one finger.. nice looking brew.
nose...
dry grainy malt with a hint of sweetness, slight sense of the alcohol looming beneath the surface, some hop floral scent, overall a pretty subdued experience
taste etc...
the carbonation is bright and spiky, really fizzes in the mouth, some toasty malt flavors dominate on the sip and in the afterglow, around the edges are nice spicy hop notes and bitterness that lingers from some time, medium body really goes down smooth with the carbonation, easily drinkable but yet as I go on it seems to be packing more bitterness (a good thing to me), the bitterness keeps on building to a nice point, the beer never looses that malt front . Amazingly the ABV is hidden almost completely here, which can be dangerous, or good.. depending on where you are it.
verdict?
damn tasty but yet not unapproachable, it's the hot chick that likes football,. This is a really nice beer, not perfect but somehow hard to criticize... Worth keeping an eye out for especially if you like hopped up reds like say Lagunitas imperial red or the like.

A - Deep blood red -- it's quite clear why the beer is named Shark Attack. The beer is so red that it's almost purple, but the brown notes mellow it back down to just blood red. It's a great looking beer.
S - lightly hopped with a malty undertone. The 9% comes through the hops a little bit, but not so much. It's nothing too special on the nose, but it is pleasant.
T - It's actually maltier than I had anticipated. The malt is the backbone here, but the hops leave a dry finish with a lingering floral aftertaste. There's a little bit of a metallic flavor here, or something stringent like that. It's definitely interesting, but I think this beer has something of an identity crisis. It reminds me of an over malted IPA.
M - It's a little undercarbonated, which makes it feel like water. I usually like undercarbonated beers, but this one takes it a step too far.
O - This isn't by any means my favorite beer, but it's not the worst. It's not even that bad, really. That said, I wasn't expecting it to taste like this, and I think it's a bit unbalanced on the whole.

We pour a brew of rich coppery golden red coloring. It holds a two and a half finger head of beige colored bubbles, leaving patterned lacing as it recedes at a slower pace. A chill haze is noted in the absence of sediment, while carbonation appears moderate. The aroma is wrought with warm buttery malts, peppery and spicy alcohol, brightly citric and herbal hops, light caramels, tannic unsweetened tea, phenolic plastics, faint cedar smokiness, and faintly browned apples. With warmth we get juicy bubblegum esters, women’s perfume, and a strengthening of the alcohol. Our first impression is that the flavoring is rich with coppery, buttery malts, with surprising smoothness in contribution from the alcohol. The taste opens up with that buttery toasted malt, coppered metallics, light chocolatey depth, a sweet fruit of red cherries and pear. Herbal and citric hops are bittering and spicy, but give hearty freshness. The peak hits with toffee sweetness, bitter roasted malts, browned apple sweetness, coiny metallics, herbal and nectary hops, and spicy peppery alcohol. These blend and pull us to the finish which boasts of more caramel maltiness, soft toast, herbal and citric hops, tomato leafiness, faint woodiness, more stinging booze, mineral, malted milk balls, and drying baker’s yeast. The aftertaste breathes astringently of planty greens, chive, simple ale yeast, number two pencil, ethanol, black pepper, basil meatiness, and metallic molasses syrups. The body is medium to full, and the carbonation is light to medium. There is sticky slurp, smack, with softer cream and froth to the lip. Finishing pop is less noticeable due to this softness. The mouth is left astringently dried after this initial creaminess, and the hard palate feels a bit metallic and streaked. The abv is appropriate, and the beer sips easily.
Overall, what we enjoyed most about this beer was the robust start of the flavoring. We began with a nice, toasty, buttery blend of pale and caramel malts, with eventual depth, grown from the plastic and boozy inclusions. These helped to flesh out the meat of this brew, and to hold up against the bite of citric and earthy hops with its own sweetness. Both the nose and the mouthfeel remain soft throughout the tasting, contributing equally to the final picture. This beer is actually quite representative for the style and well executed.

Poured from 22oz bottle into Samuel Adams Perfect Pint glass.
Appearance: Cloudy amber color with a large orange-tinted head that dissipates slowly and leaves behind sticky spotted lace.
Smell: Sweet caramel malt with floral and citric hop aromas.
Taste: Begins biscuity and rounds out to sweet caramel malt flavor. Finish yields toastiness and herbal bitterness with a touch of bittersweet alcohol. The hop profile pushes this one into near-IPA territory. Also reminiscent of Stone's Arrogant Bastard and its ilk.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full, slightly chewy body with a dry finish.
Overall: A pretty good beer and a great beer for its style. Definitely a sipper at 9% ABV. Having this at 2pm may not have been the best idea.
